... has a terrible gimmick of making you pay with Stars from stage 6 onward on Normal. Hard stages are Stars-only right from the get-go. I didn't continue playing Normal difficulty to see if the cost rises to the point where getting perfect on a previous stage won't even pay for it. Also didn't try Versus on-line mode. I'm guessing Stars can be gained from that too. Otherwise, they are obtained by doing well in each stage or purchased through in-game microtransactions.
