Sonny for Android
Not a bad mobile version for what was a brilliant flash game. There are some glitches that need cleaning up for a better overall experience. I often need to reset my phone to get past the initial "tap to start" screen. I've also had some issues with the game failing to save.
The game runs great, but... Abilities are awful. Items are even worse. And why did you have to take this new style for characters. Old one was perfectly fine.. i just don't like it like the original..
You guys did a good job reviving an old good game. Overall, I would say the story makes more sense than the original one, however the gameplay wasnt really much challenging but i guess that is fine considering the fact that you dont force us to buy any items in order to finish the game. Still give it 5 stars. Update: please u guys gotta nerf the guys on shadow arc, they all hit like trucks.
Huge fan of sonny 1 and 2 played em over n over. This game while good lost the feel of the originals (which probably makes zero sense, but can't argue the feels dewd). Also the ads will make you wish for a zombie apocalypse to roll through. They are relentless, there might be a way to pay n remove em haven't looked. Over all though good time killer, and a good game.
Sonny was one of my childhood games. As I grew up and technology advanced with smart phones, I was always looking for Sonny if there was a phone version. I kinda miss the aspect where you can see the items you equip or weapon? Can't really remember if you can in the PC version but wish that was in this version. Not really a biggie but that's just what I remember for the pc. Overall, I really missed this game and I love it. Thank you!! I also rarely comment on games. In fact I think this is my first one. Hoping for more updates, upgrades, or part 2!!
The game is good no doubt. But there are things I would like to see. I would like to see more voice acting. I enjoy the strain aspect. Needs just a little better attack animations. It just can't not have the custom sonny equipment and weapon you see every fight. It's part of why I loved Sonny. I would also enjoy voice narration in cutscenes too. Simply put it has some work but it's got potential to be better than the other games if the creator listens to his fans. Thank you very much Armor Games. Please reply
Always been a big fan of Sonny, ever since I was just a little kid. I loved the fresh idea of the protagonist being a zombie, I loved the gameplay, and I loved the story. As soon as it became available on Steam, I bought Sonny (2017). At first it was unfamiliar and didn't seem very promising. The reviews from other old fans of the series also weren't very positive, but I decided to keep an open mind and just keep playing. And yes, there are some things that the previous games did better than this one, and Sonny (2017) is far from a perfect game. However, it is also the most polished Sonny game to date, with some of David Orr's finest music, and very interesting updates to both the class system and the gameplay. I definitely think it's worth picking up, especially since the game is now available for free.
I want to like this game but I just cant. Its nothing like the original series from the art style and missing combat animations, to the music and original voice acting. Its all too different and just not to my taste. I miss how dark the whole game felt. Im glad to see Im not alone on this as well, we love you krin but even a ported sonny 2 on android would have made me happy. Heck I'd even pay a good 5 dollars to have it ported here.
Game is great. But game has 2 minor problems. 1. Game crash quite often and need to be restarted (basically is quitting itself). 2. During choosing a class have no description about a new abilities and offered game style. To known what they offer need to play from beginning every time. Bonus from watching adds might be a little higher. Apart of this, game looks really solid and is worthy to recommend. Good job :-)
I liked the actual game itself and really enjoyed playing it. But the number of ads made it unplayable. It would have been fine if it were just the ads to get gold/exp bonuses, but an ad after almost every fight is way too much. Fewer ads and this would be a 5 star for me.
You dont know how much I've longed for another Sonny games!!!! I Love It!!! But ofc, there are some aspects that are not so appealing like the lack of each character's combat animations, changing equipment = change thy character's appearances, lack of diverse classes and all the other good thimgs in the flash games versions. And no lie, some of the dialogues sounded pretty cringy.
I'm so excited that Sonny is now available on Android!! I've played the pc versions and this is an excellent port to android. Not sure why any fans of the series would give this a negative review. Thank you so much for bringing this game to the play store. I hope you bring the next installments of Sonny and possibly develop a sequel to the series. Great job guys!
Omg I LOVE SONNY!! That being said...why must I equip constant effects? Considering you can only bring 8 skills to a battle it really constricts your versatility. I liked the skill trees of the previous games better, but this is still Sonny through and through.
I like RPGS and this is a great, simple, but challenging one. I was a little disappointed that this one, unlike the original, the art did not show what you had equipped nor did the arm move when you attack but still alot higher quality artwork. I do appreciate some other changes as well but I do miss a few things about the old. I have not played the whole game yet but I am liking the story as well. I do appreciate that difficulty, at least at the beginning is easier the the original but that might just be more experience.
I had fun playing took me 3-4 days to finish it. Hard? Yes it was especially killing Carbon. This Sonny was satisfying to play like the other Sonny games because it has its own fun to it. Keep up the good work Krin! Hope to see more games made by you good luck!
I loved the original Sonny game, and this remake looks awesome! I love the new anime-esque art style you guys went with. The only things that I didn't like was that there is less voice acting in this game than in the original and the characters aren't animated in battle. I'd really love it if you could look into these points if you can.
Absolutely great game, very enjoyable. Interesting story, awesome artwork. Used to play when it was a flash game. My only gripe is that there are WAY too many ads. The original game had none, why should you play on mobile woth ads when you could play on a web browser on PC without them?
The art of the characters in the ORIGINAL Sonny were not that detailed, they were rough looking, but that fit well into the game. Character art in this game makes them look lile anime highschool characters which is very off-putting. The original soundtracks of Sonny are actually legit one of my favorite soundtracks ever. In this game, it sounds similair but much "happier" which is not good in my opinion. Louis looks like a teenager instead of that blind but strong wise mentor-type. :( If this was (Sonny original) flash-port to IOS/Android I would have given it 5/5. I have not completed this game so if anything makes me change my mind, I will rate higher/lower. In any case, nice to see that Armor Games decided to give this classic gold game some well-deserved attention. :)
This game is absolutely incredible. I have played the original Sonny and ever since then, I have been encapsulated with the game. The gameplay features original game concepts that was used during the original Sonny so getting to play it and be reinversed in it brings full of nostalgia. The design, characters, and storyline matches well with the original game. The bosses as well, maintain to be just as hard and grueling to take on as before in the original. The challenges met throughout the story including the rollercoaster of emotions that comes from the story really define how much fun this game was. I absolutely love this game so having a mobile version of it really is incredible. Try to make it less advertisement heavy but overall, this is a well-made product that I can have fun playing in.
This trully is dissapointing. Feels like you didnt even try to make it good and that you just capitalized on the brand of sonny to hit people in their nostalgia bone. There are no voice overs, the graphics have no animation and no pop, the the story telling part feels cut off compared to the last 2 games...Just lazyness overall id say...
I love the sonny series ever since the first game. I like the new look of the characters but id like to see the models change when different equipment is placed on them. Also the app freezes on the title screen most of the time so devs could you please fix that.
Great game, I also have the steam version, though it is lacking in some areas compared to the original sonny and sonny 2, the game is still good. My only problem is the game doesn't work if the screen has a blue light filter or if the user is using an app for night mode. Please fix this issue
I have loved this series ever since it was first released on Armorgames in 2007. I have playing and beating each game all the way through, and I'm fully planning on doing the same with this once again. If I had one critique, it would be there are too many ads. I understand the necessity for them, but not every other battle
I played sonny and sonny 2 when they were released, they were the best flash games i have found. This in the other hand seems like a cheap attempt to capitalise on a much loved game, did krin actually make this? I struggle to belive he would release a game with no combat animation, no voice acting and no way to actually wear equipment. At most this should be a beta, i do hope you finish this game at some point as it is a disappointment to the sonny franchise.
Easily one of my favorite web games back in the day. I got really excited when I saw this pop up on the play store. Still love it now. Only issue I have are the ads. But the game is free so it's only a minor incovience
I missI the old Sonny, what with the animations for every attack and reaction. Each item you put on your character is visually represented. This is good, don't get me wrong, it's just not what us veteran fans wanted. Nonetheless, I still support this creator.
An old favorite but the end of battle ads, which pop up even if you decide against the bonus, is too much. I've never played a game I had to watch so many ads. Edit: ads ads ads. Continuous, ridiculous, relentless. Great in remembrance of the original.
I was loving this game a lot, and loved the older versions of this game too, back in Newgrounds. Unfortunately, the mobs get insanely difficult later on, especially the female enemies in Blackhall Keep. Unable to finish the game due to the insane grind fest. Oh well.
As an old fan of sonny, this game really miss tons of thing. Attack animation, huge variety of item while at the same time the item also show up on your character. I don't really mind about the story though, cause thats all in the hand of the developer. Gameplay is alright i guess, too simple imo compare to the original. But overall the dev tried, maybe too hard on the graphic so the rest must be sacrificed
Severly undercooked. Original was better. First of all art was fine. But what breaksthis game for me is that attacks basically have no animation. The equiped items are not seen on your character. The skill system is ABSOLUTELY downplayed compared to original. No classes or anything. You have ads often. All in all. Original sonny 2 is superior to this in almost every way.
Too many ads, and AFAICT, no purchase to get rid of them. It asks if you want a "bonus" for watching a video. If you say no, it plays a video anyway. 2 mins of (so far bland) gameplay and then ad. Repeat. I am willing to give this another shot if I can buy an ad unlock. Until then, I am going to pass.
This could very well be the long-awaited enhanced remake that every Flash gamer who loved the classic Sonny could wish for...if it incorporated the attack and equipment animations of the classic one, because everything else is just about perfect. The anime illustrations evoke the graphic novel I've wanted to write alongside Krin for so long, and while the voice acting is admittedly a little scant as compared to the Flash version, the music and mechanics have translated perfectly. If the entire Sonny saga (1, 2, maybe even 3?) is told through this one remake, then ideally, this should be followed up with an enhanced remake of Sinjid: Shadow of the Warrior.
Great redux of the flash classic. However, I've got more time watching video ads than actual play time. This is wrong. Enough with the QHD ads. I refuse to play ad-based games when on cell data, ad-based games get played over WiFi only. I'm not paying for ads. Since I have a fairly crappy ISP, ads in-game can take minutes to load. I'm done with Sonny until this is fixed.
Good game, art style, and story, kinda nostalgic. Though sometimes it felt like something was missing or lacking. For the people that complain about the ads, it's a free game (on android) so what do you expect? Would you rather have microtransactions or buy the game (like on IOS and probably the Steam version), OR have the game free but with ads.
Finally on android, I loved the computer version and this one is really well done also. Ads are actually done cleverly, you only see them if you want an xp or money boost. Only downside is you can't see on the characters items and weapons.
Great game! I loved the initial Sonny several years ago, and this is a good adaptation to mobile. However, there are too many ads. There should be a way to limit that (pay for no ads, gamification, etc.). This is really a pain as it pops up too often. Also, at least on my Nexus 5X, the screen does not rotate 180° when I flip the phone.
I grew up to Sonny, I loved the series. This is an immaculate revival of that same game. I have plenty of suggestions, one big concern being the amount of graphical glitches and lagging i experience during battles. Especially during fights with dialogue. I have plenty of suggestions though, especially a new strain if you're willing to listen.
I liked the sonny 1 and 2 from flash games better, but this is ok. The dark atmosphere is replaced and the characters look frozen in their pose when attacking enemies. The part where I fight the creepy zombie flamboyant boss is replaced with a not so creepy zombie gentleman. I give this a 5/5 for staying a little a bit on the original, but feels too rushed.
I tried. I really did but the game just gets too frustrating to play and enjoy. It was okay at first but gets way to hard depending on the Strain choices you make. I can't advance through the storyline and I'm just stuck at the Baron level. The game isnt fun enough for me to restart and change my Strain evolutions and theres nothing else I can do. The music brings back good memories of the original Sonny games, the voice acting is good but lacking due to very few voiced lines. Overall this remake feels like a really big step backwards. The original games had far more strategy and were more fun. Also despite the many flaws, I would have paid for an option to remove the damn ads. 3/5 stars.

Just started it, and its pretty good. Two small complaints tho, One it only supports one side of landscape cant turn my phone around, on on my OP3 that means that i have to cover the speaker with my hand, in other games i just turn my phone to the other landscape side, but here it doesnt work. Another problem is the forced video ads, i know they are skippable but still consume a lot of data.
