A Normal Lost Phone for Android
Game is horribly optimized, a top of the line flagship phone struggles with it. The game itself is extremely short with no replay value and the passwords are often not well hinted at at all. The story itself is alright, if a bit preachy. The way you slowly uncover more context is pretty cool but I feel they didn't make the most of it as you can easily guess what's gonna happen next. As a work of art, it's not bad. As a game it's pretty bad.
I am not happy with the message it gives young adults going through this in real life. We have people who love us, and even for the wrong reasons , they deserve to know you have decided to move on with them, it is a part of becoming yourself, you don't just disappear from existence! I know this is just a game, but it is well done, and touches real life matters, and young people are easily influenced.
Game with a massage - this kind of game that I'll remember for some time. What's more it tells about real life situations. It changes my point of view at some harder topics, really good game. Props to developers and anyone who helped
This game challenges the players idea of what gaming might be. This was, per cent, the greatest software investment of my life. Is the narrative life altering? No. But the creative experience and magical puzzle atmosphere are an incredible achievement. Well done says Ballzor.
Preachy, progressive value ladened. If you can keep that intent of the game to the back of your mind it's works quite well and could be adapted for use in games not based on identity politics.
Ugly, short, unoptimized, and boring. The type of games that mistake progressive topics for interesting ones simply because they're progressive. Think Gone Home, but without any interaction with the house. I'm not making a moral judgement call, I just thought it wasn't well executed.
I liked the premise of finding a phone and finding out the story through it, but the story itself was rather short and the game would have been better with a mystery plot than a preachey acceptance one. Very short, no replay value. Fun, but not legendary.
it's a short game which you could finish in minutes. The puzzle in the game was quiet fun and the story behind sam's identity was intriguing. the game is worth it's price. And one more thing, the experience it gave to your google play game account was insane.
I really loved this game. I actually had a friend recommend it to me. It was kinda odd, since she knows me. However, with this game she came out to me as Trans. I was kinda groundbreaking for me (not in a a bad way but in a good way). Overall great game and would definitely play another game like this by the creators.
This game tells a story about real life problems and anyone with these kinds of problems can relate to them just like I did. Overall a really fun "game", excellent writing and a really nice plot. Hope to see more of these games.
Great story with good background music. Would be cool to see support for your own phones music, but that would technically break " character" and the music in the game fits the story, plus you can turn it off. Some of the passwords make sense after you have gotten further, how was a new player is supposed to guess? I wont tell how I got it, but there should be a better early clue. Otherwise? This was an all around great game.
Great novel idea. But the controls... I wonder if it is just my phone but the calculator was really annoying to use, pressing buttons wouldn't do anything many times and the scrolling throughout the game was really uncomfortable. The length of the game is also something quite disappointing. I could have kept at it for quite a while longer specially if there would be different puzzles to solve.
The story is worth telling. People who don't know about the situations or difficulties faced will learn something. People going through it will see they aren't alone in that journey. People who have finished that travel will identify with the trip. The writing is a bit stiff and overly formal considering the circumstances of the conversations and the medium they're held in but the story is worth telling. The way it is told feels more personal than a lot of narratives told in other mediums. I can't suggest you play this, but I can suggest you experience it.
This game is amazing. It opens your eyes to a whole community many of us didn't even realize existed. I'm not going to give spoilers, while I can't relate very well to the person's life, the devs made it in a way so that I can start to relate early on and by the end it has me stunned. While I got it for 90% off, I believe one playthrough of this game is worth 2 dollars. I recommend this game to people who like to dive deep into stories, and love to immerse themselves into a relatable character. In this game, I could almost feel the character's pain as their life ran it's course, and early on you could tell which friends were keepers. The game has a way of withholding information, but hinting at it until the right moment when it hits you with as much force as it can
Nice visuals, story line starts off engaging but really tails off. Puzzles are ok. Way too short and to be honest, story was easy to guess. Finished the game in about 1.5 hours. Ending was disappointing. Scroll emulation in game was also slightly annoying as did not mimic real phone scrolling and found myself swiping vertically frantically just to move quickly through message threads. Finished game feeling disappointed
Understanding your sexuality growing up can be difficult. Families and friends should provide as much love and support as they can. Although, I don't support the LTGB revolution and believe you are born with your sexuality so I can't rate this game.
It's a story telling game with a couple of small mysteries to figure out. The story was ok. Personally, I didn't enjoy the ending. But the game itself was a novel concept and worth the short amount of time it took to play.
I bought this on sale and I'm glad I got to play it. As other reviews have said, there's not much replay value here and it's quite a short experience, but it's an engaging way to deliver a narrative. The main character was depicted as somewhat whiter than white in a way that grated with me somewhat, there were no real flaws to speak of, but when all was said and done it left me quite affected.
Boring, and only a few short and overly cryptic puzzles. I didn't get drawn into the characters at all. I'm very glad I got it when it was 20¢.
Very authentic recreation of the feeling of snooping in somebody's phone. Nonlinear storytelling that nonetheless hits highs and lows with emotional clout. Some rough edges, but overall, super satisfying. I teared up. :)
It started out so juicy and promising. Then gameplay got rough (hints were non-existent) and the story got plain (LGBT-oriented.) The game was made to send a message more than be a game. Would recommend for dollar or less. Anything more is a waste of hard-earned money.
I find myself conflicted. On one hand, A Normal Lost Phone is an important work in the vein of Gone Home that sheds light on an experience too often ignored in media. On the other, the game suffers to convince me that the people I become involved in are real. The text feels too formal, the gameplay too linear, the environmental detail too sparse. The overall effect is that the game felt more educational than empathetic (which can be admirable in its own right but is awkward here). While I still think this is a must play for anyone with a phone, I wish it were so much more.
I bought this game when it was 10p, and I'm glad I did. It's a very cool game with nice music and a good art style, but it's very short. I read a review of the game, and there was a walkthrough. It was only 13 instructions. Overall, it's a very good game with about an hour of fun. It explains the struggles of a trans person very well.
Really glad I got this for only $0.20(on sale). The game is good for a one-time playthrough, but it was lacking a more personal touch(letting you respond to messages or do anything other than just investigate) and the ending was pretty anticlimactic as well. Not bad though. I definitely don't regret my purchase, but I would had it been more than a dollar(luckily, it was less).
Great story, Good music, touches on a much needed discussion on LGBTQ issuses and what it's like to come and discovering who you truly believe you are. My only issue is the Sam-thing-else password should have had a better hint because I really didn't think much of it as a special date.
Thought provoking. I enjoyed the detective aspect of this game & finding out about the main character. Their story is touching & emotional. The game is short though, only took me an hour or so. A very enjoyable hour. Thanks to all who made this game possible.
I absolutely loved this game, the story is great and really touching and the information you are presented with is so awesome and well put. However, I am glad I bought it on sale as it is too short and has no replay value.
Very short game, actually it's not really a game more like a visual novel where you have to find clues about the owner of the phone. Interesting concept however Im glad I got it on sale as for how short it is to me I feel isn't worth the full price. Im more interested in finding out what happens because you're kind of left with a cliff hanger ending.
Lovely game, quite short but an interesting experience. Educational and really well designed and immersive. By the end I felt intrusive reading through another person's messages.
There is no gameplay, you are discovering the story of what happened to the owner's phone, doing so by reading messages, emails, etc. Also in involves a bit of puzzles in order to obtain access to apps with passwords. Innovative way in telling a story, short but in no way boring or bad.
I'm glad i only paid sale price. Hurry while it's 10p or don't bother. Short, simple, and a one playthrough only. Start to finish in ten mins. Good idea though. Maybe more "games" like this will pop up soon. Story shouldn't be in a "game". Without using spoilers, it's aimed at a certain lifestyle some people won't feel the desire to read. Read the description and you may get an idea what I'm talking about. Overall for actual design 10/10, the rest, 2/10.
I'm glad I got this game on sale, because there's no replay value. But I'm also glad I had a chance to play it. It deals with a very important topic, without being preachy. I've recommended it to a special young woman who I know. =) I enjoy cerebral games, with plenty of reading and puzzles, of which this game is a perfect example. Recommended, if you can get it on sale, and if you're of an open mind with empathy towards others. Reminds me very much of the PC game Gone Home.
This game tells an important story which does leave a lasting impression but i feel like it could have been executed way better. The pacing is horrible at times and i feel like some of the passwords you need are not hinted at heavily enough. Otherwise i loved the look of it and the music gave it all a very rememberable feeling!
A unique and relaxing game that takes the player through a important and modern perspective in life through a third party. The ending could use some work as it's a bit contrived, but the journey to the end is worth the effort. It is short though, and unfortunately has very little replay value, though the detail and background provided is both rich and in-depth to a degree that's explained within the game's context. Soundtrack is chill and relaxing, and something I'll need to figure out how to purchase later on.
Awesome game. Fantastic story, especially because of the lack of LGBT themed games. Nice graphical style. One area to improve is the controls, it was difficult to remember to use the buttons on screen, I kept using my phone's back button and home button and closing the app. Other than that, awesome game.
It's great. There isn't a lot of "gameplay" just a couple puzzles, so don't bother with this game if that's what you're looking for. But the story is great. It had me shedding a couple tears by the end. And it treats the topic incredibly well. Don't have much else to say, really. Great game. :___)
5 stars for deal price as very good value. Good premise, well executed and fun to solve the few puzzles and find the pertinent clues, if you don't mind sifting text. Only real points of improvement, from a personal perspective, would be to add more nuance to the characters as they are slightly 2D, and to include more darkness to the secrets being discovered. The moments of unearthing the secrets provide the biggest thrill, and it could have done with a little more variety and intrigue there to be even better.
A short, sweet game about a lost phone and the circumstances surrounding it's loss. If you're looking for action or excitement look elsewhere but if you're interested in a cool little story based game that offers a non-traditional experience it's worth a go. Glad I bought it.
Love this game. Fulfills the inane desire to look into a strangers phone and through extension their mind and life. I'm not in agreement with others that say it feels too formal. It feels just about right to me. I'm glad it's not filled with text speak that would make it difficult to decipher. Love this and would highly recommend the roller coaster of a story it presents.

Charming and clever, but the actual story was lacking. I loved the UI and gameplay. The fun and intrigue of scrolling through someone's phone for clues was great. Wasn't too difficult to figure out passwords, but just challenging enough. However, the actual story (including the "big reveal"), was pretty lacklustre...verging on boring. I love the idea of the game, but it would've done better with a different story (and the ending was so abrupt and lame, too). I hope the devs try again with this format and a new story. This was definitely a promising start, but I'm glad I only paid 20 cents!
