Asteroid Storm FREE for Android
I've been playing this for a month or so and could not recommend it more. More like the original game than any other on the play store. Ads are reasonable and skippable after a few seconds and DO NOT effect gameplay. Would be nice to be able to customize how many original lives you are given, frequency of saucers etc and maybe a daily, monthly leaderboard for those who play. Maybe not enough people to put that kind of effort into it but I absolutely love this game and it will be one of the very few games I will never uninstall.
This is an outstanding version of Asteroids! Except it really needs external joystick support, otherwise MAME remains the go to. However, and this is coming from a retro fan who grew up in the era, this game would blow the MAME version away if it had the joystick option! Simply because it's like the original but fills the screen and the vector lines are really well done. Nice job guys!
It'd be good if it weren't for the ship rotation control! Change it to Left/Right control buttons and it might actually be playable. Seems OK other than that. Don't know if it makes the sound when you hit 10,000 points because I didn't make it very far. I have the Atari classic and it's much better but I'd like to have one that you don't have to load up an app, then go through a game selection.
Exciting! Just like the old arcade game that I use to play way back in the early 1980's, except on a smaller screen with touch screen controls. BUT, I uninstalled the game because it uses video ads, video ads deplete my data. EDIT; at the request of the developer I edited my star rating. Sure, there will be ads, but the video ads aren't necessary. I also won't pay for an app that might be uninstalled in the near future due to burn-out. Sorry guys. It really is a great game, but the video ads are what turned me away.
Graphics are quite faithful to the original, but the controls are not the best. Buttons rarely work on a touchscreen. Also, start-up time is quite slow. Thanks for the quick reply. Seems that either control scheme relies on on-screen buttons. I find those very tricky. This is a difficult game for a touchscreen controller. Have you considered drag left/right (anywhere on screen) to rotate, drag up/down for thrust and let go for fire?
I might be thick but I can't find a way to exit the game (nexus 6P). I mean, controls button is OK, resume button resumes the game, quit buttons quits the game not the app.I'm sure I'm missing something...
This plays so clost to the original game . It takes a bit to get used to the directional controll, but i wouldnt want it any different, feels just like old times.
IS NOT FREE! We were enjoying it right up until the part where the ads reach out and 'grab you by the throat'. Another one to avoid sadly... :-(
This is a really good reproduction! The only thing i would change is to not have a joystick for turning and just have it so you rotate your thumb around the screen where the joystick would technically be.
Without a doubt you have the original game spot on. I played this in the late 70's on the coin-op table version so didn't use a joystick and can manage the touchscreen well enough. Like other comments though, would like to see hyperspace and... no app exit? I have to open another app to exit this one. Great job though.
Looks great but needs left-right controls to be able to turn the ship effectively. In addition, this would be great for Android TV with controller support. UPDATE: Controls MUCH better with left-right controls. Ratings changed accordingly.
This is very close to the original 1979 classic. Other than the screen orientation, only one thing is missing: hyperspace. Other than that, I love it.
Just like I remember many years ago. Simple graphics, and quite a challenge to fend off the Asteroids! Very satisfying for a veteran game player like myself.
Very good port of the classic asteroids game. Once I seen I could change to classic controls, I was quite pleased, my only complaint, it no hyperspace button.
I like it - this game becomes quite addictive and has a great feel to it. The controls works really well. Looks just like the original. Overall a job well done by the developer.
You only shoot a certain distance so if it's in the far sides of the screen you can't shoot them
Very close to the original except if the developer could add the "original" disapear and re appear button then 5 stars for sure
Controls are horrible. Single button rotation sticks and double button is too slow. More a game of luck than anything compared to the original
Played this till my fingers bled in the eighties.. great memories. Great app
Game crashes b 4 loading cant play ,game no good
This is so awesome! I had an issue and the developer helped me so fast! Thanks!
Nearly perfect copy of a game I wasted quarters on as a kid.Good job
Destroy space ships and space rocks.
Feels like playing the old arcades. It's a keeper.
I have been looking for a game just like this and now i found it and i love it.
Bad controller makes it hard to aim.
This game put a smile on my face today. It's the original Atari Asteroids game. Great job. Really recommend to anyone. Thanks!!!
The rotation absolutely SUCK! Propulsion & fire control should be reversed or allow users to set up controls before play.
Cant exit the app without restarting my phone. Uninstalled
Just like the arcade in th 80s
Great retro game... How do you pause game to change controllers? Cheers
It is like original one
Awesome retro blast from the past!!!
Finally a retro game which is right on the mark. How i remember it. Spot on who made this.
Old but gold.
Just like the original
Amazing so much fun but to easy
Fantastic. Plays exactly as you would expect.
Love it but where's the hyperspace? Am I missing it?

This looks as if this would a great game. Please give some consideration to porting for android boxes. If this were able to be played from a standard keyboard I think that I would keep it. EDIT: in response to a fast reply from the dev., I have a Minix uh9 android box and use a Logitech k400r wireless keyboard as a control. I think that it could be fairly easy to include a standard keyboard set of controls for those that run android on devices other than phones. I have tried both of the preconfigured control options within the game without luck. The game seems to work very well other than a control issue.
