Ok since there is no explanation in the app. Your movement is based on a determined pattern your touch only executes the next turn in the pattern. Personally I don't like it cause the game does nothing to tell you this. It throws you in and you left thinking your system is jacked when you swipe like the controls most of these games allow for and it goes the opposite direction.
