About Vryst Alpha
Requires a VR Headset and Gamepad.
This project is still very much under construction.
From Game Design Document:
“Vryst” is a first-person virtual reality adventure / puzzle game designed for Google Cardboard which poses and showcases a solution to the “locomotion problem”of the mobile-VR medium by finding a balance between gamepad movement controls and alternative locomotion methods. By minimizing the need for gamepad “walking” and consistently promoting motion through alternative methods - such as teleporting or using a grappling hook - Vryst oversteps the problem of gamepad input breaking immersion and thus creates an incredibly immersive virtual reality experience.
As a solitary adventure/puzzle game, “Vryst” is not weighed down by the processing load of detailed animation and combat sequences, allowing it to instead focus on rendering the game world at a high frame rate and minimizing overall size.
Borrows heavily from the ideas of it’s predecessor and half-portmanteau “Myst”, “Vryst” is a heavily atmospheric game that builds an open world for the player to explore non-linearly. The world map is divided up into zones, each of which is “locked” by a puzzle of variable complexity.
Emphasizing an aesthetic of quiet wonder and mounting dread, “Vryst” incites a sense of awe and mystery through its extremely rich, yet lonely, visuals and landscapes. This, combined with the immersion that comes with virtual reality games, should create a very unique and memorable experience.

BLUETOOTH CONTROLLER NEEDED. I finally figured out how to use the grappling hook. But it is hard to use. Very challenging, but with practice, it can be done. I change my total ratings from 3*** to 4****.
