About Shut The Box
Shut the Box, also known as Tric-Trac, Canoga, Klackers, Zoltan Box, Batten Down the Hatches, or High Rollers, is a dice game where the player tries to close all the boxes by rolling the dice, adding them up, and then closing the boxes that add up to that number. It's a very easy game to play with a friend or just pick up for a few games to kill some time.
Game Modes:
Missionary - Get the highest score by shutting all 9 boxes. Each box shut is worth a point.
Full House - Same as missionary but with 12 boxes instead of 9.
Golf 9/12 - Try to score a zero by shutting all the boxes. Open boxes' value is added to the player's score at the end of the game.
Digital - Score is determined by reading the open boxes from left to right. For example, ending the game with 1, 5, and 7 open, a player's score would be 157.

I just wanted to play on my own without having to connect and interface with a global scoring matrix. Would've preferred something that looks like the the box games we had as kids...and then to really tip the scales against it an ad popped up after my first ten second game.....so this game is not what I'm looking for.

I love the actual wooden-box board game version of this, but it took me three tries to find an app with the gameplay I was looking for (I like the so-called "digital" scoring version cause that's how I first learned the game.) I will say the graphics aren't my favorite - it'd be cooler if it had a wooden-box look to it and maybe a box-shutting animation of some sort in the rare case that you're actually able to "shut the box." Nevertheless, the gameplay is just what I was looking for.

As others have mentioned, the developer's second attempt at this traditional game is much better because of the included game variants. But, as others have mentioned too, I don't approve of the modern backgrounds -- I would much prefer a classic felt or wooden playing field for any dice game. My rating is of course for the quality of this game, and not for the game itself (which is an old classic, or traditional if you like). Personally I think the game is a waste of two minutes time -- but that's just me.

Easy to play, easy to understand. It is very hard to completely Shut the Box, but you do receive some type of score which makes you want to keep playing the game. This is nothing fancy, just simple fun!
