Good game. Refreshing to find a game that actually lets you control it. And no combos, they just ruin gameplay. I like it, well done. It does kindof make me want to play terraria though,although i grew up on wonderboy. Perhaps mining would be a good addition to a sequel? This combat is better than terreria though

I don't write mobile reviews often, but after clearing the first forest stage and defeating the boss Beethor I had to give this game 5 stars. As far as platformers go this is perfect. If you miss the Gameboy day platformers this will have a special place in your heart if you're willing to try it. And as far as advertisementa go they are skippable after 3 seconds, and they don't intrude into the game, only after you die a few times! And you will die ????

This game is awesome! They're aren't many high quality retro side-scrollers in the Play Store, but this is one of them. The controls are tight and responsive, the 8 bit graphics are utilized well and look great, and the gameplay is challenging, but never feels punishing. I only wish the upgrade system was a more prominent element. Even so, it is still, without a doubt, worth 5 stars. I hope to see more games like this, or even a sequel to Sword of Xolan from this developer.

Ok, so I probably would've given a better review if I had lower expectations. Recently I have been playing a different action platformer called Dan the man. It is probably the best mobile game on the market,and is 20 times better than this. The plot is better, the graphics are better, the controls are better, and even the- well, ya know what? Everything is better. Get it.(I promise that this review is not sponsored, its just personal opinion.) I thought it would be fun to try out a different platformer, but I was wrong.

I gave this game a five star rating. For a retro styled game it is one of the best I have played in a long time. The controls are simple but work well and make for flawless game play. The monsters each have unique attacks and the boss levels are fun. You get to play the game for free with ad's but I opted to pay the 99 cents to support the developers, have no ad's and the game is completely with it.

Absolutely loved this game! From the gameplay to the graphics to the concept, been craving for similar games from when i used to play when I was younger heh. Only issue is that I collected all the cards and found all villagers and treasure chests and it wasnt reflected at all in my achievements :-( but nonetheless, it was a super playthrough heh

This game is sooooooooooooooo good. I'm so impressed with everything. I can tell it wasn't just a half-arsed attempt and that a lot of love ans thought went into making this. All you have asked me to do it is .56p to remove the ads and I get the game! What a steal! Bring on the sequel!!

I never expected a game for Android to be so old school and challenging at the same time. It took me back to the NES games era, some levels were almost impossible but with the right timing and strategy I could beat them. Simple and awesome, keep up the good work guys.

It's a great game overall. There are a few changes I would make but solid. The flying creatures in level 4 need to be nerfed they have too much health. I believe that there needs to be a mechanic in the game that allows you to roll or a blocking mechanic either would work.

The game is great. My only complaint is the buttons are too small. Sometimes my finger would for example miss the attack or jump button resulting to taking damage or deaths making the game difficult for the wrong reasons. Otherwise it's a lot of fun.

This is my go to game when I'm bored. It's ridiculously fun and addictive. Each level is more challenging than the last. It's so good that when I'm looking for a new game I type sword of xolan in the search bar and search for similar games though none compare so far.

Fluid controls and nice gameplay, sadly it lacks a story to keep on driving it. The Prologue with voice is amazing, but you feel the lack when you defeat the first boss and get nothing other than "Defeated Beethor". Makes you lose the drive to play.

Controls are horrible on the pixel xl. I press the sword button several times and I end up jumping. The bottom row doesn't go away so I end up hitting my task manager every now and then. Not able to play it seriously for these two major issues.

Great level design, enemy variation, and enemy AI. Awesome pixel art and 2D physics. I don't like how I buy random game cards instead of choosing weapons, status effects, and so on from gold and leveling up. I think the game would have been more complex and fun with an inventory of items from the shop. Still, it is a fun platformer.

Beautifully crafted game, not a single in game microtransaction to "continue playing". All the levels and monsters each are unique and difficult. There are were many levels which were difficult to best but upon beating them, gives you the feeling of accomplishment. Thank you developers for this experience.

I loved this game from the first stage itself. After quite a while the challenges made my heart pumped up. Thank you so much for creating such an amazing game. Years after I will feel the same way I feel remembering Mario.

A cool retro game with a classic (and somewhat cliched, but nevertheless very fun) 3-part world. Challenging and very fun. Great graphics. The feel of the game makes you want to keep trying despite being stuck on that one level you can't beat.

A challenging classic action platformer game in mobile device. What more do you need? No combo, no microtransactions, very few ads and no bullshit. Cons? Very few acts and no control UI settings.

I only completed the first two levels and alredy decided to give this game 5 stars. This is basically what every mobile game should be. I'm tired of all the "one touch control" games and the high prices for removing ads. Yes, this game also has ads but very few-after completing a level and rarely after dying, and to remove them, you have to pay 0.69€ compared to the other games where it's usually 2 or 3€. Great moves dev, keep it up!

One of the best platformers that I have played on Android. Excellent gameplay and controls, 3 acts with secrets and bosses. A vareity of enemies in all 3 acts. Challenge mode. Offers a lot of content with minimal ads. I will highly recommend it.

Enjoyable. I've even been trying to get 100% achivements. It seems the 2 achivements for rescue and treasure on lv 3 are glitched though since they won't unlock despite being completed.

This is exactly the type of platformers we need on Android. I'm loving this game in all its retro glory. Great gameplay, awesome art style and the controls are so easy to use. Hopefully more games like thus start appearing on the Play Store.

Bug: When you touch pointed/sharp traps FROM SIDES, you still get damaged. Landing on it or getting crushed under is not necessary. + Faster than light achievement is bugged. I got it just for completing all challenge levels, without 3 stars. Suggestion: Control buttons should be resizable. I want bigger buttons. Other than all that, great game. Kutlarım

Finished the game. Got stuck finding 1 villager in 4 levels. You tube helped. Final boss was way to easy to defeat. Had a harder time with the first boss. Only tried twice before beating him and the game. Didn't bother with the timed areas, it's just easy coins to buy cards.

Love this game. Great physics, challenging and short levels, cool enemies. My only complaint is that I had a hard time with the tiny controls. An option to re-size them would be spectacular.

Great game, much much more enjoyable with a gamepad. My only complaint could be that the sounds get very repetitive and you kind of have to farm coins to buy the power ups, but the game is very very good. Hard enough to be a challenge, but not unfair or cheap.

Difficult and awesome game, 10/10, love it You really get the adrenaline when you have only 10% battery, and you are trying to get the level 20 speedrun achievement (finish the last level, the one before the boss, in 2 minutes, is harder than what you think and is the perfect formula for rage) I hope to see more games! Almost perfect game! Very old school, well balanced, challenging, I want more! Congratulations to the developers. Controls are great, but bugged for some screens or when rotated. It has tiny details that make you love it.

Hi i just started playing this game today. And i must say its good. It has retro vibe to it but it is frustrating to reset the level again. If its ok. Please add a checkpoint so it wouldnt be too difficult to reset and reset on the levels. Thank you.

protip: arrange the buttons like the sega genesis and it is much easier to control. even for me who has not played any of these genre of games before the difficulty is fun and won't kill you. there dosen't need to be a good story the gameplay is top quality and a must-play. i am not a hired game reviewer.

Hands down my favorite game for Android, I only wish it were longer. Great controls, a couple of funny glitches where you can get yourself stuck in walls, perfect other than that.

This is by far one of the best sidescrollers there is. The game starts off simple and easy and as you progress the difficulty increases but it never gets too hard. It is similar to the original Castelvania but this one is way more fun. I LOVE IT

Was a solid platformer. Only issue i had was the boss stages would try to go to cinimatic and would just say loading and i had to quit out. Also the all cards acheivement never unlocked for some reason.

This game is truly a gem. My criteria for games is quite high, but this manages to fit all of it: not found on other consoles, quality gameplay and graphics, and satisfying moments.

I had a really fun time playing this game during my breaks. By far it is the the best retro app game I have played. If I come to deny that in the future I'll rewrite my review here, while giving it a worthy recommendation.

Tight control both on Bluetooth & impressively touch. Solid platformer w/ a retro feel. (The boxbreaker achievement seems to be broken, stuck @ 98% though)

One of the best 2d platform arcade games. Good gameplay and my 4 yrs nephew loves playing this game too. Love the fact that it pairs with my 8bitdo bluetooth gamepad. Pls make more games with support for bluetooth gamepad as I love retro style more than swipe and touch.

The whole thing is excellent. Unfortunately, I'm losing my resolve at Act 3 Scene 8, because of the need to restart so often. Would checkpoints be a possibility?

Everyone else seems to be saying that they wanted upgrades, but I like the challenge. Nothing is a 1-hit kill, bringing in a test games seem to be lacking nowadays. Absolutely love this game!
