About Fritz

Anyone who knows how to play chess has almost certainly heard of Fritz. In its early years Fritz was small enough to install on your PC from a ""floppy disk" (something today’s youngest players have probably never even heard of!). In 1995, Fritz won the Computer Chess World Championship, and soon made its way around the world on CD ROMs. The latest version, Fritz 15, is among the strongest multi-core engines in the world.

Now you can play Fritz on your mobile devices!

Chess is meant to be fun – and that’s why the Fritz App has several different playing modes. On the "Amateur" level, you can beat him comfortably. On level "Club Player", you get realistic games where Fritz will actively allow tactic combinations. Switch him to "Master" and it will become tough. Fritz will know every opening variation ever played in master games. But you still have your chances: The innovative "Assisted Play" function will give you subtle hints and protect you from simple blunders.

Using Fritz as a close-to-perfect analysis tool for many years now, so I got this Android "port" just for fun. App keeps cashing all the time - this is bad, want my money back!

Everything you'd expect from a ChessBase product..... Except it crashes, quiet often. You'll make your move, you'll hear the sound of your pieces move. You'll then hear the reply but the game will remain frozen. Force exiting the game will result in the whole game record being lost, or occasionally Fritz will claim victory. Please correct this asap Matthias.

A very good version of Fritz 15 for Android. It plays a "Friendly Game" that's easier for an average player (like me) to play and win on occasion. It has some great features, like a built-in opening book It's not as comprehensive as the full-blown Fritz 15 for PC, but it works well on my smartphone and tablet, providing me with hours of fun.

It's about time a real chess game is available for Android. It still needs improvement but it is a start. Plenty are powerful but I miss the polish of the name brands.

I've revised my previous comments. I had expected the analysis button to be able to perform a full game analysis of databases games rather than simply the next best move. The dashboard button is a speed dial rather than a functional button. Keep going with the feature development please. Android needs a full function Fritz to go with ChessBase.

This is good initiative. Can we expect engine-engine match feature in future versions, and of course tunable engine parameters?

This product is terrible!!! Program constantly stalls and crashes. Games cannot be copied onto other programs like droidfish as they are supposed to - games can not be imported again as they should do. Not user friendly, really needs an internal manual for guidance. Chessbase, a well established company should not release a product that is this bad! It feels as though it was rushed into production and the results speak for them selves. I was really looking forward to this when i purchased the product - very disappointing. I will have serious reservations about buying another chessbase product if this is the standard of there current work. Unbelievably bad for a company of this caliber.

Very few features and board/piece options. Occasionally freezes. Droidfish is far superior and free. Not currently worth the price.

Good app. It would b much helpful if name of the opening is displayed when playing the game and Analysis mode to review/analyze after the game. Options to offer Draw and Resign should also b available.
