About Probability Puzzles

Challenge yourself with probability math puzzles! Your brain will ♥ them, and they're excellent practice for technical interviews -- especially if you expect math or probability questions. With three difficulty levels to choose from, there's a puzzle here for everybody, from beginner to expert. You'll learn probability math all while having fun, even if you've never studied the subject formally.

Solving these puzzles will get you thinking about several powerful concepts in probability, including:

• independence
• expected value
• conditional probability and Bayes' rule
• linearity of expectation
• inclusion-exclusion

This app will be useful to anyone looking for probability exercises, brain teasers, or mathematical puzzles. Enjoy!

What are users saying about Probability Puzzles

This little app contains around 70 probability problems ranging from really simple to terrifyingly complex. If, like me, you (somehow) enjoy solving this stuff this app is perfect in its simplicity. It's also educational and free, who can argue with that?

T70%
by T####:

My new favorite app. The copy and paste/sharing feature could be better though. Also, some of the questions are written incredibly vaguely. For example, it's easy to misinterpret what problem 21 is telling you unless you look at the hint. Some of the questions need to be rewritten to be made less ambiguous.

T70%
by T####:

Drive you absolutely nuts after ~20 quizzes :D Love it. One thing can be worked on is not having the keyboard shown every new quiz, so I can read the quiz before answering them xD

T70%
by T####:

Fun problems good complexity. Didn't see any bugs or incorrect answers (I get salty when I think they have wrong answer). Pharser seemed to be working quite well. I laughed at some of the taunts for getting it wrong.

J70%
by J####:

Poorly written puzzles that are often grammatically incorrect. What these puzzles offer in problem solving it loses in coherent explanations. This also doesn't offer much in way of actually teaching one the logic behind probability rather than puzzles.

T70%
by T####:

It provides hints (not always helpful). Providing detailed solutions with explanations (maybe as links to pages on a website) would help the less experienced users to learn some statistics.

T70%
by T####:

The puzzles are great for getting the maths mind going again, but the snide comments when an answer is wrong are horrible. Instead of sounding like the bullying ninth-grade teacher who puts kids off maths forever, how about explanations of the answer or the maths?

T70%
by T####:

This is fun, educational, and free! Thanks to the dev for taking the time to make it. It would be nice if the keyboard defaulted to numbers but I don't know if it's possible to have that and the symbols

T70%
by T####:

Great app for solving problems in your spare time. I would recommend though to have a space where you can work with your solution, instead of having to do it mentally or on paper.

O70%
by O####:

Amazing app! The math parser for the answers is great and the puzzles are a lot of fun! The app is easy to use and bloat free! I love this so much, I'll recommend this to all my friends, in all probability! (See what I did there?! ku-ku-ku).

V70%
by V####:

Addictive puzzles. It helps that the difficulty goes from ready to harder.

T70%
by T####:

Write in plain English, please!!! I could hardly understand your questions most of the time. For example, puzzle 12 would be a lot easier to understand if your question is something like 'what is the probability for one or more families to have all girls or all boys'.

T70%
by T####:

Great app if you like intelligently thought out probability puzzles, clearly worded and challenging as you start to progress. Hints too if you need them.

C70%
by C####:

I love probability puzzles, but suck at math so I'm strugglig a lot. Luckily if I read it over and over I understad it better. Great game!

V70%
by V####:

Simple but definitely worth recommendation. Allowing the entry of expressions and mathematical constants is a great feature.

T70%
by T####:

Whoever wrote the 'incorrect' statements needs to rethink. You get an answer wrong and get the response 'are you pretending to be bad at this?' wth guys, really?

T70%
by T####:

Its such a good app, but its just so condescending, it makes it horrible

T70%
by T####:

If you like probability problems, the app has some interesting little problems.

L70%
by L####:

Challenging but fair puzzles and plenty of diversity; no ads to be seen. Seems like a gift from one combinatorics geek to another. :)

T70%
by T####:

Appliquez les probabilités, apprenez ou réapprenez les formules de proba. Do you plan to translate it in French?

L70%
by L####:

A nice game with interesting puzzles from very simple to hair-pulling. Delightful for probability enthusiast.

T70%
by T####:

It is really great the best part is that it does not give out the answers till we find it.

T70%
by T####:

Good fun. But let's face it, we're all certifiable nerds here :-)

K70%
by K####:

Good brain teaser app..better if it includes the solution to those we find not solvable at all

T70%
by T####:

A great set of puzzles. I thought I understood probabilities but the easy set showed me otherwise. Always learning!

T70%
by T####:

I hate it. It makes me think. But I seem to come back to it a lot

T70%
by T####:

Good statistical skills workout, ranges from easy to hard and gradually becomes insanly hard to figure out. Nice challenge.

O70%
by O####:

Even easy problems get challenging quickly. Great resource for maths teachers

T70%
by T####:

It's fun and challenging, but without an option for finding solutions with explanations, the app is frustrating.

D70%
by D####:

Best use of my spare time. Just a week and I'm feeling smarter already.

T70%
by T####:

Otherwise good but answers to wrong inputs are awfully condescending.

T70%
by T####:

One could only wish that more people enjoy exercising their analitical skills witj games like this

T70%
by T####:

Well designed all round. Hope to see more problems added.

T70%
by T####:

Very great and simple. If you like math problems you'll like this.

B70%
by B####:

If I'm on 7 and need/want to go back to 5 can't do so. Have to start from 0. Also can't do the converse. Probably due to former instance.

T70%
by T####:

Nice puzzles! Would be nice to have my data synced/online though.

D70%
by D####:

This app is awesome. Everyone, from a beginner to expert in probability, can use this app. All the puzzles are great.

T70%
by T####:

Better if they can give us answers let's say after a period of time. And also if they can show their working

T70%
by T####:

Fun challenges. Relates very well to my studies in Discrete Structures class.

T70%
by T####:

Overall a good simulation for my brain but I wish that there was a way to see the answer and the solution to the answer. Or at least a link to the answers.
