Woody

Obwohl die Städte Wien und Linz rund 145.000 Bäume betreuen, fehlt vielen Menschen ein Bezug zur Natur im urbanen Umfeld. Woody ist eine App welche auf spielerische Art ein Bewusstsein für die Bäume schafft. Ziel der App ist es, den kleinen Holzwurm namens Woody mit Holz zu versorgen. Das Besondere daran ist, dass man sich physisch vor einem echten Baum befinden muss, um die Nahrung auf verschiedene Arten zu beschaffen: Baum fällen und Holzvorrat sichern oder doch lieber Woody für einen harmlosen Snack am Baum absetzen?
Zusammen mit einer Karte und „Baumpedia“ ist diese App ein pädagogisch wertvolles sowie sehr unterhaltsames Spiel für alle Altersgruppen.
Dieses Projekt wurde im Rahmen einer Lehrveranstaltung der Forschungsgruppe INSO (http://www.inso.tuwien.ac.at) der TU Wien entwickelt.
Woody wurde bereits mehrmals ausgezeichnet. Unter anderem in der Kategorie "Go Green" beim European Youth Award, 1. Platz in der Kategorie Apps beim Apps4Austria Award, den Infoscreen-Award beim Content Award, sowie nominiert für den World Summit Award.

Woody is an app which creates a playful way an awareness of the trees. The aim of the app is to provide the small wooden worm called Woody with wood. The remarkable thing is that you physically have to be in front of a real tree in order to procure food in different ways: Tree cut down and secure supply of wood or maybe Woody settle for a harmless snack on the tree?
Together with a map and "Baumpedia" is this app an educationally valuable and very entertaining game for all ages.
This project was developed by the Vienna University of Technology as part of a course organized by the research group INSO (http://www.inso.tuwien.ac.at).
Woody has been awarded several times. Among other things, in the category of "Go Green" at the European Youth Award, 1st In the category of apps on the Apps4Austria Award, the Info Screen Award at the Content Award, and nominated for the World Summit Award.
