About astrofishies

astrofishies is a simple real time strategy game that is easy to play, yet hard to master. The goal of your fishies is to defeat their archnemesis: the Badfishies. As god of the Goodfishies, you help them by altering the environment around them.

Each fish is fully controlled by a simple AI; which combines a basic state machine, and a rudimentary neural network. The original idea was to mimic how bacteria replicate and survive (under stupid guise of giant fish in space)...but ended up evolving into some kind of RTS.

At first you had almost no control over what they did, it was all up to them. Later I added the ability to influence the environment in localized areas (attract your fishies to a location, slow down the simulation in an area, speed up the simulation in an area, and create a "shield" around an area); Then due to popular demand (people who I let play it), I added the ability to select all fishies of a specific type and order them to attack a single enemy. Which I felt was sufficient for a simple RTS on a touchscreen device with limited screen space...you have to dumb it down. I always grouped like units together anyway.

Have fun and thanks for playing!

I came across this on the keyword "neural network". I've been looking all over for stuff on Android concerning life and evolution simulation, but I haven't found much more than a rubbish clone of a flash game called boxcar2d (and a classier version of that). I read through the description for info and I thought I had found a wonderful aquarium that I could use without the RTS elements; I was sadly disappointed. I would love the author to re-implement the simulation aspect of the program, as an alternative.

It needs more options like more fish or upgrades for those fish other than that it is an amazing and addictive

Fun to play, and easy to play. Everything I wanted from a quick session game.

The game has so much strategy to it. You have to antisapate wher your fish will push the bad fish. One thing I would add is a timer for how long each power lasts. Amzing game. :)

Great game, if you are a noob know this: red fishes are op. Just throw one of them at a horde of enemy fighters, cast the speed spell on him, and BOOM instant red horde.

I would rate it a 4 probably, because I'm not entirely blown away by the thing, but this app is no frills, no bs. It doesn't even run in the background when idle. Many devs think trickery is the way to go, but that's just heinous. THIS dev does it right. Yeah, I'm not blown away, but I'm still havin fun. Good game and good moral fiber to boot!
