Glitch. Went through the entire game twice with my kids and both times we ended up with an extra yellow puzzle piece for the snake. All puzzles were complete, but it wouldn't allow me to enter the number into the box in the snake puzzle because there was an extra yellow puzzle piece in the inventory. Could not finish game due to glitch. Update: It looks like the problem is gone.
