إن المصباح السحري هو ناد سينمائي دولي للأطفال يعمل على التربية على الصورة. يكتشف الأعضاء، مرة في الشهر، فيلما جديدا في قاعة السينما. كما يتوصل الأعضاء قبل كل عرض سينمائي بنشرة مُصوَّرَة التي تُعَرِّفُهُم على الفيلم المُبَرْمَج وذلك قبل أيام لكي يطلعوا عليها جيدا. ويشاهدون، عادة، قبل بداية العرض السينمائي عرضا مسرحيا مُسلياً ومُفيداً يهيئهم لهذا الاكتشاف الجميل والمفيد في التكوين السينمائي.
بالإضافة لعروضه الدورية الاعتيادية في حوالي 100 ناد عبر العالم، فإن المصباح السحري يشارك بفعالية في كثير من المدارس والمهرجانات والمناسبات السينمائية وأيضا في التلفزيون والانترنيت
