Tracks4Africa Navigation for Android
The idea is great but the app itself is honestly the worst I've ever used.
Software rubbish! If you could only get it to load!!!
Expected so much more. Over prices for what you get.
Careful there are 2 apps. Following their website you might think its what you need but its not, its just a very expensive GPS app, with an outdated interface. No manual. Keypad on 7'' not usable. You need to learn a lot of workarounds to find remote places. GPS reception very slow, often doesnt find satellites. Users used to T4A on laptop, rather use the maps on a sd card in a Garmin gps. Even a cheapie works fine.
Definitely not worth asking price, guidance is dreadful... was in Botswana and could not search for makgadigadi pans but could find obscure places like Khama rhino sanctuary. GPS keeps dropping, I tested with Google Maps over a period of 3 days and never lost GPS signal once, tracks4Africa would lose GPS repeatedly every 2-5 minutes. Kept getting warnings of speed limit for 50km an hour in 120km zones. Do not even attempt navigation around towns and built up areas... YOU WILL GET LOST!!. Google Maps better
Great maps but the app is terrible! Very frustrating to use. Something that you might expect from a free app not from such an expensive one. Just don't buy it.
As always the Tracks 4 Africa maps are the best in the business but they are let down terribly but the horrifically bad software. Please fix!!
Not up to T4A standards. Not useable for most requirements
Not very user friendly
Can't wait to get back to South Africa and push for a refund. Constantly got errors saying it's needs the internet to verify my account, not great in rural Zim!!! Plus almost cost me a $100 US fine as is camp info was incorrect by 4km!, I ended up using the free gps app on my phone. In fact I'm typing this from a location just outside Harare which T4A has no roads about...yet my free gps software has it all. T4A is a waste of money especially for Zim and it's parks. As for UI rubbish would be a compliment.
Loved this app, dont know what everyone is going in about! This app will guide you from anywhere to anywhere! Google maps complains about not being on a road all the time! This app is the answer!
weak map for serious 4x4. rather disappointing. tried it this weekend on known locations and the result was more than lacking. too bad I can't get a refund anymore.
T4A is part of all my trips in Africa. I realy enjoy T4A on my Android phone! Thanx Brandt and Johann
Map detail: Poor Navigation: Fair. Dissapointment compared to other T4A products.
What a complex app to use. Just try changing your start location to something other than where you are and see how you make out. Very disappointed. Could have just stuck with google maps and been better off
Great app

This could be an amazing tool, but the interface lets it down sooooo badly. How about an optional menu bar for beginners which would allow for basic operations such as creating a simple route.
Thanks guys. Just done 3500kms in Botswana and Zimbabwe with T4A loaded on my Samsung S4. Brilliant and no complaints. Still need to check some functionality with the developer but nothing major that affects the usage and reliability. Great search functionality and everything we wanted to find was there. Battery consumption is high so phone has to be connected to the charger all the time which is not an issue in the vehicle. Well done!
Very disappointing! Used it recently in Namibia but would definitely not buy this app again. The app user interface and functionality is frustrating, unintuitive, very outdated and not up to par with other navigation apps. The maps are not up to date and navigating from or to "restricted" places is refused by the app despite lawfully getting to campsites (e.g. Olifantsrus in Etosha) - totally unacceptable.
App is very disappointing, only buy if you really need the tracks 4 africa map on your phone. Map is outdated, interface is old fashioned, frustrating and slow, and lot of functionalities are lacking. Maybe the development team should look at other navigation apps for inspiration. Way too expensive for what you get.
At last an offline (no Internet connection required) navigation application for Africa. Although some of the dashboard displays are a bit small and not so easy to read the App is a godsend!!
Great app for adventure travel in Africa. Well done

Just came back from Botswana. Had the app installed on phone and tablet. On phone, in the mid of bush tried to start to dowload something and the app wouldn't start. On tablet it wanted to verify the account. Of course without internet impossible!. So it left us out without opening on any of those 2 device. What a piece of crap! Luckily I also downloaded offline google maps - some of the parts of Chobe, otherwise it would spoil the trip. DON'T BUY IT!
