CitySpy

CitySpy is an app that uniquely incorporates community policing into its platform to reduce crime.

Community policing simply refers to an approach used in crime prevention where information about crimes are communicated between community members and between police and community members.

CitySpy attempts to streamline this communication by merging community policing strategies with location-based social networking strategies.


HOW DOES IT WORK?
CitySpy works by allowing users to report crimes and notify other users within 2km's on the details of those crimes. For example, a mall is being robbed and the perpetrators flee the scene in a red car. A witness to this crime may submit a report on the app giving details such as the perpetrators description, a picture, and a description of the vehicle they fled in. Everyone within 2km's will then be notified of this incident (hopefully a police officer that is using the app too) and if any of the notified users spots suspects matching the description given of the perpetrators, they can then say - on the app - that they have spotted them. Everyone within 2km's will then be notified again, along with the new location of the perpetrators. This process continues until the they are caught or no one spots them anymore.
