Logical Defense for Android
You slanted appeal to authority. Appeal to authority is not limited to unqualified authority but ANY authority as qualifications can be subjective and an authority can be both qualified AND wrong.
This app/guide is so necessary in the age of online argument. Awesome!
It's an app that teachers you to argue with malformed arguments.
'Spotlight' and 'Division' seem to be essentially the same thing...
It's great, the only thing I'd change is adding a search function.
Reductionist logia.
"Since this logic app uses examples that support liberal views, those liberal views must true." Which defense is that? Or "Negative reviewers must have a conservative bias and therefore must be using fallacies. How ironic." How about that one? I read the developer's replies to those who noticed the bias and appreciated that he was receptive to concerns. Other reviewers, not so much. We are so saturated with bias from all sides these days. Please, let's keep politics out of these apps so everyone can enjoy them without more division.
For someone who made an app to combat bias, your app is pretty biased. You're not a good example of your app in action, making it seem like, maybe, it doesn't actually work. @ grady glenn: you used a sweeping generalization (common knowledge), an appeal to ridicule (which you wouldn't know from the poor definitions in this app), and just old-fashioned hypocrisy. You should update your rating. The app isn't working for you.
These negative reviewers are biased and guilty of using these fallacies. Hilarious.
It's hilarious that this list of logical fallicies is illustrated with "thought crimes". It COULD have been so good...
It's a nice list of the most common fallacies. Good quick resource.
Amazing! But you should put a Quiz mode on it to know better!!!
It's light and helpful. Thank you for making!
MORE EXAMPLES!!! :D and how do we counter these?
This is great! Just add a quiz!
Tell me it's not so.....
Awesome to keep around
Simple but thought provoking. I'm amazed at some of the negative reviews here, perhaps from people who use precisely the sorts of examples given to justify their own arguments or beliefs? Well I like to be challenged. I like to be made to think about whether I might be using spurious reasoning to justify my own view of life, the universe and everything. So good stuff, Luke!
Does not explain anything. This is literally only word for word examples. There is no depth to this. Was kind of confused on where to start then i realized this is it, only examples and no real reasoning of the argument explained. Its rather boring.
Nice concept. Consult a philosopher or a smart person about your examples though. Many are not truly fallacies, and many of your example sentences are poor representations of what they are supposed to support. For example, an appeal to probability may be fallacious if used to suggest absolute certainty where none exists. However, it is often rational to believe something for which there is a sufficiently high probability. Your example for Appeal to Ridicule is also misguided. The comparison between belief in gods and belief in the tooth fairy is intended to demonstrate that the claims used to support each are similar (often identical). That it makes such belief sound rediculous is the intent, but it's not a fallacy. It would only be fallacious if the argument went "Belief in X is wrong BECAUSE it sounds delicious."
Great. I know it would involve a lot more code, but it would be good if you could tick the arguments you have learnt so that you can focus on more unfamiliar concepts
Really love it and my debate team will love it too
It makes you think
The best logic I've ever seen!
Invicta
Really useful and helpful! For every one saying the examples are biased- maybe it's because you're logic needs some work! There is literally industries built on gullible folks who'll believe different rhetorics paid for in millions! Don't let false propoganda win!:)
Funny, a different app I was just looking at was basically the "Magic 8-ball" in digital form& people wrote rave reviews. This app, while limited to a set of examples used for educating, actually contains useful constructs for basing logical thought patterns. While it may only take an hour to devour it, I admire the truth it contains. It scares me to think how many people want to be fed nothing because of an apparent fear of finding out there really is a right and wrong. Good work here! :-)
As there's no such thing as left-wing mathematics or a right-wing scientific method, there's no such thing "left logic" (or "right logic"). There is only >Logic<! This app is a fine resource, & there's no need remove political examples. Risible is the sophomoric dross that's intrinsic to the solipsists who say the app is "too politically biased", whose own biases occlude them from seeing this app as even-handed and balanced. Regardless, it might help if the author uses other examples in addition to the political.
The app is good but almost every time I read an example I find left-logic. The app would be so much better if you could limit your personal views or add opposing views to balance the political influences.
As a christian feminist and strong and independent gun advocate, I have never been as offended as by this app. Over 9000 Huffington Post and InfoWars readers agree it's all leftist propaganda, misogynist bile and fake news. Also the app's release was ordered by Russia.
Aptly named app. Timely in the Age of Ignorance, pressure to change even historical fact; Revisionist history. A good "weapon" to have (i.e. see some 1⭐ Reviews finding bias in logic ?! ) in the assault against reason.
Having used the likes of Duolingo a lot, this app could use gamifying. A passive list of logical fallacies is not the best way to long-term absorption I feel. Maybe some sort of simple pairing game might help?
A pretty good app, some bias is present, although it certainly isn't a big problem, and there are some pretty funny and somtimes obscure examples used for the fallacy in question. My biggest problem is that in a few fallacies the example isn't exactly clear, but overall a good app. Also I'm not sure if the developer could implement this, but it would be nice if I could look in one or several examples of a fallacy used in conversation. Or if there was a practice mode for identifying fallicies.
Seems solid. Ignore the sensitive people complaining about "politics". The examples are sound and that's what matters to logic. Ignore the people being sensitive about their unsound rationale. Wouldn't mind further examples, though. Would probably make some people less prickly as well as further clarifying the idea. Showing and explaining the propositional logic would also be really great for those looking to further understand the fundamental structure at play.
As the title suggests, it is an excellent app. The only people who seem to take offense and call it 'left bias' seem to take offense with using examples of climate change deniers and the absurdity of calling Obama a Muslim. I think the examples are great choices that use current, real world, known scenarios and people to illustrate the logic fallacy at work. Good job app creator and don't give in to these ignoramus people.
Given the open source nature of the project, you may want to put some sort of suggestions option for the fallacies you might have missed out
The app is great, but it's a shame the creators couldn't make questions that weren't politically biased. I'd like to think this should be completely educational and not pushing an agenda.
I learned a bit from this app about logical fallacies but a lot of the examples were drawn from politics or religion, which made them annoying to read. It doesn't seem like the devs are trying to push an agenda though. Using controversial topics at least made the examples more memorable. If you can resist rolling your eyes at the "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" example for the LIE fallacy, get this app.
Does exactly what it says it does, thus all apps do what they say they do. I did see political bias, but saw it in both the conservative and hippie side. Would prefer examples that weren't loaded, those the author is a hater, and probably voted for Biden and Cruz and thus responsible for polar ice cap melting and increase in abortion.

Great app. The only people complaining about it are the ones who use these tactics in arguments, as they can't win any other way. Also, most of the detractors are just butthurt about the examples. Overall, wonderful app. I definitely recommend it.
