Discovery Insure is motor insurance for good drivers.

Through, our smartphone-enabled DQ-Track, which incorporates the Discovery Insure app and our tag device, Discovery Insure clients get real-time feedback on their driving, amongst other innovative features. Good driving earns fuel rewards - our clients can get up to R800 back every month.

To get your rewards, you need to install our tag device and make sure it’s linked to the Discovery Insure app. Then, activate your Vitalitydrive card by SMS or online at www.discovery.co.za, and always swipe it when you fill up at BP. You can also get rewarded for your Gautrain spend. Simply link your Gautrain Gold card at www.discovery.co.za.

Note: The Discovery Insure app uses Location Services. When not driving, it does not use GPS. It uses battery-efficient methods to automatically determine the start of a trip, and stops detailed monitoring soon after a trip ends. The app is aware of your battery life and will not start monitoring a drive if the battery is low. Although the app has been designed to use the phone's sensors in a battery-efficient way, running the app without a charger on long trips may drain the battery.

On the 20 feb got a new tag and all is ok. The gentelman i spoke to advised that they would rectify my ponts the same as Dec and asjust the payment. I did not see the adjustment?

This app is not always working. Sometimes it doesn't record my driving activity at all... even though my phone is on. "Phone not present" appears all too often...not true!

Majority of trips doesn't get recorded. It says 'phone is not present', although my phone is always present, always at the same place and Bluetooth is never switched off. Losing lots of points over this.

Shows too many 'phone not present' for trips. My phone is ALWAYS present with Bluetooth on. You loose points for braking when another motorist is responsible. You loose points for phone use (even with a Parrot bluetooth setup), but how am I able to make calls without handling my phone? Ever tried Afrikaans for voice dialling?? Another thing... just got scored negatively for speeding on a route that I positively not took. I drove a straigh line, but tracker show I took a parallel and left and right route.

Doesn't work. It connects to the car when it feels like it. Points from trips no longer get recorded. This is now costing me money, instead of earning. Update... I was contacted by Discovery, it seems the tag is faulty. Once I have had it replaced, I will review my rating.

How is it possible to go from a high score for over half the year since I started with scoring always increasing to losing points consistently over the past few weeks? My driving style has not diminished and since I started losing points I have been even more conscience of my driving. To back this up, they have sent me my weekly driving reports with scoring way above average (90+) and 5 star trips on the app. Yet it still goes down?! Maybe as someone has mentioned they are needed to pay too much out...

Always a new problem with the app. Took my car to Tiger Wheel and Tyre, paid for the check and showed them that my service was up to date. They updated it on their computer but nothing has reflected on the app. Besides this my points were stuck on 7 for a month regardless of my 5 star rating everyday.

This app is great if you don't care about battery life. If you do care, you're out of luck, because if you put power saving on, then your phone won't be recorded as present when you drive, even if you have location and blue tooth on. Many of the reviews complaining appear to be because of this. I am unlikely to remember to continually turn either blue tooth and location on and off, or power saving, before each of my multiple short trips in a day. It also doesn't warn you trips aren't being recorded if power saving is on - you'll only know if you actually check the app. The point here is this - if your phone is on power saving, the app will not record the trip. The issue is not whether the app uses battery or not - but that it cannot deal with a phone's power saving setting being on.

A lot of times it says trip not recording for no reason. Called DQ track and nothing wrong with my phone ... just not picking up. Lots of my Discovery clients complain about the same.

Just drove over 30 minutes and nothing displays. No indication of the trip started to record. Even got a new DQ device. Tag shows connected.

Horrible. I've had two devices already.. The first one only lasted one trip and I had to go back to TW&T to replace it. Now a handful of months later, no trips have been recorded since 3 Feb and the app cannot see the tag even though it seems to be fine since the red light comes on when pressing the button. I've restarted my phone, cleared the apps data, reinstalled the app, reset permissions, tried to 'forget' and reconnect the device... Nothing. Not worth the pain.

I do not understand why I should be penalized for emergency braking to avoid an accident that is caused by someone else's mistake? I would consider that as good braking as it prevents an accident. The driving monitoring system is not ideal as it does not consider the drivers perspective...but rather takes a system driven situation in an ideal environment. This in my view is a failure. We being penalized for other drivers mistakes because we took the necessary precautions is ridiculous.

Previously reported app was glitchy. Now with the updated app is even worse. Now my trips are not even recorded! Every trip has the same story, no connection made to phone. This even though bluetooth and location are enabled, and I feel the friendly vibration which serves as a telnet that s connection had been made from phone to system! App doesn't force shut anymore which is great but unhelpful if my trips aren't recorded and gives me a minimal rating as a driver because of this.... also not the first time I an reporting this but yet nothing gets done. Unacceptable really

Good App but it has a few issues I don't agree with that I understand are hard to overcome. 1. Harsh breaking to avoid an accident, red robot etc. You're penalised for it. 2. Phone use while in use of a bluetooth radio kit. 3. Speeding on an onramp to the highway while not actually speeding. Apart from having a Huawei P9 I can't use the app with I haven't had the connectin issues that others have had. I'm forced to use my tablet which doesn't work quite the same and now I'm forced to take my tablet everywhere I drive. Not completely practical. Other than that the app works great.

Utterly useless, started off brilliantly, making it worthwhile to be insured by Discovery, since March 2016 it has been down hill. Repeated emails, calls result in nothing. As per everyone else complaining, trips not recorded, phone not present.. etc etc etc. Get the feeling from all the other reviews that this is how discovery operates, impress you for the first few months then it all goes downhill from there. Beyond unimpressed

Discovery got back to me quickly. Appears that the App Power Saving on the S7 Edge was killing the app. Have disabled it and will see if that solves the issue. Would be nice if the app could tell you when the tag is malfunctioning.

After somewhat of a good start for a month I would like to know why when I consistently get 4-5 stars for almost a week my ratings doesn't go up but guess what one 3 stars I get penalised and my points decrease. 98% 4-5 starts points remain the same - 2% 1-3 stars you get nailed. Please explain

I have literally travelled short distances to work everyday and my score keeps reducing. If I get 4 stars and above then it barely increases my points. I'd rather move to another insurer than pay for a "reward" that never actually records my trips properly.

Trips are not being recorded. A couple of trips get recorded but majority show 'phone not present', yet bluetooth and gps are both on and phone is always in the exact same place in the car. Extremely frustrating and impacts negatively on the scores. Please sort out asap!

Please remove tag not connected trips as this continues being having a negative impact. Also, this morning the gps picked up at the end of my trip and scored me badly since it thought I was doing a straight beeline across town!!! I certainly was neither speeding nor in a helicopter. Even though tag shows as connected, over the past weeks my score has almost halved as result. Out of 24 trips since Dec 23 update: 16 shows as phone not present; 7 shows insufficient data to score (acceleration, breaking, cornering NOT recorded); 1 showed phone use where there was none; 2 showed speeding in an area where I am driving slower than 60

Since the latest update, the scoring seems way off. One minor 'acceleration' event gives me one red star, which was actually normal acceleration. Same with one minor braking event due to someone pulling out in front of me and I get severely "punished" by the app scoring. I drive carefully and defensively yet my score keeps dropping ! Also, my wife has the DQ smartphone in her vehicle as well which is linked to her phone and her profile on the policy, yet her driving score never changes and it affects my driving score. Surely if its two different vehicles linked to two different phones and two different people, it should separate from each other? Not at all impressed with this! Also, I havent seen her fuel purchases which are swiped on her insure card reflecting on the policy, so I am loosing out even more there....

I am watching my parked car right now, yet I got a notification a few minutes ago that my car is on the move. 2nd time today. How am I supposed to believe my results when it's clearly faulty?

I have had this app since I started with discovery insurance, and alot of times the thing picks up my trip and says that phone was not with, although my location and Bluetooth stays on This is effecting my rating and think it needs to get sortes

I am currently havin a problem with the app frim last month it is showing 7 as my driving . I hv called in they have changed de tag for me bt nothing has changed . I dnt knw what mote to do as a result im lossing out in my cash back because my score is affected by this.

Stupid app that hardly works. Spent thousands in new phones to get crap software full of bugs that does not track and give wrong info. Phone not connected halve the time... I think you app dev is not connected....

Terrible !! At times the app shows the vehicle is still parked for days in "find my vehicles". It also stops connecting halfway through a trip and you lose points for "phone not present". Its unfair that we should lose points for the suppliers faulty app, besides we are paying for it.

Nice idea if it actually worked. Misses more trips than it records. Uninstalled app and then reinstalled it now can't get passed the pin. Plenty of bugs.

I'm actually reloading the app. Too many "record without phone present"; although my phone is always present with data and Bluetooth on. Reported this 3 times already, still no response. Since yesterday it did not record at all. This is my second DQ tag and I've lost points on this already

Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. I have exactly the same issue as the guys below, and overall not very happy with the app's performance so far.

Since the last couple of upgrades the software does not record trips regularly, the only way for me to get the trip recorded is by going into accounts, then selecting replace tag hold the tag button in for a few seconds then go back and its connected, please fix your issues or at least test it before releasing

You know how frustrating it is to drive like grandma and obey every speed limit because your device is online, only to be deducted points and be told device was not connected? :(
