About Implicit Association Test

The Implicit Association Test (IAT) is a procedure that detects automatic and unconscious associations between ideas, concepts and categories, providing a measure of how beliefs, attitudes and stereotypes may be more or less strong and deep-rooted.
In this case, the Gender-Career IAT often reveals a relative link between family and females and between career and males.
How it works:
are presented a set of words to classify into groups, as quickly as possible, making as few mistakes as possible. The interaction with the screen can be done in 2 ways: through 2 virtual buttons at the bottom of the screen, or, in the second mode, the screen is split into 2 parts and you can interact by simply pressing the left side or right side of the screen (in the app are given detailed instructions on how to proceed). In the Settings menu, you can choose the mode of interaction and access to some research options.
At the end of the test (which takes about 5 minutes), will provide a brief interpretation of the results obtained based on the response times recorded by the software. In this regard, the developer wants to clarify that this interpretation is a hypothesis and has no claim to absolute validity.

Test results Feedback - I scored as having a very slight bias towards female/career. Actually, I think I had a bias the other way as I noticed it was much easier to remember where to tap when the categories were female+family, so I concentrated more and was more careful when it was female+career to compensate. :)

Z70%

I made mistakes less frequently later on as I got better at it. I'm sure I'd be able to do it with no mistakes after a little practice, regardless of "implicit bias". It's not very scientific, and I don't think that the answers should be taken particularly seriously.

The test gets you used to one system first and then changes. I would be interested to see results where the opposite is first

T70%

Needs the full range of tests from the IAT project. Perfect otherwise.

V70%

And like other comments, ii would love to have all the other tests available on the implicit project. Thank you so much!

This app does not test for anything. It gives you straightforward questions and changes the location of the answers to confuse you into making a mistake, suggesting that you have a bias. Not even worth the time it took to download.

Would be nice to cover more subjects besides just gender bias.

It's great to have this as an app; wouldn't it be easy to load it with a plethora of other tests?

Q70%
by Q####:

I would like this to have racial and sexual orientation IATS as well.

I had no idea what the app was supposed to do but having taken the test it is quite good at explaining the results and what they mean. Short lived use app though so once you have used it...expect to uninstall.

Good/applies to social psychology

Great app clearly helps demonstrate some of innate biases we all have as a result of growing in western culture. BUT the order of the experiment should be change! Put the test men/career + women/family first before men/family + women/career. In doing so the result of the experiment is made more clear since the tests will be presented in the order of increasing difficulty. You will feel the tests get harder and thus see your innate biases at work!

While the idea of this is good, I'm not sure if it works for me. My reaction time between each answer was pretty much the same on every item. So that really puts me at a disadvantage since it says I have little to no bias one way or the other. Sooo.... I may or may not (not sure). So - eh. It's an interesting app though. No flashy graphics to slow you down which is nice for this kind of app.

It shows scores based on how fast and how many things u put in the wrong column part of my problem is if u r not fast at typing with your thumbs ( I am not) then u suck at it oh well it's cool though not a keeper though
