Catholic Bible - Audio & Daily Reading

I like many of the extras--night reading setting, highlighting, note taking, phrase search. I do not care much for the translation, though. Some of the poetry is lost, and in some instances, the meanings of verses are altered. Compare The Catholic Study Bible by New American Bible's Psalm 9:21 "Strike them with terror, Lord; show the nations they are mere mortals." Versus this app's Psalm 9:21 "O Lord, establish a lawgiver over them, so that the Gentiles may know that they are only men." While the app may follow the Septuagint translation, I prefer OT translations of the Old Hebrew, when possible. The problem with the numbering of the Psalms lies with the use of the Septuagint translation, as well. What is labeled as Psalm 9 with 39 verses in this app is in the Hebrew text as Psalm 9 (21 verses including the background information as "verse 1") and Psalm 10 (18 verses). Therefore the "Lord is My Shepherd" psalm is Psalm 22 in this app (although you will not find here the word "shepherd" in the psalm's translation).

Please fix in inaccuracies between this and other Catholic Bibles. This isn't a translation issue. Bible verses are either mislabeled or in the wrong spot. For instance, this app has Psalm 37:4 as "There is no health in my flesh before the face of your wrath. There is no peace for my bones before the face the face of my sins." My physical copy of the Catholic Bible has this verse to be: "Find your delight in the Lord who will give you your heart's desire."

The reason for the different verse numbers in the Old Testament is because the the Latin Vulgate and subsequently the challoner-rheims version is based on their Greek Septuagint numbering system whereas the Protestant Old Testament is based on the Hebrews masoretic texts. Both are used, but in the King James, nasb, etc., the masoretic numbering system is used.

Just need to double check some of the chapters as they are misplaced such as psalm 23, 118 and 119. In response to your feedback i think you should read an actually bible as psalm 23 is one of the most powerful and quoted psalms which is " The Lord is my Shepherd " instead of getting all your info off the Internet

Please there's a misalignment of the chapters of some of the books with the established Catholic Bibles. For instance, Psalm 23 " The Lord is my Shepherd" is presented as chapter 22. This is confusing. Pls fix .

Really like this app, easy to use. I like how you can have all your hilighted verses in one place. I like the option to have it read to you but I dislike the voice used, it's too robotic and mispronounces simple words. Other than that, it's a great Bible app.

Just new to this app. I really like it so far. Loved that my 13yr old son didn't turn it off as I listened, he just joined me. I'll try different accents for the reader when I can work it out.

I already use the non audio version of this app which I am happy with. Excellent customer support helped me sort out my audio issues on the same day. App is just what I am after

Being able to highlight in different colors is great. Leads me in peace and harmony as can can sit in a darkened room and listen to the recording. Really love this app. It is blessing and hopefully by contemplating the readings I will grow in all areas of my life. Thank you for making this available for free.

Firstly , thanks a lot for this priceless gift through the Sacred Scriptures :) Secondly, I would suggest to give a spiritual explanation for each verse of each chapter to allow us meditating upon it and to understand its essence:) May the peace of The Lord be with you????

Great app very helpful and easy to use, however the audio bar is across the verses being read. Please move the bar to a better location during during audio and visual studying. Thank you and God Bless!

Superb but while it's on reading mode I'm not able to see n read with it coz the save, play n pause options are hiding the words which s a lil uncomfortable kindly work on tat . Ty guys . God Bless????

I love this Holy Bible. Thanks a lot. I don't like the ads which are shown below each page. All the verses in the Psalm are not there. Eg.Psalm139 verses 23, 24 is not there.Only upto verse14 is there.why?

It's just nice to have my Catholic bible in my phone. Is it possible to selected specific passage and set alarms to read them every day? Thank you

I love the auto read. I can read the bible myself or just listen at my own leisure and enjoy.

Robotic voice but a lot of nice features with Highlighting and adding notes to passages. Very effective for bible study.

This app has audio reading but doesn't show the text while reading

Excellet APP. Best feature is abilty to have the bible read aloud. This is great for listening when working or traveling.
