About SoSec
The issues which perturb the existence of women in India are varied. They range from lack of access to education, to discrimination in the workforce, and to gender based violence. Governmental policies and schemes aim to address these issues through various financial and skill building measures. Delhi Government has a number of schemes which directly aim to aid the differential needs of women and girls through their life cycles.
However, up-to-date information about these schemes is often difficult to obtain. For social workers and community workers it becomes a complicated and time consuming task to figure out what girls and women are entitled to. For this reason, this app has been developed to bridge gap between the agencies of the Government providing services and administering welfare schemes and the community members using them. It provides clear information on the benefits, eligibility and time frames of the different schemes. Additionally it guides women and girls through the application process by informing them which documents they need in order to apply for the respective schemes. The app is expected to revolutionize the way information about social welfare is currently provided to social workers and to women and girls themselves. Over time, it will help to uplift the low social status of women and girls in India by improving their accessibility to the support they need.
The app is developed by Center for Social Research (CSR). CSR is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation based in New Delhi aiming to empower the women and girls of India. , guarantee their fundamental rights, and increase understanding of social issues from a gender perspective. CSR operates on local, national and regional levels in an effort to enhance the capacities of individuals, communities and institutions for creating a humane, equitable and gender-just society.
