Vicinity

Vicinity’s aim is to allow connectivity among people in the absence of Internet by exploiting and facilitating an existing wireless technology. It uses WiFi Direct technology in combination with Network Service Discovery. WiFi Direct allows devices to connect with each other in peer-to-peer manner without the need for a physical access point.

Vicinity combines social networking and private messaging, it provides the users with a public timeline that enables them to connect and share their activities with other users within the range of their devices. In addition, Vicinity provides private one-to-one instant messaging between users.
