VerbTeX Pro LaTeX Editor for Android
Efficient for LaTeX editing, could be better with possibility to compile localy
It owns every cent, amazing and simple.
Great application
I can compile my whole thesis with this! I've updated this review after talking to the developer. This is a very useful app and an excellent project. The developer also is friendly and helpful.
As a beginner using LaTeX I find the easily accessible logfile very helpful. New project/file creation is OK as I am only working locally. I like it that pdf output is immediately displayed thought Foxit app which I had already installed.
For a big documents it takes too much time to scroll from top to bottom. Each time I have to set the toolbar option.
Excellent app! I normally use it to make minor changes to the TexMaker LaTeX code that I create on my computer
Very clean LaTeX creation environment. I like it.
Very useful app.
Can no longer generate pdfs. Takes forever to get to 50% uploaded and then fails with the message 'No internet connection available.' It also sometimes bugs out when Iam working and I lose unsaved changes.
Slow.
Great app that I use to type up all my maths assignments. Would be even better if it supported a split screen mode
Need to have more editor functionality like search and undo/redo and autocomplete.
How to compile it by using xelatex engine?
Great Latex app
Need UnDo ReDo functionality.
Great for on the go latex editing
very good
Also needs online connection to do so
In my opinion this is an excellent app for editing your LaTeX documents everywhere with an Internet connection. It is simple, fast and does what it is supposed to do. And you are taken into account when trying to propose new possible features. Great job! An interesting new feature would be an Undo button, because if you erase something unintentionally, you may go crazy!
I love this app a lot but I wish the developer would let the PDF be compiled on your Android device. With a 16 or 32 GB card, this should be easy. And how about a way to store the packages on your external card? Just a thought.
Updated review: I use this app for everything: assigments, papers, class notes. I can't tell you how useful this app is. In my last review I mentioned a few things that would make this app better, and most of them have now been met! Facebook integration, auto saving were both things I requested. The developer is constantly improving this app. I find there is a new update for this app at least once a month and often with big things. The only things left I'd like to see is to speed up the app with longer documents, an undo button, and a scrolling feature. If those features were included, I'd give this app 6 out of 5 stars.
When using smartphone Android VerbTex application with Dropbox local file share feature; as a result, editing smartphone tex LaTeX2e files, processing to Pdf file by VerbTex, then view pdf immediate results. Requires phone connection to network for VerTex Tex LaTex processing. Dropbox file(s) sync to other shared Dropbox computer(s) set up that can process and display Tex files with other LaTeX2e and display packages. Want to work on your Tex file with your small Android smartphone; follows, VerbTex.
This app is great for editing and compiling latex documents on the go. Works amazing with the keyboard dock on the Asus Infinity. Interface could be slightly better, but unlimited documents and ease of transfer (file manager) gives this app 5 stars. Great job!
Even Pro version refuses to compile 3rd file in Local project. Remote is extremely slow. Inability to keep Local in a Dropbox folder like iVerbTex on iOS does is a big minus too, especially for a paid version.
The worst thing can ever happen with a LaTex editor! And it happens with both free and professional (paid) versions. With a Local mode of saving files, the program saves the bibliography as both .tex and .bib files. So I had two bibliographies and no real document at all. It was lost!!! Unbelievably, it happened more than 2 times and caused mane delays in my work. Hate it!
Keyboard cannot be removed once opened, landscape mode is useless, very slow at times and does work with pdf pics. Also the way the local folder are managed sucks. Great idea but needs some serious work.
If you need to work in you paper every time you have time to... This is awsome
Getting more stable and the options are getting more powerful. Developer works hard on this app and is in good contact regarding issues and bugs. Still a little confusing regarding the process of syncing with e.g. Dropbox, and some documentation would go a long way in that department. Other than that, the best in the Market.
This is a fantastic LaTeX editor and by far the best one available for Android. The only problem I have encountered thus far is that it lacks an undo button. I would give this app 5 starts if it had one.
The Dropbox integration is nice, but it happened to me that the old version of the tex file on my phone overwrote the new version of the tex file on my computer. That didn't cause damage since Dropbox allowed me to restore the file. Still, it scared me.
It's pretty good at what it does, and I'm referring to the paid version. However it does appear to have some missing packages, and I don't seem to be able to open any file I wish. Of course, it could just be me! (It was me, I have no problem opening any *.tex file that I want. User error!) I like the app.
Pretty good for note-taking. Needs auto-save feature to make sure you don't lose work after typing for long periods of time. Edit: Boosted to 5 stars because Dev replied and pointed me in the right direction! Thank you!
The editor is fine for my uses (generally editing and simple document creation on a tablet), with clear demarcation of comments and math objects onscreen. Compliation does require an internet connection, which may be an issue for some. My primary problem is that for reasons I have not figured out yet, sometimes the input lags behind my keystrokes, which makes use difficult and frustrating. Even in spite of that, VerbTeX Pro does have the best functionality of any LaTeX app I have tried so far.
The main feature (remotely compiling LaTeX) works almost fine (except generating glossaries), but others are poorly designed or even a no-go. Dropbox integration requires full access to a *whole* account, while Dropbox API provides a possibility to request privileges just for a single "app" directory. The editor is quite poor, especially when working with many files (that's why I bought Pro). I wish I could use external editor (like Jota) and VerbTeX displayed only the file tree.
I needed to write while offline-of course that doesn't work with verbtex. I'm liking TeXPortal (the paid one) because offline mode, and because the write-compile time is blistering compared to remote compilation. This still has the better editor though, and its cheap. (I don't have the editor that the texportal people sell... Its pricey..!)
Slow.
bluetooth keyboard is must.
When I am editing a very short (1 page) file, the typing is fine, but it is unusable when I want to edit my papers (~30 pages). (I am using a brand new Samsung note pro 12.2.) This makes the app pretty much useless for me. Also, I would like to be able to select multiple files from within one folder, rather than having the editor load the first one it sees then flip through all of them.

Is there really no way to have offline compiler? For short report verbtex is fine but for long article it is a nuisance. I have project 250Mb and each time compiling requires uploading, normally it stucks. Still hoping for local compiling since I travel a lot with my tablet. 4g connection is not ideal and wifi is not everywhere. I won't hesitate sacrifying 5gb for package download.
