About Jaime I in La Vall d’Albaida

Jaime I, king of Aragon in the 13th century, left his mark on a county like the Albaida Valley, where he founded villages with Christians (Bocairent, Ontinyent, Albaida, Montaverner, La Pobla del Duc and Llutxent) that we will visit on foot (and also on a horse, bike or car) along a way that crosses the centre of the county: from the feet of the Mariola mountain up to the barony of Llutxent (the route Jaime I as such), and from La Pobla up to Benicadell Mountain (the Morisco pathway: through Castelló, Rugat and Aielo de Rugat, which remained settled by Moors).

The landscape and cultural itinerary (49+11 km) has been designed to cover it in several stages, where the discovery of a rural environment with pleasant spots is combined: with easy-walk ways, perfect for a quiet and family tourism; with cities, villages and towns with palaces, churches, castles, local paths, museums of all sorts, hotels, rural accommodation, restaurants, etc. The wide range of possibilities allows you to enjoy a welcoming land which is magnificent and proud of its natural and cultural heritage, and also its historical identity.
