What are users saying about Packet Sniffer

T70%
by T####:

it just does not really work. claims it tcp dumped to ./data but that was just a toast. it seems to me it is garbage. for one, if I make a text file, ie a log file, I would simple creat a text box to put the result in. if not then I am a non standard app and would in fact provide some instruction. instruction is not provided by clearly lazy programmers. fact is I find instruction writing to be like flowcharting, it helps.

T70%
by T####:

Crappy instructions on setup. video demo has options not available in the app, might be good if it installed properly. If u want it app to be used by very few people this is how to do it.

U70%
by U####:

Crashes every time I start a capture. Too bad, I'll keep looking for something

T70%
by T####:

I just installed this. It instantly crashes. I tried to capture packets and it doesn't work it crashes. Use whatsapp. I'm on installing it now.

T70%
by T####:

I installed this and every time I start a scan it says it's not responding and closes. I tried reinstalling and same thing

C70%
by C####:

Repeatingly crashes on wifi sniffer. Uninstall.

A70%
by A####:

Motorola droid bionic. Runs a few seconds then unexpected error and must force close.

T70%
by T####:

The layout is really really bad. The backgrounds are terrible, you should remove them.

R70%
by R####:

Downloaded and placed that file in proper place but starting wifi snipper shows nothing .....

L70%
by L####:

bluetooth doesn't work

C70%
by C####:

Everytime I launch the application it quits. More qs is needed before releasing.

C70%
by C####:

Works on my SGS3. Follow the instructions if you want it to work. Hint : rename 'tcpdump.bin' to 'tcpdump' & change the file permissions, and it will start picking up packets. Mine didn't log any packets till I renamed the file to remove the extension.

C70%
by C####:

Works for me. However, it will only store it's dump in a sql database on the internal memory. It also has a hideous UI.

C70%
by C####:

On my rooted htc desire and asus tf101 (both with ics) the wifi sniffer works but the bluetooth sniffer for comms on a range of nearby devices is ignored. If I turn wifi off the app prompts me to turn it on, but not when bluetooth is turned off.

C70%
by C####:

It works perfect if you just follow the directions. download the tcpdump.bin file, put it in your data folder, rename it just tcpdump and chmod 777 it

C70%
by C####:

Works great on Moto Droid 2.2. NOTE: Application WILL FORCE CLOSE unless phone is rooted and the instructions from the Dev's site are followed.

C70%
by C####:

This app works perfectly. If you can't understand the devs instructions you shouldn't be sniffing packets anyway.

T70%
by T####:

OK so I did not correctly read the description. It says in all CAPS "FOR ROOT USERS ONLY. IN ORDER TO ACTIVATE........" So I read that to mean, Root users had to follow the extra directions. Since it did not work I ended up on the developers site where the wording, "This APP is for ROOTED PHONES ONLY." Made it clear. I would suggest updating the Play Store description to the wording used on the developer site. I really am not a dummy, perhaps I was being overly optimistic that this app would work on my SGIII without root. So I read it the way I wanted it to be. I am guessing that many of the 1 star ratings are from folks that also did not understant this. Perhaps some may not know what a rooted phone is. In any event I will look for an alternative. Three stars because I don't know if it is good and because I can't read.

C70%
by C####:

Very promising, doesn't crash on my incredible, but never logs any packets.

C70%
by C####:

Works on incredible, must change how it saves, ui is horrible and even after I finley got it working it didn't show alot of information.

H70%
by H####:

The developer site is unclear on the instructions and that's why so many people fail. Also, the developer does not make an effort to give clear, concise instructions. They say install in /data library. Where? On the sd card or root? My phone does not have that configuration. They say install the precompiled binary and refer to it as tcpdump in the developers website but then tcpdump.bin elsewhere. Please write CLEAR instructions for dummies, otherwise people will trash your work and all the hard work.

A quality tool. Too many kiddies downloading stuff they shouldn't, hence the unwarranted low ratings. Thanks.

T70%
by T####:

Tried it on all 3 of my android devices and it didn't run on any of them.

F70%
by F####:

Not working. No force close issue. WiFi sniffer says running, shows nothing. Bluetooth won't start. Pretty sure I followed instructions correctly. Upset it's not working but will hold on to the app for future updates in the hope the bugs between different devices are worked out. And you really do need to loose the horrid back grounds. This is a technical app.

C70%
by C####:

Wow, it works very well. It is surprising to see what apps are moving data when you don't expect it to.

C70%
by C####:

Force closes all the time. Motorola photon

C70%
by C####:

No packets at all even though I tried the exact same procedure as in the video.

C70%
by C####:

No fc here but plain didn't work. Try Shark. It does the job nicely.

S70%
by S####:

Does not work, epic 4g dk28

C70%
by C####:

Most of the people who give low ratings are complete idiots, who obviously do not know how to read instructions, and most likely wouldn't know what to do with this app if they could get it to work. I personally think this app is very useful, except the ugly user interface, regardless I will keep this in my toolbox。

C70%
by C####:

Blue tooth does not work.

C70%
by C####:

Works great for me please keep working on it. Moto droid

C70%
by C####:

The app does not capture the packets. i have removed the security from the router. I am also not able to find the path for tcpdump.bin to rename it.

C70%
by C####:

root g1 2.1 approp chmods set - no packets captured...

R70%

It crashes every time, not very intuitive.

C70%

Application always crashes in asus transformer tablet tf300t

C70%
by C####:

Force closed. Doesn't work. Motorola Droid.

C70%

FC's on my Incredible whenever I try to run it.

A70%

Very poorly designed GUI and it did not seem to work right off the bat. Did not waste time on it due to annoying GUI

Doesn't work on Cyanogenmod 10.1
