doesn't work.. no refund.. do not buy this

R70%
by R####:

Save time, don't buy this. Considering there is no free trial, I expected that an app paid upfront, although for a simbolic price, would at least work. So far I have't been able to make it connect to my Plex Server, (home wifi). Promised to be good solution for Android/Plex users, it still does not work. after I've been dealing with it for many hours now to no avail. Either I haven't found the proper support channels or their support is really minimum. Per what I have seen, it is for experts so if you are not one, don't bother. Too bad. (Trying to connect Google Nexus 2013 Tablet, Android 5.1.1 to current version of Plex on Windows 7 )

works on my nexus player no more paying for plex pass

Windows 8.1 Pro, PLEX media server 0.9.11.16, and Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4. Initially couldn't find my PLEX media server. Simple fix was manually entering server IP address in App settings menu as "preferred server". My folders then appeared on restart; HOWEVER, app crashes every time I select a folder to play a video. Have uninstalled/reinstalled and rebooted tablet and computer several times to no avail. Shame, really wanted to like this app.

Is a minimum plea version required?

T70%
by T####:

DOES NOT WORK AFTER RECENT UPDATE. Since the last update I cannot get past the first screen where I select either "Movies" or "Series" from my server because the app keeps on crashing at that point. I do report it everytime. Please check this.

This app works great on the Nexus Player (I bought it, downloaded it, and side-loaded it - works great!) There are only a couple of tweaks which need changing and this would be the go-to app for Plex Content on the Nexus Player (as the Plex app requires a pass).

N70%
by N####:

App wasn't working for me initially but now works fine and sees my plex server. It was a sharing issue within Windows on the server that I missed. Thank you for this great app

J70%

Auto detection does not work and neither does manually typing in the server address. How can I give this anything other than 1 star? Annoying as it said it was compatible with my device.

T70%
by T####:

I am very happy with the app and the developer behind it. I had issues getting it to work so I emailed the dev. and got all of the answers I needed. Keep up the good work! 5 stars for automatic 3D switching.

Doesnt see my plex server it's grey'd out. Tried typing in address and still no luck . Every other device in my house see's my plex server except this one. Waste of $ too bad looked promising but is broken

S70%
by S####:

Installed on N7 2013, and the categories text ("Movies", etc.) would not properly appear - they all show as "...". They were still able to be pressed, and I could tell what they were based on the changing background image, but no amount of fiddling with settings would make them properly appear. Other than that, it works well - automatically detected my Plex server, and allows me to use MX Player (Pro) to play videos, bypassing the issue that the official Plex client has with 4.4.3+.

This is great app... BUT why do I have to see ads when I pause a video and this on an app that I PAID for!

C70%
by C####:

It plays DTS sound on my LG GA7900! Plex doesn't. But i can't play some mkv files can't find yet any anything why is that.

R70%
by R####:

The plex app stopped playing files with DTS audio but this app still works. The only problem with this app is the UX (user experience). The app needs to be faster, default to "On Deck", better utilize fan art, and the UI needs lots of little tweaks to look better. However, it is opensource so I'll try to lend a hand. Thanks king! Thanks for the reply, bump up rating.

I got this app in hopes it would allow me to go through my tutorials and series videos with continuous playback, and maybe it will, but I haven't been able to get that far. As I have a large tutorial library, the easiest way for me to navigate plex has been to 'view by folder', but I can't find any way to do this using Serenity. When I got this app I didn't expect it to actually remove some of my functionality, essential functionality in this instance. Hopefully, someone will be able to show me that I'm simply not using it correctly - and viewing by folder is actually possible. However, until that happens, I can't find my files... Yes I could search, but many file names are only numbers, in a named folder...

Fantastic app and layout. I continuously alternate between this and the official plex app on my Asus CUBE. Great job guys.

***updating my review*** After using the app for awhile, i'm running into issues with playback. Some files i get just a back screen and nothing will play, forcing me to switch over to the roku to watch it. Not sure where the problem is, but there STILL is no good solution, that i've found, to get video from my server onto my GoogleTV. Changed to 3 stars, its good when it works ***end of update** This app rocks on the GoogleTV. the Plex app for GTV is horrid, and this is a fine replacement. I gave it four stars because it didn't do automatic discovery of my Plex server, but it was just a matter of putting in my servers ip address. For the future Id like some more options. Themes, smooth scrolling etc. Great app, definitely glad i came across it

V70%
by V####:

It looks good, however the UI could use a bit of polish, such as smooth scrolling. Also, the option to browse movies in a grid is nice for quickly scanning a large library, but I'd still like to see details of an individual show before it starts playing. Thanks for making an alternative. I'm looking forward to future updates!

T70%
by T####:

Sees and accesses my plex server with no problems. And it lets me view my movies in MX player which is far less likley to crash than the official plex player.

R70%
by R####:

While not as visually polished as the official Plex app, Serenity has the advantage of actually working. The official app won't play a handful of my files, no matter what combination of settings I set. Serenity handles them all perfectly.

Once the developer implements Photo and Audio support it'll be a five star! :)

R70%

Looks like it's going to be a great interface after some more development. Some things are a little bit buggy (like folder section names on the main screen get cut off) but after looking at forums it seems the developer is taking this apps progress seriously and addresses issues and request fairly promptly. I have high hopes for it.

If you're familiar with Plex, you already know that most of the clients provide a bland, utilitarian experience, and while they may do the job, (and pretty well at that), it's an experience that's fine on your desktop PC, but not for your living room. Serenity for Google TV sets out to change all that, with easy to navigate menus, optimized for large format screens. As seen in the screenshot above, Content info is provided, such as episode, synopsis, genre, etc. Note: Keep in mind, the app is currently in beta, and as such, is a work in progress. it may not provide all the functionality of other plex head ends, but changes and improvements are being made on a continual basis, and the developer has been very receptive to input/feedback.
