AvNav EFB for Android
AvNav EFB is an advanced Electronic flight bag (EFB) for pilots who enjoy local and cross country flying through variety of terrain and weather (sometimes in IFR condition). If you are a VFR flyer you will find our simple "Direct To"" navigation combined with easy to use tab-driven interface and always-on rubber-banding simple enough to get you started.
If you fly long distance facing terrain or weather, we have many advanced features such as Victor Airways support and support for Winds aloft in flight planning. Program can show terrain above you in red and you can insert DP/STARs and Instrument Approaches into your flight plan with easy menus.
Can't use nexrad in mi phone
Great app for the price
Good value.
There have been no feature updates in a long time. I fear the developer has abandoned his app. I've been a paid subscriber for about two years and am starting to look at other apps that are continually improving the design and adding useful features.
Disappointed. This app could be great. Mine started closing itself at random with no user input. I've emailed and sent the error reports, with no response. This App is almost worthless as an efb right now. Maybe next update will be better.
Updated 3/22/17 - Pros: This app has a very user-friendly and intuitive interface. The on-the-fly rubber banding is great, the flight planning features are as good as or better than other Android apps and the ability to load approaches/SIDs/STARs sets this one above the rest. I have noticed that the frequency of crashes has improved greatly in the past few months; only once in a while, and the rapid start-up helps. Price is reasonable and includes geo-referenced plates! Cons: ads-b targets are too big and block information if in a crowded area; also, i haven't found a way to show the relative altitude to ads-b traffic, that would be good to know information. Email support response is slow to non-existent. For non-supported requests/questions, a simple "not supported at this time" would be good.
Email tech support just plain sucks. Can you imagine stuck somewhere depending on this app and you have to wait an unknown period ??????? For support. F$%k that.
No gulf coast helicopter charts.
This app is great in that it offers many features and works very well ... until it doesn't. Only downside to this app is that it force-closes very often. Thankfully the app opens quickly so these force-closures are nothing more than a minor inconvenience and are NOT debilitating. Still, I cannot justify a 5-star rating until the force-closure consistency reduces. Once it does - 5 stars.
I trust AvNav. Please keep up the excellent work. Two thumbs ☝
I've had this app for some time now. While it has improved over time its got a lot of lingering issues that have no solutions. Therefore I am de-rating it. I built a Stratux ADS-B receiver some time ago. All the issues I have seem to be related to this application. Crashing at times, and the display of traffic is iffy at best. I know its not the Stratux because I can see tons of traffic around the Chicago area that is not displayed in the App. When traffic is painted the airplane icons clutters up the screen. I've asked for them to change to the familiar pushpin style used on G1000, Foreflight, etc. but no response. It tends to crash a lot and/or lock up in flight. I'm not sure why except perhaps the Nexus 7 I use is a bit shy on horsepower these days. I've been working on approaches lately and will soon want the geo-referenced plates to work. The issues w/Stratux operations leave me to wonder if it will work or for how long. I recently loaded Avare and discovered traffic updating position constantly. Avnav does not.
Super app
It is very annoying that the app always opens to the file brief tab, it should open to the map. Also, when opening the map, it opens very zoomed out and far away from my location and downloaded charts. Suggestions: add the ability to add my own I documents (checklists, FAA handbooks, etc). And maybe add a downloadable list of FAA publications (PHAK, AFH etc). Add the ability to draw on approach plates, sectionals, etc. Ability to save notepad doodles/notes.
This app could be the best if it wouldn't force close so much. Also it needs to not reload maps after viewing plates or leaving the screen briefly
Works for my sUAS needs
Haven't flown for 20 years, just got back flying again. This app made a huge difference to get started again. Great program!
Requires fb or google login wont let you register even though the option is there. Major fail! Crazy egistration email turns up wanting me to confirm registration, now it fails to load the required database. Guess I need to find another efb app
Paid for prescription but the app never would open after I paid. Update: after an update this morning, I was able to open the app again. So far so good. I really think I will like this app alot.
Look forward to your improvements and add-on s.
Too many crashes for my liking. When I'm using it for an hour flight, it will crash 3 or 4 times. I can usually relaunch the app with no issues, but there have been a few times when it has required me to restart my tablet. If the stability issues are fixed, this would be a 5 star app. Edit: I've tried contacting AvNav EFB per the below comment, but their website's Contact Us page gives an error: Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method. I've tried to find another contact method without success. This seems too hard to submit support issues.
I trust AvNav. Please keep up the excellent work. Two thumbs ☝
Helps when you need additional info
Half of the functions are intermittent, such as the aircraft icon, the speeds, track, ETA...ect.
Finally a dependable app for pilot android users. I give this a five star rating.
Easy to adapt too. Well planned out.
I gave this two stars (instead of one) because I really like the features of the app. Unfortunately, the ADS-B data from my Radenna Skyradar DX does not display completely. I can get METARS but the app does not display traffic or Nexrad radar. I know my setup is good because I get all the ADS-B data when using Avare (a free android aviation app). Multiple emails to Avnav support have basically been ignored.
This is great application
Worked fine on my old Nexus 10, but crashes on startup on my new Pixel C due to the fact that device doesn't have internal GPS. As I'm using an external XPGS170, this should be no problem, but as AvNav requests GPS without checking if the device has GPS support it crashes. I reported the bug, got confirmation and a promise for new build within a week. Now a month and 3 "ping" emails later, no further updates on when/if a working build can be expected. as such I'm switching to Garmin Pilot which does work on the Pixel C.
My friend recommended Foreflight, but my tablet runs on android. Searched around and ran across this app. I'm on the trial run test, so far so good. Its easy to use and seems to be what I need. If it continues to performs good, I'd recommend it to anyone on a android platform tablets.
Awesome when it works. But sucks data so fast I get calls from Verizon asking what's going on. Can it save tracks?
Aircraft Mapping and planning app.
The app is great and a good competition to foreflight. Doesn't crash and doesn't lag, I can use my galaxy note 3 as efb and it's great. Although resolution/image quality on sectional when zoomed out past 30 miles is poor.
Money worth well spent. Runs smoothly and has tons of features both for vfr and ifr operations. This is my Android go to EFB. Wonderful Job!
I had foreflight for several years. This app is a real up and coming solution for Android. It's about time! Every release gets better and better. Excellent!
Works great on Android phone and tablet. I use Motorola and Samsung. It tracks my airplane on airport diagram as I taxi out. All charts can be used offline. Most recent update leaves app running quickly without problem.
Great app. Straightforward. Accurate.
As good as Garmin for significantly less money. Love the seamless sectional and low IFR charts.

I am a cfi and this is the best simple easy to use reliable efb out there. Bar none.

Works as described and equals or exceeds Garmin Pilot. Cheaper than GP.
