About NICE BNFC
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has developed this free app as a useful offline reference for the British National Formulary for Children (BNFC).
The NICE BNFC app is currently only available to NHS staff in England, Scotland and Wales.
Aimed at pharmacists, doctors, nurses, social care professionals and other healthcare professionals who prescribe and administer medicines, the app provides easy offline access to-up-to-date practical information on prescribing, dispensing and administrating medicines for children.
To use the NICE BNFC app for the first time and to activate any content updates, you will need to enter your NHS Athens user name and password.
Eligible users in England can register for an NHS Athens account by selecting the Journal and Database section on NHS Evidence.
Eligible users in Scotland can register for an NHS Athens account by visiting The Knowledge Network website and selecting the login option at the top of the homepage.
Eligible users in Wales register for an NHS Athens account by visiting the NHS Wales e-Library for health website and selecting the Athens option on the homepage.
Social care staff who meet the NHS Athens eligibility criteria can also download and access the content.

• Update notifications when new editions or updates are available

Great concept. Shame it doesn't work. Won't save to phone. Tis a pity that doctors can't use the same excuses as IT 3 attempts it finally downloaded. Have to admit it works perfectly including the searches. Update. For the last 9+ months since updated it has worked perfectly.

Worked perfectly before on my old Samsung s3. Will not even load on Samsung s5 mini. Was indispensable. Now uninstalled. Same for the normal BNF. pls fix!

New update makes app useless, seems to require sign in each time + even on WiFi just hangs while trying to sign in. So no good if you're not online and much slower than walking round the department looking for the paper copy.

This is the first time I've had any problem with any application. Can't even install properly, keeps saying connect to wifi, which its connected very well. And then stuck at 57%.

UPDATE (7-4-14) - Response from technical support - KitKat issue fix to be released soon. Thanks. 5 stars again when fixed. -------------------------------------------- Recently installed on HTC One (m7) with android 4.4.2. Search works fine on my old Samsung Galaxy S2 (android 4.1.2), but has blank results area initially on android 4.4.2. WORK AROUND:- Commence search; Tap near top of "empty" results area; Result opens up; Click "back button" to reveal all results. What a pain in the proverbial!
