Telegraph Newspaper Edition

In reviewing this app I think it's important to differentiate between the content of the newspaper, which is excellent and the app and the way it presents this content. The app is, as others say, buggy. Frequently hangs on "loading your content" on second or subsequent viewings of an edition. Or won't scroll down below what's on screen. Or just announces that "unfortunately DT has stopped". The number of downloads and reviews suggests to me that there perhaps aren't enough users to make tablet app edition development a priority compared to print and online. This is a real shame as, overall, this is 90% of the way to being the best and most convenient way to read a great newspaper.

From 26th October this app has used over 200MB of mobile data despite being downloaded over Wi-Fi and having background cellular data turned off (and no videos played within it) Beware. Prior to that I've found it fine. Update - had to install an app to prevent this app using mobile data, that has solved the above problem. However, the app now often refuses to allow me to scroll down any pages or they just don't appear. If I briefly re-allow mobile data the pages act "normally". Frustrating and I may be cancelling very soon unless things change.

Living in an area of v weak broadband means downloading takes a long time. It would be better to have the option of downloading specific dated editions rather than the default of the last weeks editions. nothing so stale.....etc

Annoying when doing crossword as the app regularly highlights the wrong word, even when it is the third letter of that word rather than the first of the answer you are trying to put in. Sometimes very slow at entering letters (or numbers on sudoki) leading to errors if not checked.

Generally good, can freeze, annoying that keeps randomly jumping pubads. More puzzles would be good, especially harder and/or killer sudoku.. Better if the days TV and radio listings were included too.

It works fine on Android but it is utterly dire on my iPad. I have to reload the app frequently, but it can take hours to download with loads of errors. It's about time something was done about it. I get the brush off every time I report it to the app developers

Become very slow on article downloads. Each page has a "give us feedback" message at the bottom of each page. Extremely annoying.

Can be slow on download. Living in western USA we can usually access it after 5 pm local time. However, Monday's paper always shows as Sunday Telegraph because that is the day it arrives!

Overall very good. I download it very early to view on the go. Far too many adverts though annoyingly at the bottom of each article. Lovely bright photographs. I'm pleased I subscribe.

Not as good as previous version. Slow and cumbersome Far far too many advertisements. Should improve with each new version but it just gets worse..

For 2 non consecutive days now I have not been able to read the paper as, although it has downloaded , I have not been able to open the paper. Frustrating to say the least!

Disappointed to discover that not all of the newspaper is in the subscription version but what killed it for me was too many adverts and very slow to load (including ads)

I often have to wait for several seconds before I can scroll down a story. And today it shows a banner asking me to rate the app on every story, which doesn't work when I click on it...

This app will be good but I think first is a login then you reed it Only 30days free then you given charges So i don't like this app Because i am only reed news paper and updates

Rubbish. One page and it wants my total devotion.

Have read the paper for years but app itself makes reading more and more difficult

Needs a search feature. Quite hard to find specific things.

The latest version is very stable which makes the paper an enjoyable read. Navigation is also superb. Great app.

Very pleased indeed with the Telegraph digital edition but I miss the full share price listing and the week's best TV films listing that are in the newspapers.

Recent update places ads at the point where you swipe to turn page thus opening ad, so annoying, other than that love this app

I like this app. But for me something important is missing. Articles do not have readers' comments sections as they do in the website version.

I love the DT paper, however the number of times this app stops while reading an edition, is so frustrating.

Suddenly I can no longer scroll down - again.

It is a little buggy but is generally usable. My priority would be to look, first, at the responsiveness of the crossword puzzle interface.

Navigation is beyond awful.

Content good, functionality one of the worst of any media app.

Great app with great journalism. Not so keen on the native advertising though.

Essential when abroad and cannot get the printed version

STILL won't run on ZenPad with Atom processor therefore totally useless to me.

I find it very good. Easy to use and I Iike the layout. I've had no problems with it.

Still a bit buggy but easy to navigate and browse articles

You need to put your device in aeroplane mode for it to work properly

Much improved since I moved from a Kindle to an Asus tablet.

Since latest update app is appalling. Opens at previous days editions, does not return to page I was reading, and once downloaded onto tablet, will stutter scrolling sideways and will frequently not scroll down and up again at all. But, connect to wifi again, it scrolls fine. Surely a paper such as the Telegraph can do better than this? Used to work perfectly. Why such a rubbish update? Infuriating.

Below is an earlier review. The App is behaving better now but still has some niggles e.g. not returning to last page read when restart reading the edition. Sometimes even opens a previous edition. I am now using the latest version of the App and itis still a bag of bugs. Still a very poorly written and maintained Android app. The team are just Apple geeks!
