About Power Outage Alarm Pro
Power Outage Alarm can notify you by SMS text message and by sounding an optional audible alarm when your electrical equipment suffers a power outage. If you have important equipment running and want to know if there has been a power cut while you're not around, this app can help. From Freezers to Fish Tanks and all things electrical, Power Outage Alarm can provide you with additional peace of mind.
Typical uses include:
* waking you in the event of a power cut;
* fridge monitoring & freezer monitoring;
* fish tank monitoring & aquarium monitoring;
* generator monitoring;
* sump pump monitoring;
* computer equipment monitoring;
* heating system monitoring;
* chemical storage monitoring;
* and many other applications.
Power Outage Alarm works happily in the background on your Android device and will keep monitoring even when your device is asleep and the screen is off.
Plug your chosen Android device into a socket on the same circuit as the electrical equipment you want to monitor. For example if you want to know if there is power loss to your fish tank then plug your Android device into a socket on the same circuit as the tank itself. This does mean that Power Outage Alarm requires a dedicated Android device to monitor your equipment. We use an old, cheap Android phone to monitor our refrigeration units at our family's restaurant and leave it running whilst nobody is there. Temporary use of SMS capable Android tablets could be a good alternative to having a dedicated phone.
Note that this app requires the capability to send SMS text messages using the standard mobile telephone network. It is not compatible with third party applications that send text messages over the internet.

Well a very basic tool. While it does the purpose but still needs a lot of improvement. At times it fails to send SMS, thats perfectly okay to me, but then it consistently generates error messages that it cant send the SMS, which clutters the Log. There is no way to take the log out in a Excel file to make an analysis. There is no way to edit the log to remove this clutter created by failure to send SMS message. There are no customization options available, like green color for power reconnect and red for a disconnect or any other choice. A lot of improvements need to be made to the app, again basic improvements, but they can improve the usability of the app to a great extent. Anyway, thanks for exploring such an idea of making an app for power outage at the first place.

Great app. Please add ability to send emails (as phone can have data connection or if using wifi the router may have a UPS). Also ability to send texts to more than one number and emails to multiple addresses. And ability to send text and email or just text or just email. This would make the app perfect and more economical to use. Well done developer.

In South Africa, where power outages are the norm, whether it be power cuts, or weather related, the fact remains we frequently have outages. This app is extremely important to notify you of the outage, as it will affect your freezer content in our HOT climate. This is where the app comes to its full right, so you can take action, to avoid food spoilage and other security related matters. I purchased the PRO version and I must say it WORKS 100%. I have put in a request to add more than one contact number............

Simple, no nonsense tool. Even better would be an option to send email via wifi so you can, like me, use an old phone no longer connected to the network as an audible alarm AND still have a remote warning. Wifi when there's an outage??? Well if you're installing this you may well have taken the precaution of also installing a UPS or be able to grab a public wifi hotspot. Hey presto, an alarm that doesn't need a SIM.

Recently I suffered a power outage at home during a vacation. Back at home I had to throw away all the fridge content. So I found this brilliant app. It send me an sms when a power outage occurs and another one if the power comes back. I can set delays (to avoid getting an sms if the power outage lasts only a few seconds). And I can get periodic sms to alert me to recharge my phone credit. This last feature was fixed and improved very quickly after contacting customer support so this app deserves 5 stars without doubts.

Went for this app just in case we had a power failure and we were away for a few days. I had a problem installing this product. Nothing to do with the app, down to my android mobile. Just hung trying to install. Turned out to be the same with other apps. So did a factory reset of my mobile & downloaded the app fine. This happened on a Saturday evening. I reported the fault to SJB and had a response within an hour! So app brilliant & support even better.

The recent update to have an audible alarm has turned an already good app into a great app. Now it can wake me up when I'm home as well as texting me when I'm away. This is a great use of my old android phone and well worth 99p. I even tested it when there was no phone signal and it sent a message when it got a signal back. App works perfectly. Power Outage Alarm woke me up during a storm and I was able to save a device that would have crashed and made me lose days of work within an hour of the power going out. Perfect design with great notification and self-messaging features. P.s. to the developer: thank you for the update to fix compatibility issues. Great work!
