Remote for VLC (Fork) for Android
App functions great with VLC player. However, please fix the app so that when I finish playing a movie or music, I can close it off and not have it run in the background. Everytime I make/receive a call, the notification comes back telling me about a WiFi error - cannot connect.. Please fix
Very easy to setup (3 changes to VLC preferences), use web interface, select port and password. On the app it's select IP address and input password. Works on VLC 3.0 in both Windows and Linux seamlessly., It's one of a dying breed, it just does what it's supposed to do day in and day out without any issues. A real pleasure to use. I have been using it since 2014. If you have trouble setting this up it's a fair indication that you should be banned from owning a smart phone or PC.
Super easy, have tried other ones but this is the best. I had been using a different one for a long time but it changed to having ads all the time and I had to find a new one! This one is wonderful!
You can easily control VLC from this app. You can even add files into the play list. Setup was done in less than 30 seconds (provided you already setup VLC in your Windows, Mac, Linux server).
But "the file cannot be found" bug is too annoying. Uninstalled quick.
Everything is okay, except the app always causing wakelocks, what is killing the battery. Can you fix that?
I tried almot all VLC remote controllers and this was the best for music listening. Only minus that it doesn't see Artist and Album in the playlist. I need to clear it and reproduce for each listening time.
After the most recent update, the library view for your current local machine is broken. You click on the libraries tab and it just sits there loading forever. I don't need to see my windows libraries because I don't use them, I want the ability to see mapped network drives again. Don't add something that's not necessary if it breaks something else that was, it's unusable now because I can't queue up files from my server anymore. Sad that this used to be amazing, now it's useless.
If I turn WiFi off I get the 'failed to connect' notification but I can't clear it by swiping or touching the close 'X'. It needs a swipe to dismiss notification. Other than that it's working well. - - Samsung Note 4, Android 5.1.1
The functionality is good but when I'm not connect to vlc it keeps giving me notifications. I don't want it to connect to vlc in the background and especially don't want to see errors because I am rarely connected to vlc. Also android wear support would be awesome.
Setup instructions could be easier to find in-app, but they are easy enough. Works well on win 10 64 bit. Folder navigation is kind of clunky.
But need a quit option. When activate a status bar control and the remote player is off, the app cause a system ui freeze.
The error about missing files not only, nly makes the app hard to use but it shows over other apps! Unusable like this.
Recently it started with annoying messages in the tray. "Unable to resolve host" even after I removed all host definitions. Also do not need that running in the background all the time.
Must be a great app for others but I am unable to setup cuz maybe the process is too difficult for me to follow.
This app is great! Haven't run into any issues at all. Thanks!!
This remote is a bit outdated, need some update.
What are the advantages of the paid version? Would love to see album art support within the interface.
The best vlc remote. A few more customizable buttons at the bottom would be awesome.
Setup is tricky, but it's amazing once you got it working.
the app refuses to connect to vlc
Works Great.. Very Smooth. Except for the notification controls which fail due to a java exception.
Connection setup a bit tedious, play indicator in playlist is showing on wrong item, but these are not annoying. Could you please have an option to limit volume at 100%? It would be great!
Well worth the $2 I paid for it. Handy to be able to queue up files while laying in bed. Would be nice if it had audio device control to switch between soundcard and Bluetooth audio output in the remote. I frequently connect my stereo audio phone dock to the computer so it plays VLCs audio from the bedside table. Bit of a hindrance to get up and switch audio output in VLC back to my 5.1 Logitechs on the computer when I'm done with it. Other than that though it's amazing.
Says No files were found as you don't have permission and only buttons work the status of currently playing file, items in playlist are not shown.... The volume control does not show volume percentage... BTW nice job integrating phones hardware volume button to control computer audio ..
Awesome remote, works perfectly! :) Would be nice if it had the possibility of adding the "Slower" and "Faster" playback buttons to the interface, as well as deleting saved servers from the VLC servers list. Then it would be 5* for me. Otherwise, great job!
After 30 minutes of trying to connect decided to stick with iPad
This is an awesome app works like a charm and beats some paid for versions I was dumb enough to pay for.
Even getting my most knowledgeable tech nerd friend, setting up on windows 10 was impossible.
Better, light work very well.. and without adv
Still love the original though
This should fade away after a few seconds, not obscure the bottom of the screen even when not using it! Plz fix this for a better rating :-)
Need a widget very very badly. It would make this the ultimate remote for vlc. Controlling vlc from home screen would be awesome.
Once you get it set up, it's perfect. But if you get one of a few error messages, they'll linger at the bottom of your screen for up to 5 minutes. I.E. "You don't have access to this file."
Works great. One annoying bug though; the widget always shows "Unexpected status line" which makes the widget unusable..
One of the things I like best about this is how it pauses vlc when a phone call comes in. I would like to make a suggestion... instead of just pausing then playing.. when a call comes in, reduce the volume over time to a set level, perhaps down to 10% over 1 sec.. then pause, when the call ends, resume play, the gradually increase the volume back to where it was, at a slower rate, perhaps 4 seconds.. make the rates and minimum volume configurable. Also rewind audio 6s and video 30s immediately after pause
Additions are great. Please add the ability to add a folder to a play list which will automatically add all files in that folder to the play list. Also a multi file select then add to play list would make this PERFECT
I prefer Remoti.co Lite now - so much better
I have tried several of these for VLC and this is by far the best working, most useful and easiest to set up. Great job and thank you.

When I'm away from home with WiFi turned off I get the 'failed to connect' notification but I can't clear it by swiping or touching the close 'X'. It needs a swipe to dismiss notification or option to ignore connection errors when WiFi is turned off. - - Samsung Note 4, Android 5.1.1
