About Patient Access

PLEASE NOTE: YOU NEED TO HAVE AN EXISTING PATIENT ACCESS ACCOUNT TO USE THIS APP.

Patient Access is a service that lets you access your local GP services through your mobile.

Make life easier by getting access to your own 24-hour "receptionist"! No more waiting on the phone in queues, just use Patient Access to book/cancel your appointments, order repeat prescriptions, and message your practice.

You must have registered at a participating EMIS practice to use Patient Access. Around 1 in 4 GPs in the UK currently offer the Patient Access service.

With Patient Access, you can access your local GP services from home, work or on the move wherever you can connect to the internet. Because Patient Access is a 24 hour online service you can do this in your own time, day or night.

Make appointment bookings online or via the app - with calendar reminders and one touch cancellations, it couldn't be easier.

If your practice has turned these options on, With Patient Access, you will be able to:

• Book new appointments without having to phone.
• Cancel appointments you can't attend any more.
• View all appointments you have coming up.
• Order repeat prescriptions so they are ready to pick up.
• Change your address and contact details in seconds.
• Send a secure message to your practice.

Your local GP may not offer every Patient Access feature. Ask at your practice to find out which are available to you.

Just want to inform you of a bug with the Android app. When I try to add my appointment to my Google calendar, I click the button to export my appointment details, Google calendar opens then a message pops up saying event not found. The appointment is not added to the calendar. Hopefully you can apply a fix on the next update. I'm using a Sony Xperia XA Ultra on Android 6.0 In all other ways your app is great and a great time saver, thank you.

Usual government mediocre quality app without support and never updated to fix bugs. Add to Google calendar app doesn't work; the link to add via the browser does though. Generally better than the alternative (going to the surgery), but could do so many other things.

T70%
by T####:

A web page, not an app. Has the same bugs (and more) than the website itself when navigated through a browser. Big ones such as "page not found" when searching for local surgeries when trying to register after it asks you for your postcode. Yeah, this and the website, completely broken. Utter joke. Fire the moron who designed the entire thing.

The app has some imposed snags such as having to register your password with your surgery. I imagine that this is because access to your app maybe required in special circumstances. I suggest using KeePass2 password manager. The usefulness of the app can be limited by your surgery's procedures. Requests and notes concerning electronic prescriptions are not necessarily read by the staff. So to change the destination of a prescription make sure you know your surgery's procedure. The app itself is good although I did cancel an appointment once instead of cancelling the screen!

When I first signed up to this service it was great with loads of potential, as time moved on it improved & became a valuable tool saving me hours on the phone. Then one day things became less functional as medical records (seemed to get removed bit by bit), then problems reordering medication some requests worked & others not, finally the reordering of medication was turned off by surgery. Now not worth the memory space it takes up as the only function left is booking appointments which are very limited.

I don't see the point of this app. I prefer to use the website as the browser remembers my password, which makes things quicker. Now if the app would notify me that my repeat prescription is ready for collection, I'd switch to using it.

Since trying to redirect to the new site this app no longer works. Suggests I need internet connection which I definitely have! Very frustrating! Can anyone help with this?

T70%

I use this all the time. Never had a problem with it apart from the appointment not being added to my calender. everyone else having same problem so hopefully that will be sorted at some point. Booking appointments is sometimes difficult because my surgery does not post them up. So that's not the apps fault. Ordering repeat prescripts is a doddle and it goes directly to the chemist from the surgery saving time for me. Hopefully the calender problem will be sorted soon.

Unlike others I've had no problems with the app other than the calendar issue. Add to calendar has never worked. It seems that some of the problems people have had might be downtown how the surgery is managing it and not the app itself. Even without the calendar tool it's an invaluable app, because making a hone call and sitting in the phone with the surgery was always inconvenient for me, this way i can see quickly and out of hours when i can see my doctor.

by Q####:

When life is painful enough, this is a great app that had been adopted by my surgery. Instead of 2 trips to the surgery for my repeat medication, I now only need to do 1. Saves so much effort and pain. I have 2 issues though with this app: no push notifications to notify you of status updates and no status update to tell you when it's ready for collection. It would be perfect if my phone could ping when my medication is ready for collection.

T70%
by T####:

Great app for making appointments with the doctor of your choice at the practice of your choice. They desperately need to fix that calender bug that has previously been reported otherwise you have to remember all the details to put on your calendar yourself, which is a bit naff.

If only it held the last 4 repeat prescriptions. Such a pain when you have things not on the list. i have 4 things that repeat the app only allows 2

Absolutely rubbish, been using for a couple of years, now all of a sudden I can't log in, my password is incorrect even though it is not, and my maternal grandmothers maiden name is incorrect, really?? think I know that one for sure! what a joke, I can't get out, and now have to attend my surgery to request prescriptions!! what's the point??

T70%
by T####:

What an absolute shambles of an app. Can't sign in /runtime error. Invalid post code msg.. I could go on

T70%
by T####:

This app is a good start for the modern day 21st century let's hope that all the problems with the app improves more efficiently. But for now am satisfied, no more running around to the Doctors Surgery and making phone calls, and waiting in queues, so much better. Well done for today's modern Technology.

Would like a fuller patient history. And also sometimes appointments do not sync with calendar other than that superb effort

Been working fine up until now, now all of a sudden, it's not working, so i can't even organise my repeat prescriptions now. This is totally RIDICULOUS!!! Patients depend on this app to order prescriptions and make GP appointments! Devs, if you don't have a chronic illness or illnesses, you just won't understand how important this app is. Can't you people just fix the app???? I have just read that this app hasn't been updated for two years!!!! All of a sudden this app is now claiming that it may not be compatible with my device. It's strange that, as i have the same device and it's been compatible on this same device for years now, so that's ABSOLUTE RUBBISH!!!!

T70%
by T####:

Rubbish - installed 6 months ago and never been able to access it. App help desk tell me it needs to be re-set by the Doctors Practice which they have now done 5 times - but still not working. App help desk advice is to try again!! Not wasting anymore time with this so installed the Evergreen Life app instead and this worked first time with no issues. Do not waste your time with this - install Evergreen Life instead.

The app is a great way to manage your appointments and works reliably. What is very inconvenient for me though is that I can't add my children under my account

T70%
by T####:

The app seems to be basically presenting the website in a webview and it is a tad clunky. On a phone (not a tablet) you get the mobile view which shows your entire repeat prescription history. That means a lot of scrolling. Repeat requests don't pick up the default pharmacy from EMIS even though the surgery has had one for years. Exporting appointments to Google Calendar when the app is installed fails every time ('Event not found'). That seems to be a known long term bug in Android and/or Google Calendar. Notifications on change of repeat prescription status and the details of appointments would be useful but presumably would need a 'proper' app or EMIS would need to do it directly (emails would be fine). It would be great if vitals could be pulled from third parties such as Withings and made available to GPs.

Create one more things that if someone can able to request a sick note medical evidence so I don't have to go to the surgery for request one and wait for 48 hours test get it and fingerprint senser login system as well please? Can't transfer the app into SD? Also fingerprint senser login system please also faster way to use it?

This app is often down if it manages to open at all. My surgery tells me the appointments are released at 8.00pm but they don't show up till well after that (sometimes the next day). This is such a good idea and is so poorly executed.....VERY FRUSTRATING!

Z70%
by Z####:

I'm not going to use the app much (I hope) as I don't attend the Surgery that often and on first attempt after registering, I have forgotten the password which cannot be reset on-line in Scotland. I use certain passwords depending on the app criteria, i.e. Alpha-Numeric with special character or at least 8 digits, etc.. If the app just gave a hint of what the criteria is, I could probably use the correct password but instead, I'm locked out!

Used to be 5★, I could order my prescription online but something has happened recently and now my last prescription request is at the bottom of a list nearly a year long. Also I now can't find my latest prescription once submitted, to see if it's been accepted or there's an issue that needs me to contact the surgery. This confusing state means me re-submitting the script which could lead to a mix up and both getting cancelled. Please fix this ASAP

I've just completed my practice registration on my mobile so I thought I may as well see if there was an app...yes, it didn't remember my password but otherwise seems to work fine and showed me various appointments available this week should I have needed to book one. It's got to be easier than logging in on my laptop or even worse trying to get through to the surgery by phone at 8am!!

T70%
by T####:

Great and convenient app. One request though. The repeat prescriptions are now listed in chronological order, meaning I thought a request hadn't registered until I realised it was at the bottom of the list instead of the top as it was previously.

T70%
by T####:

This must be the worst app available. Patients with double-barrel names unable to register - except by visiting the practice to get a form (which they won't email to you!), yet my desktop version works (I dare not delete that link!), when opting for forgotten password it doesn't recognise my details, yet everything is correct! Try attending you practice to sort this out - they are just too busy with patients (who might well have benefitted from being able to use the app!).

Don't understand why I can't make an app till 20th June though.. is there a problem???

U70%

All my nurse appointments used to show on the app upto about 3 months ago. I have at least 15 appointments booked and there not on here. Not helpful at all.

U70%

Easy to use and love it i loved the fact i could view my medical history now i cant but its great if the gp lines are busy u can log on and book appointment

Pasting password works but now v. slow & exporting appointment to Google calendar fails on nexus 5 marshmallow: "event not found". Get same error in Chrome.

S70%

Worked once then got locked out of account. Resetting password keeps giving error message. Help pages says to go to my local practice to sort it out. They didn't know what to do and told me to look on the website. Going in circles and no one knows how to use the system.

U70%
by U####:

Tells me I'm already registered and to select "forgot password" when I select "forgot password" it tells me my email address is not recorded. Told my surgery about this who said it should now be fixed - same issue.

I70%

It does not let me put in all the digits of my user ID, I'm one digit short of logging in.

Change the password and am able sign in. Log off and then try to sign in again and won't let me. Need to change password again

Seems to work fine. Have to remember we are not living in the matrix! Great for making appointments 2 weeks in advance!! Great for checking appoint dates etc Not so good if you're actually unwell and need advice/attention. Then you revert back to analogue world

U70%
by U####:

Won't remember password. Can't reset as I need to go in to surgery and add security questions.. ... what's the point in an app off I have to go in anyway! I answered mutiple security questions and then I'm told to go in..... POINTLESS!!! Update: won't even work with the right password! Can log in online but not app... pointless lol

Q70%
by Q####:

This app used to be good but since the update it has stopped working I can't even sign in. My doctor even printed out another registered letter for me so I completed it and it said I was registered but when I tried to sign in again I wouldn't let me. Please fix as this was a good app now it's just taking up space on my phone.

It's literally changed the way I connect with my GP in everyway besides obtaining an emergency or same day appointment (that option not available for good reason). I order multiple medications and book appointments when needed. I don't have to spend ages on the phone to my surgery anymore. Very happy!

U70%
by U####:

Can't even remember the password and I have to login every time even tho I selected "remember me" multiple times. Not a proper native app, looks like a webview wrapper.
