About Lightwaver for LightwaveRF™ (Discontinued)

This app was created when there the only official app was a poorly implemented webview.

The official app has been much improved since then and whilst it still doesn't offer the advanced features that Lightwaver does such as Tasker supportwidgetswear etc, there seems little point developing this app further.

I will leave this app published here for the time being. Some may still find it useful. I will possibly replace the app with a more modern looking one at some point. I do have a few ideas but for all intents and purposes, this one is now discontinued. (UPDATE: Have a look at this preview https://plus.google.com/communities/100438979845496320277)

Thanks for all your support

This is a 7 day trial version. You can upgrade within the app to unlock full functionality.

See Google Plus page at http://goo.gl/QWfRN for more information and for some handy hints and tips that have been posted on the G+ Community page.

I do not look at bug reports submitted by the Android system. They are useless. If you need help, please get in touch directly.

Lightwaver allows you to control your LightwaveRF Home Automation products.
http://www.lightwaverf.com

These are the same products as sold by B&Q but repackaged as Siemens
http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/electrical/room-control

You will need:
At least one socket, switch or dimmer.
The LightwaveRF WiFi link hardware.
To use the Android TV functions, you will need an Android TV device running at least Android 5 Lollipop.

The hardware needs to be set up correctly. I cannot help you with this but it is not difficult and full instructions come with the hardware. Once set up, it works in the exact same way as the dedicated remote controls. Simply treat the app as a remote control and pair your hardware devices with the software devices in the app.

Alternatively, if you exactly match the rooms & devices in the same order as in the LightwaveRF manager on the web, then there is no need to pair any device, it will work right away (assuming the official app already works)

This app does not use the LightwaveRF portal unless you are away from home. It communicates directly with your WiFilink so is much faster.

*Why would I use this instead of the official app*
- Multiple locations.
- SSID detection for routing commands.
- Built in Tasker plugin.
- Voice control.
- Android Wear support
- Android TV support
- NFC Task Launcher compatibility
- Homescreen and lock screen widgets
- Designed to be pure Android
- Fully customisable icons
- To support a home developer.
- Backup data to Google Drive
- Good developer support.

LightwaveRF have not released their heating API to 3rd party developers so there is no way to incorporate heating function. Please complain about that one to them not me. It is out of my hands.

I've a legacy control station (and I know all room and device numbers). Unfortunately it's just a gamble to get the assignments right. Worked on one phone; didn't work out on another phone. Currently daily use is still more inconvenient than the original cocu/kaku app.

D70%
by D####:

Ugly, flawed. Error code appears demanding I register my phone with LWRF hub. There's nowhere to do that in the app. Error code persists on-screen even when app closed. Really irritating. Huge ugly icons look like program from Windows 95. Haven't got to use app yet cos of error above. Will review if I ever get it to work

K70%
by K####:

Lightwaverf are idiots. Here is someone doing something positive and proactive to unlock the potential of lwrf hardware. Keep up the good work

K70%
by K####:

Can't set the app up. Had the app on an old phone and how all it does it loads the old data and won't update. Such a shame as this used to work amazingly with Tasker.

K70%
by K####:

For me it's better than the "official" one. Quick, easy to set up and yes it may look a bit dated in places but it does exactly what I want it to. Good job.

Didn't work, waste of money

Why does this app requires access to contacts? Beware!!!

it's quite a mess

Love this app for the auto voice pluggin

I purchased as only three options available switch dimmer and relay. How do I connect a 2 gang socket. The options are not there. Am I doing something wrong. Thanks for responding but all the items are missing that are in your screenshots. Have requested refund from Google as it does not allow my to request refund even though it's not been 2 hours

Can be difficult to pair if u have alot of lwrf priducts they seem to join together but not sure if problem with app or lwrf

K70%

Have always loved this app much better than the official app use the widgets on my s2 gear to open my garage door and gate in conjunction with wareable widgets only wish the voice command option would work on my s2 gear

Z70%
by Z####:

Awful.

X70%

I had problems with Android N. This has now been fixed with an update. Excellent support in terms of fix and response time. Why can't all developers by this good?

F70%
by F####:

This really brings my newly installed system up to-date with voice control. The adds on the free version are not a big issue and when paid for there are a thing of the past. Well worth the money!

D70%
by D####:

Have been using this app now for around two years, to remote control bedroom sockets on timers. This is easier to set up on this app than the standard LightwaverRF app. It is a good app and I am very pleased with it.

H70%
by H####:

Not keen on giving an app heavily geared to ads requiring access to my address book to operate at all. Uninstalling.

Z70%
by Z####:

Like it's integration with Tasker.

Z70%
by Z####:

Tried this app as an alternative, instilled for the first time today to find that 1. The app is not free as advertised and 2. The app will not run as the trial Expired March! I'll be happy to purchase and re-review if the 7 day trial is fixed and it's confirmed to be ad free.

Z70%
by Z####:

App it self is not very intuitive and I've hardly used it but widgets feature is v.good and worth buying just for this

F70%
by F####:

This app does not seem to do anything beyond what the official (free) app does - it just has more in the way of eye candy and gimmicks. In addition, most annoyingly it makes it difficult to log into one's account: one is supposed to tap on an icon labeled EDIT, on the top right - but, on phones, as opposed to phablets and tablets, that icon can be seen only when the phone is held in landscape position. This is very poor design. A GUI so poorly designed does not make me confident about other, more complex chores, that the app is supposed to tackle. I will definitely stay with the official app. Actually, the more I look into this app, the worse it is. After logging into my account, it just offers some generic settings, rather than my specific ones, as the official app can do. This app is eye candy and nothing else.

Z70%
by Z####:

Some nice advantages over LightwaveRF app. Some improvements needed. More later

F70%
by F####:

Short-sighted developers. Better too have limited functionality for trial version. At least it's made my decision which products to buy easier

Z70%
by Z####:

Nice layout but can't operate anything outside my Wi-Fi range and the energy monitor doesn't work (I have tested the monitor independently and it is ok).

Z70%
by Z####:

The energy monitor doesn't work any more.

Z70%
by Z####:

Much better interface than the official app. Great support from the developer.

Z70%
by Z####:

Can not get to work. I have a galaxy S4 and on start the app opens and just crashes. Is there a fix?

D70%
by D####:

Adds so much functionality from the widgets alone. Good insight into how people want to use this kit. I may upgrade this rating after I've tried the tasker integration. If you have LWRF kit you should get this!!

Z70%
by Z####:

Is it possible to turn on lights and devices using 'ok google' 'front room on' instead of having to press the mic on your apk. Will change to 5*and buy if you can help.

B70%
by B####:

So much better than the 'official' app. With the tasker integration I can now fully control my home from my smart watch.

L70%
by L####:

The integration with tasker is exactly what I've been searching for. Thank you. One point I would like to add though is that there could do with some instructions on how to set it up being added somewhere. I really struggled but got there in the end.

M70%
by M####:

Lightwaverf should be embarrassed, this app is everything the official version should be even after the recent 'upgrades'. Android TV works brilliantly, really happy. Lwrf should give Kuffs a job and stop messing about.

D70%
by D####:

The latest release (after lightwaverf changed loads) has meant having to effectively redo all my tasker plugin commands, but it's all working again now. Good job!

D70%

Not updating rooms since lightwaverf released new app

K70%

Great app

D70%

Just having to wait until I can get a pin from the official site so I can use this over the net

D70%

Has the functionality missing from the official app, like adding certain commands to the home screen. invaluable
