Babbage is a fun and exciting way to learn about the CPU of a simple computer and you can watch instructions and data as they move between the different parts of a working computer. Learn why a computer is defined as a fast idiot.

Babbage is a simple model of a computer that lets you experiment and learn about the way a CPU works in all modern digital computers. It lets you watch as program instructions are fetched, decoded and executed from the app's memory store.

Babbage contains a single calculator(accumulator), a Program Counter, Memory Address, Instruction Register and 100 memory locations. It also contains 4 input devices that you can read and 4 output devices that you can control (all simulated). The app's built in remote is used to control how and when Babbage works.

You can either run Babbage in single step mode (Fetch Decode Execute) or in Program run mode. Babbage comes with a range of example programs and can save your own programs too. The model computer understands 31 different instructions that let you move numbers around, do arithmetic, control outputs, read inputs and change the flow of the program. These are enough to write quite complex programs.
