About Unicode Keyboard

Show your ♥ with Unicode Keyboard!

Unicode Keyboard is a supplementary keyboard that allows you to enter any Unicode 6.0 character or symbol in any active text field.

When you want to add a character that your normal keyboard doesn't include, you simply switch input method to Unicode Keyboard, enter the characters you want and then switch the input method back to your usual keyboard. (Includes a convenient button for switching back.)

• Searchable, block grouped, list of all possible characters.

• Characters can also be entered directly by hexadecimal code.

• Remembers your last nine used characters and provides shortcuts for them so you don't have to go searching every time.

★ Want to type a Ω, µ, ☺, ∞, or ANY other Unicode symbol? Use Unicode Keyboard! ★

To enable the keyboard after installation go to Settings -> Language and Keyboards and then tick the Unicode Keyboard checkbox.

To activate the keyboard hold on a text area where you want to use it and select Input Method from the dialog that appears. Then select Unicode Keyboard. Select and insert the characters you want then tap the keyboard button at the bottom to switch back to your previous input method.

Note: Character display requires font support on the viewing system.

(You can enter any valid character but most will not be visible on your Android device and many will not be visible on your PC without an appropriate font installed. The characters will still work when sent to other services, they just don't display correctly on your phone.)

It's a no go on this galaxy

Searching (by string) does not work on Android 5.0

The majority of these symbols don't work I wish you could just have the ones that did work only show on this app. Its confusing looking for them and takes forever looking for them.

Hundreds of symbols suddenly available, like the arrows below. Even if your device uses a custom font a lot of them — about half in my case, including the few I use a lot — will still show up fine. Developer receptive to suggestions. Overall just a welcome permanent addition to this device. (↓↓↓) @Noah go into your device's settings to enable the keyboard first.

When writing Japanese text, I generally use the excellent GO Keyboard. However, I need occasionally to input single Japanese characters for which I only have the Unicode value. In this case, Unicode Keyboard definitely answers my needs and for me is a keeper :) I just wish there was an option to clear or pre-fill the keypad showing the last 9 characters used. Also, a key to delete already submitted characters without having to revert to my usual keyboard for this would be a welcome addition.

To the people complaining about not being able to switch to this keyboard, try ENABLING it first, then you can make it your default keyboard. This is probably the most comprehensive unicode keyboard on the Android market. I just wish it had a regular, functional keyboard (with emojis). I'd pay money for a keyboard like that!

Worked fine up to Android 4.2.2 but since OTA update to 4.3 and beyond the embedded search keyboard has stopped working so making finding symbols very tedious.

I love this keyboard but it needs to be updated with the new Emoji's. I also think you should add a normal keyboard. So we can use it for texting and messaging.

The whole of Unicode, by hex code, with an easy way to switch back to your primary keyboard. Hasn't been searchable for several Android versions now, though.

For people having issues, select "Setup input methods" and mark the checkbox next to "Unicode Keyboard". Afterwards, this keyboard will be available. [Now, my actual review: The interface might not be perfect, might require too many touches sometimes, but it works fairly well. Even better because it requires no permissions.]

It's way too much hassle to switch between input methods (if you can even find that setting) in order to use this, and you can't type ordinary text while the Unicode method is selected. Just too klunky to be useful. I recommend instead using 'Unicode Map' by David Madore which copies to the clipboard, and allows you to use your normal keyboard to edit the text to be copied. (I have no connection with the author of Unicode Map.)

As a linguistic researcher, I need to work with many languages & many writing systems. This app gives me access to all of them, insofar as there is font & rendering support. I use it almost every day.

You have to set the keyboard as active. What I would like to see is to be able to save a keyboard layout, rather than having to find the same things on the list time after time.

I need a refund
