Hive Camera

Needs so much improvement. Whats the point of just recording media to SD card needs to go to the cloud also as a would be chancer would just take camera and sd card. Constantly get messages about network being interrupted when camera and phone have full wifi. Should be integrated into main hive app. Needs an option to download videos to phone. Please address these issues otherwise people will turn to other solutions such as Blink or Netgear Arlo.

Terrible. What use is an app that constantly tells you can't connect check your internet connection. Everything else is connected. This happens on 4G and on same network as camera. My advice is do not buy this camera. If you already have a Hive system then this camera will not add to your experience as it does not intergrate at all. It does not even use the hub or same Hive app.

Nice to see Luke Prettyjohns, Service Manager at Centrica Connected Homes, and Satinda Pahwa, Solution Architect at British Gas Connected Homes, giving their product a 5 star review! There's nothing like an unbiased review to bump up the average, eh Luke and Satinda!! Clicking on the motion detection alert should take you straight to the video stream, not to the menu page where you then have to select the camera (which one was it that detected the motion again?) The timeout on the video monitor should be user definable (and also be able to set to indefinite). There should be an options to disable the camera from the software for privacy reasons. I asked Hive support and they said I should buy a £39 plug to control it!! Quite often the Zoom functionality stops working. And as Matt Taor said, should be in one app with the rest of the Hive functionality.

Excellent picture and seems to work well so far. Needs to be integrated with the main Hive app as seems stupid to have two separate logins. No facility to record video or capture still images onto phone or tablet.... What happens if intruder takes the camera or removes the SD card? Hopefully will improve.

So the hardware is really nice, however​ this app is not up to standard. Setup was horrible, broken even. App is slow to respond, switching between feeds and menus is painful and clunky. Needs a live thumbnail view and a quick way of moving between camera feeds. Needs a button/widget to switch all cameras off and on, plus timers and scheduling, you know, like Hive. Half the settings aren't explained and so no idea what they do, plus the manual is a joke. Any feed above low resolution becomes choppy and freezes. British Gas need to get this app fixed asap, as we have paid good money for an incomplete system.

App needs a lot of work. Setup is poor, screen jumps between portrait and landscape, fails to connect randomly, audio doesn't work. However, picture quality is pretty good and night vision good too. Has potential

Keep losing connection, app keeps locking me out so have to change password every other day. Camera doesn't work with the sd card in it. This is unacceptable and needs some serious work doing to it.

Doesn't connect or says it's connecting then says there was a network interruption and you have to start again when trying to view your live feed so can often take 3 or 4 mins to connect over a very fast 4g signal or a 30mb+ WiFi connection. Also agree should be part of the main hive app. Needs a lot of work but once connected video image is very good both day and night

A good start, works well and reasonably stable would be better if merged with other hive app instead of having two log ins and two apps let's see what happens with updates hopefully cure SD card issue's

Agree with many others. When picture on it's very good. But constantly having to reconnect to the network is appalling. When unplugging etc it should reconnect automatically. App needs a lot of work and now not in 12 months time or you will lose a lot of customers. Agree with saving to cloud and be able to choose where if you already subscribe to one of the popular options. Edited: after using this app with my new camera for just 24 hours I have to say it is dire. Connections are always cutting out or won't connect. Even though I have ticked keep connected etc I keep getting told to log on. It is so messy getting around the app which is so buggy it should not even be made available until it works correctly. I have several Hive items which work well but really regret buying this. Don't buy a Hive camera!

Unable to talk on Galaxy S8+ and we would like a few baby melodies to play. Good but could be better.

Not a great start. Two way conversations do not work as speaker is too quiet. Hive technical support however has been great. They have replaced camera but we still have same problem. Tried on Samsung S8+ and S7 edge. Both SD cards supplied have failed, not even recognised when I put in my phone to check. They need a better quality supplier as my SanDisk card never fails. App needs work as other people have said; motion detection should take you straight to the playback. There is no tooltip to tell you what the icons are on the live camera view. Needs a grid view for multiple cameras. Find it annoying how you have to go through reconnecting the camera if you unplug it to move it, this also causes issues and I had to totally remove camera and start again. The quality of the picture however is excellent. Just feel like it's been released too early and the customer is having to debug all the problems. This should've been done prior to release with a test group.

What's the point? I don't see the point of this camera if it requires a separate app and doesn't merge with other hive products. I might as well buy a more proven product from another company.

Brilliant, a few mins to set up and away you go. Connected to my Wi-Fi easily and quickly, works really well. Great app , no issues and no i dont work for British Gas.

Great, works well and does what it says. Night vision is good quality too

Easy and simple to use. Loads of great features! Camera quality is super! and having a speaker built in is useful and fun.
