BBC iPlayer Radio for Android
Offline radio programmes, whenever you're ready to listen. The attractive interface is easy to use. I'd like to schedule recordings for a whole series, (unless I simply haven't found that feature yet). Would benefit from the option to store downloads on the microSD card.
Sign in required? No thanks. I can listen to DAB without signing in so why does the app need it? For personalisation that I can disable after signing in? I could use the app fine without personalisation before having to sign in. Ridiculous requirement. Bullet dodged, too, with all the issues people have been having with the latest update. Sign in requirement saved me the hassle, so thanks, I guess.
In the past few weeks, my Galaxy S6 reboots itself quite often when playing back downloaded programmes, can be every 10 mins. This only happens when using this app. Would be good to find the cause and sort it.
I have enjoyed this app for a long time but it started crashing on the first download of a session. This locks my tablet for a long time and I sometimes need to dismiss the app or reboot my tablet to get response back. It didn't do tnis in the past but an update a while ago started tbis behaviour.
Has always worked well and every time they update it they add something thoughtful. Probably my favourite app. I can't quite understand the angst other reviewers have about signing in, considering that just having a phone forces you to have an account with companies as intrusive as Apple or Google; signing in to the BBC is fairly inoffensive.
After the latest update the app connects automatically as the default Bluetooth player in my car. This is really annoying - please fix it!
I can't get rid of the images of phones. This app was always improving and was my most used. It is now infuriating and useless
I can no longer use controls in the car to skip forward or back when playing programmes in a list. It worked fine before the latest update, can you please fix? I don't use Android Auto, I just connect the phone to the car system via Bluetooth and didn't have to touch the phone while driving at all!..
Has it been a year that downloads have been continually failing? A very long time and many updates haven't fixed it. It's a shame as it was a good app.
Much improved, though the problems with failing downloads were annoying until I found instructions for fixing them. Google "BBC iPlayer radio why are downloads not completing on android devices" I wish that with autoplay off it wouldn't advance to what would be the next episode anyway. Just stop at the end of the current one. Still no landscape player. Still can't use the podcast links to subscribe through another app. One improvement I'd like to see is to distinguish between "following" and "in listen later" rather than just having the same tick by the program. Perhaps two ticks or a tick plus a circle so they can be combined?
Good app would have given 5 stars but it only has one option to listen to BBC Radio Solent for Hampshire and the isle of Wight it doesn't have the option to listen to BBC Radio Solent for West Dorset on the local radio list
Oh no not AGAIN!!! Again the latest update has upset what was once a sound working app. Bluetooth tooth sometimes works with live shows but try get a download to play and you going to struggle. At first I thought it was due to my devices update to Oreo?? I discounted that idea as all, yes all my other apps work fine if not better. I hope they fix these bugs soon.
What's happened to it? The alarm used to work perfectly but recently this piece of goddam turd has had me late as it doesn't go off anymore. BBC sort your life out for f**k sake........
Since the latest update, I get a sign-in screen on startup, which is fine, but tapping "sign in" shows an error, "sign in / register failed". I've tried clearing data and reinstalling, but I still get the same error.
Love this app and use it daily but unfortunately since the last update the programmes I'm following under 'My Radio' are not reordering when a new episode is available. Also, the pause/play button on my headphones (wired) no longer works with this app, programmes restart a second or 2 after pressing the pause button. This does not happen with other apps.
Love the app been using it for years but I think you need to put text in for the radio programs so people who don't have time to drop the numbers down always can us that and good for competitions that you guys you for big gigs
With my headphones in every time I look at the lock screen iPlayer is there even though I've not been listening to it. So I close the notification but it comes back straight away. I kill the app, still the notification comes back. It's like a virus.
New upgrade today and now can't run app - immediately crashes on open. Did you not test the new version before rolling it out? I'm on a Galaxy A3 2016 running Android 7.0
I have paired my phone with my car and annoyingly this app activates when I start the engine...playing the last thing I listened to. Also, doesn't seem to like downloading and then playing later. The app crashes.
'Play All' feature stopped working after a recent update. Makes the app useless for me. I be resulting to other options for bbc radio if it's not fixed soon. 5* genrally. 1* currently.
Ridiculously overcomplicated yet won't do the simplest of things like just actually play something. Life's too short to faff about with this!
Would love this app but .... every time it updates it loses the record of those programmes I have listened to in My Radio. So for example in a prog like 'Archive on 4' which has 100+ episodes I have to scroll through them all to try to remember which ones I have heard. It's such a waste of time and defeats the object of highlighting them in the first place. I have asked them why, or what I can do to prevent it happening, but they don't answer difficult questions so it has been ignored. Even if it is a quirk of my phone I would like to know. It also needs programme length stated in the listing in My Radio. You have to open the programme to find out if you have time to listen to it all. Amazingly, there is no synchronization, so if I download it on another phone or tablet it doesn't show programmes watched. The sound sometimes misses words, so listening can be difficult. I have tried it on different phones and tablets so it isn't just my phone. The rating here is for the app and not for the excellent programmes. Surely the BBC has the wherewithal to resolve all these problems. October 2017 update - lost all records again. So they don't read the reviews here, or they couldn't care less.
On a twice weekly basis I have delete , re load the app just be able to download something..getting terrible
You broke it, iPlayer radio keeps stopping ☹️. Downloads are a train wreck, please fix.
Sign in very annoying. They want to ' personalise' it. Naff off you BBC wonkers. Also Dysfunctional search.
I get the app loading when I press listen live but it won't load. Annoying.
Aaargh permissions creep! Why does app need permission to pair with Bluetooth devices? The phone o/s provides that functionality quite happily.
I hate the BBC! All I want is to listen to podcasts but there is no option!
Since updates constantly refuses to open without rebooting phone first
The alarm feature was good, but on the last 3 occasions it has cancelled itself in the night - NOT GOOD!
Why on earth do İ need to sign in to listen to public radio?
Not sure what's gone wrong but the alarm no longer works. I miss being woken up by John Humphries in a morning!
Logging in is a real pain uninstalled and found alternative app
I'm quite capable of finding the stations I'm looking for without you "personalising" it for me. I don't want to sign in.. deleted the app goodbye
The app is good but the program download functions fails for the last 6 months or so on Nexus 7
Great another password to remember, throw it on the pile! Downloads are working again though so thanks.
Nope, not going to sign up to listen to radio. That's the opposite of what radio is. Loved the old app. Back to browser streaming I guess.
Keeps crashing on Pixel 2 XL
When it works its good, but the alarm function seems unreliable Still.

If you're going force users to log in at least have the commen sense to allow the app to remember the login into. I've been told 3 times now that my email address isn't recognised. If you're trying to force users away from using this app, you're doing a great job. But being the BBC, no doubt it's anyone fault apart from yours....
