About MK Trails: Wolverton
This app tells stories about the town of Wolverton. These are partly told through the words of historians who have studied the town, partly through the lenses of cameras which have photographed it and partly through the voices of the people who have lived here.
Wolverton was the world’s first railway town, created on a greenfield site in Buckinghamshire by the London and Birmingham Railway Company in the 1830s as a staging post – the farthest their steam locomotives could run without refuelling or mechanical attention. Consequently, 52 miles north of London, the company built railway workshops to service and maintain, and eventually build, their engines. As the factory expanded it needed more workers and the town grew to accommodate them. Wolverton was a grid of red brick terraces, punctuated by municipal buildings and community facilities, all built by the railway company.
You will find, as you explore this app and the town it describes, that the state of the railways would continue to have a lasting impact on the fate of the town.
This app makes use of GPS to show you places of interest close to your current location. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Really interesting content which allowed me to explore this town anew. 3 guided walks, depending on how much time you have. But the real gold for me was the oral histories, voices from the past that made it all the more real.
