I've been using this app for a while now and should have reviewed earlier. I use it in the field whenever I come across something I'm unfamiliar with and it rarely lets me down. The search by host species is particularly useful for quick reference. Excellent work. Have you considered a pest and disease (non fungal) app to accompany it?

When you're out in the field and forget a name or find something unusual this is so useful. Thank you.

I've got this same app on my iPhone 4 and the picture quality is superb. Now downloaded the android version on my new galaxy note 3 and the quality is noticeably inferior, to the point of unusable in the field for identing fungi, real shame.....not sure who is to blame but a poor show really.

U70%
by U####:

I find the app slow to use and clunky in general. For example, I am not sure what I clicked in the color identification search, there is no feedback. It's also a bit ridiculous to provide so many similar shades. The bottom menu covers up content. The font is frequently difficult to read. The general interface looks like it suffers from reinventing the wheel. It would be better to use standard UI widgets and the Android style conventions. Page loads take seconds.

Best ID app on the market. Pictures could do with being bigger, or ability to enlarge them. Where is the Sycamore.? Otherwise, excellent.

Good app. Could be improved if the a-z of common names was in alphabetical order of the common name, not the Latin name.

The blurb claims "The app makes it easy to find and identify fungi in the field". This is not the case. The photographs are low resolution, there are no identification keys, no notes on distinguishing features, no details of similar fungi with which those listed may be confused, no information on tests with reactive agents etc. The usefulness of the colour chart is questionable. In my opinion you would be better off putting your money towards a Collins field guide. Hopefully the developer(s) will issue free updates that will address these issues.

This could be a potentially great app if it did not keep asking for the initial download every time I open it. Please fix so I can give it 5 stars.

Could be excellent App if it worked. Asks to download 689 jpg files for photo data base before use. If not completed or signal dropped starts download from file one again. Does not recognize that previous downloaded photos have been stored. Costly for non use

Well we are known for our competition! Brilliant concept, and the use will be banned at the forthcoming trade show! A few tweaks are required here and there in relation to the usefullness out in the field for identification related to host with the pathogenic fungi. However, very useful for potentially identifying the non-pathogenic fungi which the arborist would be less familiar with. Well done to those that have put it together.

It has taken a bit of patience and perseverance to get this to work (hint: find and delete all relevant files before reinstalling) but it seems to be working now. 4 stars as it looks great at the mo, if remains stable I will def update to 5!
