About Weather Watch Widget

** Long click a free spot on your home screen to add this WIDGET **

This is a simple widget that searches for and shows weather from the nearest available Weather Display compatible weather station using your devices location, or you can choose a weather station from a (growing) list.

You can also configure the widget to point it to your own (or someone else's) weather station if you know the URL to the clientraw.txt file that the Weather Display software provides.

The database of weather stations it uses is based on the ones found here: http://www.weather-watch.com/links/Weather-Stations/

Update frequency is configurable to 2, 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Or you can turn the scheduled update off. You can also you set an option to show the current temperature, wind speed in the Android notification bar, as well as showing a rain icon if rain is detected. Credit to Jens Keller for helping me fix the temperature notification icon in November 2016.

Underneath the 'weather description' line, the widget shows a series of up to 6 weather measurements (rain today, average windspeed in last 10 minutes, max gust in last hour, humidity, pressure, dew point temperature, indoor temperature). These can be individually turned on or off. There is only space for 2 per line though.

Temperature units are configurable to Celsius or Fahrenheit. Wind units can be knots, mph, kph, m/s. Humidity is displayed as a percentage figure. Pressure can be displayed in inches or millibars. Rain Units are configurable to mm or inches. Daily min/max temperature can also be shown in very small text next to the main temperature value.

The widget also shows a wind direction indicator (a white arrow) which points in the direction the wind is going (up for north). The arrow gets thicker if windspeed increases.

A red up arrow is shown to the right of the temperature reading if the temperature is going up (in the last hour), or a blue down arrow is shown if it's going down. A green arrow can be shown next to the rainfall value indicating air pressure tendency (up or down).

The widget background can be changed to either black, transparent, semi transparent, a cloud or a dynamic 10 hour graph of temperature, rain, pressure or wind.

Have used this fantastic app for years - just reinstalled it on my new S7 edge. So useful to have it on my home screen wherever I am

No matter what direction widget was streched top and bottom numbers is missing very annoying.

I used to give this 5 stars but have dropped to 4 because my weather station is not in the list off preset weather stations it keeps changing to a station 30+ miles away and sometime it used a station in Israel (I'm in the uk). Untick the nearest station box and you loose it doesn't tell you the txt off the weather station? Can anyone help?

Does what it's supposed to. Love being able to display my clientraw.txt data on my phone. Too bad they are no longer updating it.

This is an ideal widget for getting real time weather. Would recommend :)

Great Widget, Keep up the good work and keep adding those stations.

Excellent widget which displays the data from my Meteohub linked weather station very reliably on my Nexus 7. I love the way it can overlay the numerical data on a graphical background (I use the temperature plot for the last 10 hours). It would be even better if the temperature trend arrow had a 'steady' setting (instead of displaying rising), but that is a very minor niggle with an excellent product.

and when it does, the temperature is way off.

Latest version loses its settings from time to time resulting in no updates and widget having to be reset. Shame as prior to the updates to allow more than one location, this app was solid.

I tried them all and hands down this one is the best. I have the update interval set at 2 minutes. Every time I look the weather conditions are never more than 2 minutes old. Works over the cell phone network well as WII FI. If your looking for the very latest weather conditions from your own weather station or a weather station near you this widget's for you.

I was looking for a weather widget that displayed wind speed in kts as well as temp in K. This provides a very functional way of displaying weather info to supplement another clock/weather widget with unit shortcomings. Nice work! Thx.

Great as it connects direct to either of my weather stations and links to my main weather site. Being a widget it can be left on home screen and set to update automatically every 2mins.

This app is great as it connects directly to my weather site. The problem I have is it doesn't update on the set schedule. It like loses its connection daily and doesn't update forcing me to reboot phone or manually refresh it. Maybe it isn't ready for 4.0.4? I wish it would work all the time because it is great to get my weather in a widget !! Un-installing the paid version for the time being.

I am replacing my previous review and bumping this to 5 stars. Previously I noted that WW installed fine on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 running stock Honeycomb but that it would not run. However, I recently installed a custom ROM (Cyanogenmod 2.6.36.4) plus Go Launcher EX and Weather Watch runs perfectly on this combination. I also updated my Razr Maxx phone last weekend with an ICS leak and have WW running on that as well. However, there is one caveat. Google Market claims that WW8.5 is not compatible with my Razr Maxx and it will not let me directly download and update from WW8.4. However, since both the Razr Maxx and the Samsung Galaxy Tab are rooted and running Titanium BU, I was able to use Dropbox to move the backup files from the Galaxy tab to the Razr and then restore them on the Razr. The author says that the determination as to whether a program is compatible with a particular device/OS combination is solely up to Google. I hope they get this sorted out eventually. I was anxious to get the 8.5 upgrade on both devices since my own weather station has been added as a standard option from the pull down list. Manual entry of Wx stations is still possible in any case.
