I downloaded this for the trail maps, which is the most useful part of the app. Sadly, they cannot even make that work. Quote"Download the handy trail maps to help navigate your way around the forest" The only thing they have right with this app is the cost... FREE. No one would pay for this cráp.
seems to be an app for the sake of having an app, its directionless, does not appear to have a purpose or target other than to exist
Thetford Forest is the biggest lowland pine forest in Britain and the only thing this app has for any of its sites is a list about High Lodge and even then none of the trail maps. Useless and inexplicably large.

Sadly missing Forestry Commission woodlands...so this apps need a considerable about of filling in/bulking up. Then it will become really beneficial. Very good to have the filter option, and especially great to see *Wheelchair Users* getting a filter option...so important for ease of accessing your wonderful woodlands. So please fill up the app with all of your FC woodlands open to the public. Thank you
More of an advert than an app. Tree identifier is missing so many common British trees, its not worth using.
The in-app links to the maps don't work. One has to go to the Forestry website from a browser, which is tiresome. HTC One m8.
Cannot download maps for cannock chase. I tried a few weeks ago whe i first downloaded the app and tried again 5 minutes ago to make sure it wasnt a server related issue. I have not tested any other functions.
Very little information on the New Forest. Little or no car parks shown. No information on the walks.
Only covers forests with official sites. There are far more trails to explore through it Britain.
I was hoping to find the cycle trails at thetford forest... according to the guys who look after them... There are none. I can't believe there's no map. A lot of developing still to be done.

It won't load GS4
Looks like it was designed by a 5 year old, 5 years ago! Can't even load the cycle and walking trails which is the only real feature it claims to have.
20mb for an app that redirects to website? Surely some mistake!
Good tree identifier. The PDF maps are too low resolution though, zoom In and they blur badly.
Now it works on HTC Sensation ICS its great. Next improvement would be GPS location shown on map
Great idea with a few issues still. When the map is zoomed to a useful size to view on a smartphone the numbers are indistlnct.
Shows all the FC sites local to your location. A great tree identifier. Thanks
Only england forests on it
You get all the info via the web, so not much point in this app
Helped me track down pesky European alders for my chemistry project.:)
60MB is a big program for one that is rarely used and cannot be moved to sd card... If I'm short of space this will be 1st to go!
Badly implemented way too large, you may as well just open a browser.
Now that the app is smaller and can be moved to the SD card is great news. Awesome.
Wow I love it. So awesome!
Haven't had a chance to use the app but already thinking of removing it simply as it can't be moved to SD card as it is best 60 Meg.
Top app
As others have said, it's too big for phone so I can't install it.
Just needs a few more trees.
Needs to be movable, the id bit should come as a separate app, please?
A nice app
Everytime you click on an event it stops working. I assume there must be wifi throughout all the sites so you can reference the maps when you are there? Or am I being silly?
Only 28 trees. I know there are more species in the country !
One obvious issue the app has is that when you select a location you would expect when selecting the tree finder, it would only list trees and info within that forest. No, it gives a general list of all trees. Considering the Forestry Commission is wanting people to get involved, retain our forests etc. etc. You would think that they would provide the information relevant to the area you have selected. Instead as many others have said, it cheats you into going back to their website. A complete rethink on this app and yes, it seems they have had an app for apps sake.
I wanted some local maps, but this simply pushes you out to a website, which is a static copy of a leaflet you can pick up on site. What on earth are you doing with the 33mb? Whoever commissioned this was ripped off, whoever developed it should be ashamed of themselves.
I have found this app to be very useful, yes it is quite a big app, the tree identifier tool could be better if more trees were added. Maybe it would be better to have separate apps for the tree identifier, & split the maps into smaller areas with more details.
What a shame. This could have had useful, mobile-friendly content to enhance visits to some beautiful places. Sadly it didn't. I know you can do better!
Just basically a map of England and some pictures of trees. . . Where are all the routes to walk and cycle? To have picnics? Places where you can see deer? Google maps will do a better job with Google goggles to identify the trees lol
