About ARTE

With the free ARTE app you can watch almost all of the channel’s TV programmes again, free of charge and free from advertising. Versions available include: original with subtitles, French, German, and in some cases, subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing and subtitles in English and Spanish. Any available version can be selected directly in the video player.

The varied content includes cinema, movies, TV series, news bulletins, and pop, rock and classical concerts. Documentaries cover topical issues such as the environment, politics, Europe, medicine, economics, society and art.

Outside of France and Germany, ARTE offers a selection of programmes subtitled in English and Spanish: ARTE in English and ARTE en español. Programmes are available to watch throughout the whole of Europe and in some instances, the world over.

You can switch languages at any time to take advantage of the larger French and German offering.

What are users saying about ARTE

by R####:

Excellent app with a good selection of programs to watch in German and French (w/ English subtitles). The navigation could use some work to be a smoother experience however. Hoping to see some improvements on that front. By all means, take inspiration from the big dogs, e.g., Netflix—they've somewhat mastered the user navigation by now and should be a benchmark for most apps serving video media.
