TuneIn Radio - Radio & Music

I had to uninstall it as it couldn't be turned off, when played. This was despite swiping the app shut. It hung around in my music player and the stop button was inoperable. Having uninstalled and reinstalled the "free" player, I was interested to see it now offered a 7 day and 30 day free trial; with a bolt on subscription cost. It is a good app with plenty of stations featured and I understand good apps cost to develop but if you want me to pay for it then it needs to work properly. In this case be able to stop it. For that, it loses marks.

UPDATED from previous review: WHEN, WHEN, WHEN will you support Ford AppLink for Android? It had been supported on iOS for a long time now. Also still hoping for better bit rates, but work on AppLink support first. Thanks. UPDATE #2: I waited and waited for Ford AppLink support, but never came. Then they dropped my favorite station, CDNX. So I'm dropping TuneIn for RadioLine. Good bye!

The variety is great, I've found some great stations and wouldn't be without this app. That said there could be some easy improvements. I'd love to be able to stop it showing stations that just won't work where I am and themes are really simple. In fact so simple I'd probably pay the subscription if they were available on pro. Seems petty, but the green messes with my phone theme when I have the widget! And the useful widget is huge! All stations seem to need to buffer a lot more recently... hopefully this will be fixed at the next update. :)

Gotta love the "OLD TIME RADIO" choices that are available. Too many to list. In the years that I have used this app, I have never had any major issues. Couple of hiccups but nothing that created any problems for me. And for that reason, I'm writing my first review. (Actually, just more of a "Thank you" to the developers for giving me the best access to Old Time Radio content that I have found.) By far one of my favorite apps and one that I have had the longest!

When app left open- is opening ads for playstore without even clicking on them. One occasion there was audio saying I had been randomly selected for something or other, thought my phone was getting a virus. Also the adds have increased a lot recently. Really liked the app before any of this. Looking for an alternative now.

There's an opportunity for improvement. When streaming a station and sending the playback to a Bluetooth system (like a car), can we make the stream to blend in with the audio coming from Google Maps GPS Navigation. It currently pauses the stream until Google stops speaking which can get a bit annoying. Other music players blend both feedback to simultaneously speak (by temporarily lowering the volume of the music). Can we get Tune In to do the same please?

This app has continued to crash since two updates ago. When ads switch or internal store gets between 35-50mb it locks the phone and yet keeps playing audio. The developer answer - did you go to App manager and force stop? Yeah the first 29 times. Sent at least 40 fdbks with sys logs. Wonder if advertisers are aware of the issue. If I have to turn the phone off to get the app to truly stop....but before I do look at the app screen, there is an x where the ad should be....just "hhhhmmmm"

I love being able to listen to the Hometown teams broadcasters. I am not in Boston so I need tune in radio two to listen to the Patriots games. Tonight Duke is playing Carolina. Carolina is my number one team in the ACC and Duke is my number 2 team in the ACC and I like the Duke announcers better than I like the Carolina announcers so I'm going to listen to The Duke Channel. I love being able to do that. I am paying but I can't wait till baseball season is here so I can listen to my beloved Baltimore Orioles!!! I hope it works out the way I hope it does! She

Used to be the best streaming radio app for years. But it went down hill since about a year. They added more and more adds and want a Monthly subscription to turn them off. Often it crashes and you can't stop the music when swipe shutting the app. I would be willing to pay a one off fee to turn ads off but not every single month for an app that is buggy.

Will update to 5 out of 5 but I got a new phone, Google Pixel XL, and when I try to sign in with my premium account via Facebook, it says Unable to reach TuneIn and doesn't react to my touch of the Facebook icon to log in. I had to change my account to Google and resign up to premium. Also, when listening to audio books, they will randomly pause between chapters and not play again until I wake the phone and open the app again. Then it'll play. Besides these bugs, great app. Will update, but please fix both!

I love the app but its the only music app that sets off my high battery usage notification. Though it doesn't seem to drain more then any other music app it seems to set it off. I would like to say other than that it is a great app I still prefer live radio I like a live DJ it makes the experience more enjoyable. Plus you have Audio books, podcasts, and many other selections.

Once you start listening to music on this app, you won't be able to stop... literally. I say literally because it literally will not stop playing no matter what you do. This is a slight problem--one that should be fixed, but I'm not going to stop starting to listen to music even if it means I'll eventually have to restart my device in order to make it stop.

This app is unusable because of all of the constant ads. I can understand having banner ads but to have ads pop up over the screen and interrupt the audio stream with more ads is where I draw the line. It is completely and totally unacceptable. The app sucks now and I will be looking for a better alternative because I'm sick and tired of all of the unnecessary ads.

Again the ad stuffing on the app ruins the chip load and crashs app the many commercials, loading them over station s as priority.ruins the moment u think of listening to a show. Ruins the other entities with advertising being stuffed on the top of health you normal loads with our slow chips out there the advertising

Signal lost very often. Even stay still but lost the music. Also Please confirm on the refund as i cancel the subscribtion straight away as the first email mention that no charge until the end of the trail. However after cancelled the second email says no refund?

The only thing wrong with this app is it keeps freezing every time after three to five minutes on every screen. Could you please fix that? P.S.: Are you still working on this app? Im still waiting patiently for bug fixes.

always has a problem loading. audio speeds up during commercials, and then slows down to a low pitch and tempo when shows return. commercials run multiple times if you dont close app, which is inconvenient when driving. app crashes often.

It freezes randomly and if the music is playing when it freezes, the only way to stop it is by restarting the phone. Closing the app doesn't help. It's just so buggy and slow. It's not my phone because I can use other apps just fine.

Since the last update, whole listening to a stream, the app automatically transfers you to Google play store to download whatever app its advertising. Its really annoying as the stream cuts off and you can't press the back key to get out of Google play store. You have to press home key and reload tune in for not to happen again!!!!!!! Sort it out.

Have happily used this app for years. In the last few months however the constant freezing and crashing has become totally unbearable. It's become slow and bloated with a huge amount of bugs. Time to look elsewhere.

"A stream connection error occurred"... I have had this app for a few years now and love it, but since the beginning of the year, this is all get when I try to open the app. I even un- and re-installed it (which caused me to lose my faves) to try and fix the problem. Will go back to higher stars when this bug is fixed.

This app has a great selection of stations. I mostly use it to listen to my local NPR station. Sometimes it's glitchy. I'll hear the same few seconds of material twice. Not sure if that is the app or the radio station causing that problem.

I am and have been addicted to TuneIn Radio for years! My guilty pleasure stations? Abacus.fm ( 31 years old, and a singer, love my top 40 and anything unique. However in my down time..always Abacus...

Was a definite favorite. But something changed. Now it crashes constantly. Locks up, keeps playing music, can't be stopped unless the phone or tablet (I have both) are powered off. This definitely needs to be fixed.

Listening to Hard Rick Heaven totally sucks! Multiple commercials between every song and just now the song was interrupted 3 times with a commercial right in the middle of the song! Just pisses me off! Worse than regular radio!

This app stops all the time, the pod cast will normally keep playing but the screen will lock and a message will display telling me that the app has stopped and would I like to close it. I have another radio app that never locks up and plays what I select.

Well it's great app just just needs a couple of tweaks in my eyes and it'd go from a 3 star to a 5. The notification tool thing that let's you pause and rewind etc is awful, lack of buttons and seriously needs fixing

The free version of the app constantly crashes or locks up, usually when the ad changes. Why would I pay for the full version, when the free version is so big ridden? Fix the app and then I'll consider buying the full version.

App locks up so I have to do a restart on the phone to close it. No reason why I can think it happens, I'll be listening to the radio then want to adjust the volume or change station and it's crashed. Shame as it was a good app.

What's going on, you have made a great application useless. People out using earphones, can't use your application because of safety and job reasons. A lite screen can be seen from to far away.

It's great when it works. W/Different OS' and phones over a few yrs I still find TuneIn a mixed bag. Pro: feeds my radio habit well. I can listen to my fave stations wherever I am. App will cache a bunch of a show for listening later...kind of like DVR. Con: Crashes randomly. Can't connect sometimes when signal is good. Too many taps...esp in "car mode" which is presumably supposed to keep you away from phone fast.

Keeps saying I need to put the car in park to continue browsing on android auto when the car is in park.. Need a way to disable this... In reply.. I have not had this happen with other android auto apps.

So I am writing another review for this app as my other one was a couple of years old. You put the BBC back on the app, but for the past 6 or 7 months the app just freezes at random times. It freezes during playback, search, going to favorites folder, etc.. That problem fixed, this could again be my favorite app, as I literally use it every single day. I turn mine on at bedtime so as to not have the light of the tv. Then I usually spend another 30 minutes trying to make it function. Just did the update.. nothing!! It's still screwed up!! Come on you all, just go back to basic please!!

The only problem with this app is that it locks up, and then it says "Tune In radio isn't responding. Do you want to close it?" Please fix that. Otherwise it's easy to use, thanks for developing it! Update: I did a Factory Reset on my phone wiping everything off my phone. I put everything back on my phone including this app and it still does that on every place I go in the app. I don't even do anything when it freezes up. I just leave it, and then when I try to close it after about 5 minutes it's unresponsive.

I don't like the new update. Each time I make a call, get a text or start my car, the app stops and cuts off. Then I have to restart it and loose all the show that I was listening to. Each restart causes it to fully restart the point I was listening to. Please fix.

For the latest release, it keeps hanging. Was great, now, not so much. Shame, as I like this app, but keeps saying "error has occurred". Nexus 7, Android 5 Update, under running apps, I now see 2 instances of tune in radio. Hangs, cannot quit the app, freezes my Moto G frequently, definitely better apps out there now.

Keeps locking up my phone. Can't change programs. Can't even adjust the volume unless I force stop the app. Thank God I didn't pay for the complete app. It used to be so wonderful, but now it's crap.

Sometimes, it is easier to accidently close the app than it is to close it on purpose. I still faithfully use this app on a daily basis. However, the constant crashing is still pretty bad. Also, other audio sources continue to stop the stream and close the app, rather than PAUSE IT. Please fix, and replies are appreciated. Thanks.

The last versions crash or freeze too often maybe because my slow DSL cannot handle the constant ads! Otherwise TuneIn is loaded with many useful features such as the ability to stream audio to Bluetooth devices or smart or Chromecast equiped TV.

UPDATE: The occasiinal freezing and inability to turn the app off has turned into freezing the entire device (Sansung Galaxy Tab S 8.4) every few minutes and never being able to turn off the app without going through the Active Applications screen. This is highly problematic and greatly reduces any enjoyment I can get, from the app, as I like the old time radio shows, and I keep missing parts, when I have to restart constantly. Old review: I like the ability to play stuff in the background, a feature that YouTube is sorely lacking.This app is generally pretty good. There are occasional glitches, such as random crashing or inability to shut it down.
