Firefly Vapor for Android
Connection issues seem to have been fixed as updates rolled out. I would love to see the actual temperatures somewhere on the app. When it comes to pain management, I personally like this thing more than the crafty, mighty, and other vapes people are claiming work better.
Would like to have the temperatures displayed within the app in addition to it just saying medium medium high etc. (and please, if you add this make sure it can be in Celsius). Also would like more button customization. For instance being able to press a button and it switches to a pre defined temperature. This would be a great easy way to quickly switch between commonly used temps without having to open the app every time. Also the battery indicator doesn't seem to be reliable. This actually goes for the device itself as well. It'll blink a few times only for it to turn red once I start heating it up. Also why do I need to enable location?
I would prefer explicit temperature shown in the app rather than the vague Low, Medium, High, etc. types. Other than that, no major gripes. App design is a bit 'Meh' but is functional.
Pathetic device pathetic lying company. Get the grasshopper if you like what they claim the ff2 can do. For those who mention this does not work.as advertised I'm glad too.see some.others know quality. If you like.this vape truly you haven't used a top.tier vape a true one. Like.the crafty or the mighty both better vape by far with more features better and consistent hits. For anyone who has used a true vape I simply don't understand why this is so good try other portables this is a 330$ trashcan
A few things: * Battery Indicator still doesn't show accurate readings. * Temperature Presets should show the actual temp, not just "high". * Power Tuning should be more explanatory as to what it does. * For such a small app it takes 10 seconds to load on average, across a wide variety of devices.
And it says designed for phones what a joke. It only works on "lollipop" or 5.0 or higher... Only certain carriers offer this and without it the ff2 is about a hundred dollar vape IMO but with it its worth every penny of 300$
Like several reviewers I cannot believe that this app needs GPS in order to find and connect to a device 10 cm away. It is also hard to believe that without an app it is hard to set the device. Feels like a 'because we can' application for the sake of it, not something that makes the device actually easier to use. Please can next update drop the 'must turn on locations' part, I never have locations on my tablet and now I've already had extra locations based rubbish downloading from those Google people. Hilarious really, considering the main purpose of the device and the customers who want to use it.
Doesn't work with my Note 4. Ridiculous
Firefly 2 is a great product but the app is atrocious. I can't even connect my firefly to the app. Please fix and this review goes to 5 stars. Just needs some bugs to be worked out.
Can you please add the actual temperatures to the temp menu? I know they're listed in the manual but listing on the app would be pretty convenient.
Keep practicing, get a new phone that can use the app; make sure your unit isn't defective etc. This vape gets results.
Now it's working correctly. Thanks for the fix.
Won't connect to unit. ..Uninstalled. re installed. ..shows me the unit but won't connect. ...worked for the first day? ???
The crafty is older and has much more options then this :(
Good interface, I see lots of potential. Does what it needs for now.
It does not function as advertised. Battery indicator does not work. Not even a little. Considering the price of this vaporizer I expected that the advertised features would actually work. I'm quite disappointed that I paid as much as I did.
You need the app to adjust temp or use concentrates and their app requires qps location. I wish this was info I knew before spending over $300 on this weak vape.
I love the app merely for the adjustable power levels. Now I run on Concentrates and have no problem getting clouds on first draw. Just have to be mindful of combustion at that level, but it's been rare in my case.
Battery issue has been fixed... the power control is very cool!
The app itself is OK, except for an inappropriate I security intrusion. There is no reason for you to know my location. Not ever. For US citizens (and others) your data can be used to do them harm. My GPS location is none of your damned business. I should not have to give you that info just to check how charged my battery is, or tweak my heat level. What the hell people. Get some ethics. Hire somebody who has some if you have to, but this is seriously not OK.
Nexus 6P. Recent update fixed connection issues, connection has been consistent and sustainable. App does exactly what it should, it could use some presentation improvements but it actually works now so I'm happy.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha(S5) running Android 5.0.2 says it is a supported device... could not connect. Chatted with Max at firefly support who told me the firefly only supports Android 6.0. I explained to him reluctantly that the description for the app clearly states it is functional on all Android 5.0 and up. I found the support less than helpful from firefly and even frustrating. Returned item because I didn't feel I should have to upgrade a phone that is less than 2 years old. Amateur app design and amateur support system... Firefly should take note of how many other companies treat their customers. Take a look at Storz and Bickel's crafty remote app on google play and all of the positive reviews. Not too mention all the replies to negative reviewers that seem to solve problems rather than create them.
Galaxy S6. New update, connection fixed.
my firefly
Exellent app and update. The power tuning is amazing, vapor production is now very visble on all heat settings. As for connection, on s6 edge i have to lock my phone in connect menu. Only when i unlock my phone will my firefly be there to connect, its pretty annoying but just a bug. Also the battery indication is still not really there, aside from that golden.
Since the new version I cannot connect the app to the device. It also fails the firmware update every time. I'm using a Nexus 6P on Android 7.0. I'd think a device of this quality and precision would support all flagship phones and their most current OS. App was nice if even a little lean when it worked but now I'm stuck on a single heat setting...
The battery indicator through the app works good now, also battery life is exellent 60to90 min per charge . Charge time is approx 45 minutes with fast charger ! Now you can fine tune the heat setting down too one degree increments, there is how ever a large Zone between the Highest High setting 431 degrees too the Concentrate lowest setting of 489 degrees, something around 450-460 degee would work great. The only drawback is the High and concentrate levels overheats constantly after 3-5 ,10 second draws
Seen lots of negative reviews so I thought I'd chime in with a positive experence. No problem getting things updated and I'm enjoying the improvements. Now if they could just redesign the top so that I could get a good seel everytime...iv had to reglue the rubber but wow what a difference.
So many bad ratings for location permissions, when it's Androids fault, not theirs. It has to be enabled for Bluetooth LE devices to work with Android, they even mention it in the description. The only real issue with the app is the battery indicator, once that's fixed, it will be perfect. Confirmed working on stock Verizon Droid Turbo 2 with Android 6.0 *update for new version* connected to my same Droid Turbo 2 just fine, updated firmware perfectly, have not tested battery indicator.
Basic app does what it says BUT It would be nice to change it so you can see the percentage of your battery life. Pretty pointless as it is now because you just see if it's fully charged or dead. Please put battery percentage on there and I'd give this 5 stars.
Was nervous about the whole app thing, especially when I read how people with way newer phones couldn't access it. So I was very happy when my 3-4 year old Moto G synced in seconds. And with access now to the concentrate setting...the Sky is literally the limit!!
I'm embarrassed that I paid $450 CAD for this device. I have 1 dead battery, customer support doesn't respond to me, and they can't even get the battery level indicator to work. Very disappointed.
As many others have already shared it won't update the firmware and has a very hard time staying connected. I noticed the nexus 6p wasn't in the "garenteed compatible" list. But the Nexus 5x is.... I wish I knew the app you guys openly advertised on the package without listing any compatibility specs. Maybe someone would be a lot less willing to dump over $330 on your product then. Especially after reading the reviews of ppl who got it working makes me feel like I'm missing part of my product.
Hey guys, thought I'd throw my two cents in. This vape blew me away from the beginning, and then they updated the app. Needless to say, I am astonished that power tuning is possible. It made me so happy when I found out that the actual device could be updated with new firmware. The only con so far is that today, for the first time, it burnt my herb. I was running it on high with the power tuning on 107. It had been fine until that one hit... I've decided to lower the temp for future usage. Still love it.
Couldn't update with my phone, so I used a friend's phone. Then my phone could connect after it was updated so I had to uninstall the app and restart my phone. After all that, it finally connected. Nice now that it's working!
Can't update firmware on Android 7.0 on Nexus 5X or Android 6 on Nexus 5. First, it says "Setting Firefly 2 to OTA mode" and light on the device is flushing blue. Then light gets steady blue and it says "reconnecting to Firefly2" and shortly after it says "Update failed". Light on the device remains blue for a while after. On the failed update screen, If I bring the app to the background, turn off Bluetooth on the phone and re-open it and hit "try again" it does exactly the same thing, minus blue light.
WTF guys? I think for $300+ a unit you would have enough for a WORKING Android app! Fix this connectivity issue ASAP please!
Recent firmware update would only complete on an iPhone. Seems like it's very hard to maintain a connection to android phones. Developers take a very long time to reply.
I don't know why, but my phone and the Firefly 2 will not connect to one another. They did so once, but never again. No useful error messages are given when they fail to connect, and no troubleshooting steps are provided in the manual, so it's a bit of a headache.

Battery indicator in app doesn't work. Only gives temps in Fahrenheit, please give us Celsius. Asks for location permission -why? my Bluetooth speakers don't. The unit is advertised as portable but having to carry your phone along to change temperatures beats the purpose. It feels the app was developed just to say it has an app.
