JoeVLC Video Player for Android
Most of the videos on my phone are flash which work fine. But the mp4 wont have sound and i havent tried others but chance of other forms not working possible. Please look into it.
Tried playing one video, crashed instantly. I know it's a beta version, but doesn't that mean it should work at least some of the time?
This app was a life saver before my last update on a LG G2...now it crashes on opening. Gave it 4 star for what it was and maybe for what it will be again?
Audio plays, but there's no video. Used to work. Now it doesn't. Don't know what went wrong. Shame.
2 years later still Garbage! I love it on my laptop but this one doesn't work without a computer or WiFi.its not a stand alone app
I don't have a flippin' clue why there is not a version/port of VLC from the ppl who wrote VLC or why I can only find it from a 3rd party. Maybe Google is behind it, but whatever the reasons, I am grateful to this person for making it available. I downloaded several other video players but all I kept getting were error messages that they could not play the file. As always, VLC RULES! This ap has played everything I have asked it to so far. And again, to be clear, SWEEEEEEEEEEET.
The only video player that has actually supported variable playback speeds for flv vids on my nexus 7... Without crashing. Only downside is that the audio pitch gets skewed, but it's a small price to pay. Overall a very intuitive player that does what it's supposed to, and does it well. Highly recommended!
This app is S**T! I've never seen a useless app before. I downloaded it bcaz I had some .mkv files not supported by my Motorola device. When I opened it this app says there are no media files on ur device. I tried to refresh a 100 times but THIS APP doesn't WORK. Don't waste ur time.
Used to have outstanding playback but lite on features. Won't save your place if you stop video and leave application. Many menu features don't work; you'll touch them to select, but no result. Playback is not choppy, though, like it has become on MX Player is.
Crashes every time I start a video on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with 4.4.2 too bad because VLC used to Rock! Please fix it ASAP & if it works with KitKat & Lollypop I will give it the 5 star's it deserves again.
Once Android updated on the Samsung Galaxy S4 to version 4.3, this app will no longer play any video. Still plays audio but scrolling within a media folder often freezes the app and requires closing it from memory. Hopefully these are issues that can be resolved soon because this was the best overall media player for Android.
Installed on Samsung tablet tab3 8.0 Good points: Gosh! Has waaay too many working features to list here. Very, very impressed so far. Bad points: None THANK YOU JOSEPH :-)
thanks for porting vlc to android without requiring root. would vote 5 stars if .m3u video playlists worked (i stream from subsonic and running the m3u file [where flash videos are called with relative path names] chokes). perhaps a future upgrade?
Closes every time I try to play a video. Does not work on Galaxy S5. Still gave 2 stars even though it didnt work because I hope you will fix this. I love VLC on my computer and would really like to have it on my mobile.
Plays fine. But as far as features go, nothing works. It dose not even save you're place in the movie when you close the app. The only thing that dose work, is brightness settings.....WTF!
Doesn't work, plays videos as audio so no picture, and this is with a Gs4. Don't waste your time, just get mx player. Plays all files and zero problems. Uninstalled. Funny this guy wants donations for this crap app.
Works with my Jellybean 4.2.2. It resumes playing music after the you reattach the headphone. The later version of VLC (2014) keeps on crashing when playing mp3s (it's made for newer phones btw). Highly recommends JoeVLC for older (2013) phones.
Needed a player to play 1080 MKV file. The native Android app only played sound, same as MX Player. Glad to see VLC, which did play the audio but it was choppy. But four stars for at least semi working!
While using Galaxy S4 the app was amazing. When switched to Galaxy S5 the first time I used it, it only played audio. After that the app crashes every time I try to play a movie. Please fix as I love the app when it's working.
Nice it seems to play both video and audio and also preserves folder structure so you can browse through folders. Most apps just list all music on the device - kind of useless. Great thanks :)
Most of the videos on my phone are flash which work fine. But the mp4 wont have sound and i havent tried others but chance of other forms not working possible. Please look into it.
I love this app but I'm using this because I have a network storage and my player can't display my videos but the vlc player can but only the audio not the video that's a problem I want to see videos with audio not just be able to listen to the file. Could you please fix this issue.
Joe's VLC lives upto the excellent functionality and simple interface that has made VLC numero uno. Even without EQ it sounds great when paired with my HT amp. However one longs for an EQ.
My pc was crashed and I couldn't play different format movie on my galaxy tab2.... thank god vlc is ther for the save !! Now I can peacefully watch... ( INGLORIOUS BASTERDS ) !!!! ÷×D
But the low score is because it does not handle my phones video mp4's well at all. I thought I was having phone issues until I discovered I had picked this as the default player. Went back to stock and it works fine. Fix this to work with all mp4s. I have spoken.
it does have its downfalls it will crash 4 no unexpected reason. it will play a file one day won't play it the next day. Picky aren't we...thankyou Developer
Apparently this is a recent issue, but this app will only play the audio track of video files, no picture whatsoever despite its ability to generate thumbnails. I installed this as I use VLC on my desktop and have several unconventional audio/video formats loaded onto my phone. I can only presume that when this issue is resolved it'll be great, bit until then it's pretty much useless on this device. :/
Great app. One problem though: changing the playback speed will also modify the pitch. I am using a Samsung S4 and I have not tested it on other phones. Keep up the good work!
Tried playing one video, crashed instantly. I know it's a beta version, but doesn't that mean it should work at least some of the time?
I like the easy use of it. My video files that the default player wouldn't play work on this with hiccups. Aside from that, my other file play w/o issues.
Really liked this Joe VLC media player. Its too bad it doesn't work with Android 4.4 on my Kyocera hydro vibe.
Click ok on the warning and then it shuts down im on a note2 with sprint let me know if and when u fix it and ill rerate and reinstall
I can't believe you think it's fair to accept donations just because you simply listed VLC for US when Videolan did all the work and left the US out temporarily for a reason. Since when is it OK to list someone else's app? I hope you didn't get a single donation for your "work"
This app works perfectly on my Lenovo Yoga 10. On my wife's Lenovo Yoga 10 HD+, it plays only audio and no video. I hope this information is of some use to you.
Plays .mkv with good video and audio but doesn't show subtitles. Plays .avi fine. Has video problems with .mp4. This app is great on PC. I eagerly wait a fixed android version.
Please start charging for this so myself and others can send you money. You deserve it more than those morons at Videolan.
Used to be better than the official vlc app, but now, it always force closes when I start a video. Please fix! Same issue on all galaxy victory, galaxy tab 3 7", and galaxy note 3.
Would not load a single video, just kept crashing.
The app works great a little slow to load lager videos. But makes up for it with seamless playback. At least for my device.

It does ok with playing music. I like the timer feature for the music. It doesn't play the music that well. It has a popping sound to it, but it may be because of the type of phone I have. As for the video, it plays flv files great. But it struggles to play other video formats. Sometimes, it's glitchy. I do like how you can play full screen. It plays better than other video/music players. Much, much better than Android player. Overall, it's a good value. I'd give it 3.5 stars, almost 4 stars.
