Positive Activity Jackpot for Android
Crap
I was able to find some very interesting activities through this.
Good game
Spin the wheel & watch it land on the very things that keep you up at night - or make you want to stay in bed...forever. Pshaw, you say? Then give it a whirl. 1st spin from "Thoughts" is: "Think about retirement". This "positive activity" presupposes a tremendous amount of professional & financial stability of a person who is likely depressed (ergo, the app) with a work history that precludes thoughts of retirement being of the "long walks on a beach" ilk & more of the "I'll be working till I die "variety.
Started with me stoned on my bed, turn this little baby on and bam I'm doing 10 squats, another spin and I'm cleaning for 10 minutes and later going to apply for a job. This app just gives me that little push to go get something done. I love that it comes with pregenerated choices and let's you make your own. My only issue is that it doesn't really seem to shuffle them, just goes to the next one
I hate it
Needed some improvements
I love this app!! I have 13 years clean and the hardest thing for me has been socializing with outside world outside work and comfort of my home. Fear of myself messing up! Over last few months this App has really helped me break my cycle and be more active . I love love it.
Was browsing for this type of app. Thank you. Looking forward for more content updates. Good job.
Needed some improvements
Preferred old version was better.
Great free tool to help with coping, in conjunction with proffessional councelling. It was specifically designed for this by mental health proffessionals. NATIONAL CENTER FOR TELEHEALTH AND TECHNOLOGY. Google it, "Doctor" Michael
I have begun using this app with some very depressed patients and they like it alot. I have also used it with one couple I am seeing for marital treatment and they reported it has given them some creative ideas for things they could do together on "date" night!!
For the family that takes all day to decide what they SHOULD have done with free time this is a great starting point for ideas. I think the local augmentation needs some work as things pop on and off the screen too quickly.
This app offers a large list if possible things to do. It also lets you post activities to facebook. The augmented reality option is cool.
Awesome
The problem isn't coming up with something to do, it's the motivation to act on the idea.
This seems more flashy than useful. I am a psychologist and the concern with depressed patients is not coming up with activities. Depression affects motivation and desire. I never have trouble picking out activities with a patient. Also many of these activities are too complex to be useful for simple "off the cuff" activity scheduling. Some of them are downright strange. "Go with grandma to gather driftwood" - Weird.
Cool app. Fun.
I'm going with my 2nd cousin to "be in the country"? What does that mean and please tell me how this is helpful. Wow!
Great app to get my mind off things. Helps me during those "relapse" moments.
I use this in my personal life as well as my counseling office.

Not sure what it is good for The problem isn't coming up with something to do, it's the motivation to act on the idea.

Before pulling the lever, you still have to decide on a category of actions, and this can be quite hard when you're depressed. The actions ranged from good (call a friend, go for a walk) to vague and impractical (do a science experiment) to downright dangerous (make a life-changing decision). The nearby 'activities' were nearly all hotels - maybe the app links in with trip advisor or similar - so this function wasn't useful at all.
