About MUF Predictor
A simple application to assist ham radio operators in everyday HF propagation prediction.The application calculates MUF (Maximum Usable Frequency) and LUF (Lowest Usable Frequency) to any location in the world based on SSN data.
The application is based on MicroMUF, developed in 1984 by Raymond Fricker from BBC External Service.
Although the algorithms used in MicroMUF have some limitations compared to other more advanced algorithms (like IONCAP), the calculations are very accurate for everyday use in the HF range (2-30Mhz).
The application contains the complete and updated DXCC countries list, so that you do not have to enter latitude/longitude but type directly the DXCC prefix or country name for the transmitter and receiver location, while the SSN is retrieved automatically from NOAA site if required.
Most often used propagation paths can be saved so that a prediction can run on them later.There is no limit to the number of paths stored into the application.
**** Due to repeated unavailability the SSN sources the latest version 1.91 contains the required data embedded in the application. I hope to quickly resolve the issue once and for all. Neat, simple app if for example you wanted to check muf for circuit Switzerland to Crete, however as others have stated, for larger countrys it's problematic. I live in ve6 land so, sadly the app is not very usefull for me, other than to indicate a trend in muf. App does not calculate muf and luf to anywhere in the world as stated in current description. If one could input coordinates for a station, then this app would really be handy. Nonetheless, I appreciate the developer's efforts.

Entering point to point info. When I select K (USA) there are three choices: east coast, central and west coast. They aren't together on the list.

I tried to like this app, but it just didn't quite have the functionality needed to be useful. The inability to set locations by grid calls into question just how useful it's model can be. The US is divided into three zones, but even larger countries aren't. When you calculate Eastern US to Canada, is that Maine to Nova Scotia (next door to Maine's northeast), or Maine to Victoria (6000km to Maine's west)?

Today ssn is 24 . This app says 49 regardless. Please use realtime ssn then I may just upgrade it to 5 stars from 3 stars

This app works great on my Samsung Note 10.1. The only thing is to add more areas to the larger countries such as Russian Federation, Canada, China, Brazil and the USA.

I really like this app, no bells and whistles but does exactly what it says on the tin. Suggestion for improvement: automatic download of the current sunspot number on startup, also save the receiver's location so that the users don't have to retype it.

Using a single location option for the whole continental U.S. is just wrong. California and Maine are not going to be the same, but they are to this app.

App working great with Developers work around. Now is again a very useful propagation tool for Amateur and Shortwave Radio. Hope you continue to support it Nick. Nothing else like it for Android.
