Clean & Green KBMC

KBMC President Waman B.Mhatre and Chief Officer Devidas Pawar has taken a unique step to launch PM Narendra Modi’s Swachha Bharat Abhiyan.KBMC has become the first council in India to launch a mobile app which can be used by citizens to identify garbage, click its real time picture and post the same. The KBMC officials have promised that they will clean up the reported site within 24 hours. Once citizens post real time pictures of the garbage, the location and the time at which the picture has been taken gets recorded. The system administrator of this app notes the same and will pass on the same to the 02 sanitary inspectors and 05 mukadams, who will coordinate the cleanup immediately. The report of the same will be posted on the app as a feedback mechanism.
Spread over 36.35 sq kms, with 1.75 lakh population, KBMC generates 62 metric tonnes of garbage daily, which is cleared by 146 sweepers of its solid waste management department. President and Chief Officer is eager to make KBMC streets, public spaces and even residential areas as clean as those in Europe. “We have tested this app with a dry run and we want to demonstrate that it can happen.
