About snopro
Snopro - your personal guide through avalanche terrain.
Use the snopro app to guide you more safely through avalanche terrain in the Alps. There are two viewing options: Bird’s Eye and Aim & Go.
Bird’s Eye:
A topographic map of your area of choice with a color overlay of the 5 possible avalanche danger levels of that day. This helps choose an itinerary through the least dangerous terrain.
Aim & Go:
On the mountain, point your phone in your intended direction of travel and snopro will tell you the relevant avalanche danger level. Point your phone to the left and right to find the least dangerous direction instantly. Snopro even works in dense fog!
Snopro works in 4 countries: France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria.
The service period start on December 15th and ends on April 29th. Snopro uses official daily avalanche bulletins and applies them to topographic maps, factoring in location, altitude, aspect and inclination.
DISCLAIMER:
Snopro is no substitute for knowledge, experience and common sense. Decision making in the field should never be based on snopro alone. The underlying avalanche bulletin may be inaccurate, or technical or human error may cause the snopro output to be false. Users must synchronize/update snopro daily in the morning with the latest avalanche bulletin.
When in doubt, hire an IFMGA mountain guide, take an avalanche course and stay on the marked runs!
