Office HD: TextMaker FULL for Android
I started with the 'cut down' basic free version which is good but some features you have to pay extra for. I like this one, so far, but I'm not always able to connect to the www so hopefully I should be able to use it completely off line. I can save to my external msd card but I haven't tried using an OTG memory device. I'll keep this updated.
Hi thanks for your reply to my review. I can't access the external SD card using Textmaker on my Android tablets since the update. I think it must be a bug because it worked before the update. When I press file and open I only see internal device files, plus Google Drive, Dropbox etc but the external SD card does not appear. I think Textmaker is the best wordprocessor on Android which is why I bought this app. I am so upset that I can't save to/access my SD card any more. Can you fix this?
Although the latest version claims to have fixed problems connecting to Dropbox and Google Drive, it has not done so on my Chromebook Flip. Hopefully, this can be fixed in another update. Otherwise, this is the best available Office suite for Chromebooks.
Buggy. Trying to open up a object. Use a image from gallery Caused immediate crash. No error message no nothing the program simply goes bye bye.
This app would be perfect if it would just work offline. It keeps bringing up a message: Error in Obtaining Lisence. I bought it fair and square and I need it offline! Fix that for a 5-star rating.
Samsung Tab A tablet & HTC One phone user: this is the real deal, not another wannabe. Still Excellent after constant use since 2015-01, including MS Word style change tracking, navigating with a touch keyboard or the menu, handles 400 page docs, prints via HP Printing App, editing DOTX Templates. I edit on Device with fast Saving & Share via Google Drive or USB OnTheGo flash drive (mostly text & formatting, little image handling). Tools, Help downloads a 600 page PDF, which is easiest with a separate PDF viewer that searches like Drive PDF Viewer. It all seems Very Comprehensive. For a fifth star I'd want a builtin searchable Help, showing the cursor more often, shorter pauses for processing and a bit more that I can do without. Excellent stuff, SoftMaker!
Best money I've spent on any app! I've been using some type of Android device for about 5 or 6 years now and, I write a lot of reviews. But, rarely (and I do mean rarely) do I type the phrase "I'm impressed," but this is one of those rare apps where I am truly impressed. I have licenses for almost all popular word processors (and some not so popular), and have used the same (expensive) one for a number of years. I just deal with its problems and lack of features. I quit looking because I spent enough money and time trying to do what I thought I should be able to do, but couldn't, until now (even simple things, like setting my own tabs). I happened across this one and, I'm not done testing yet, but it looks like I'll be switching! I did read a number of reviews about spyware (I've found none) and lack of certain features, like Word Count (it does exist). The only problem I've found so far is that inserted graphics disappear occasionally, but that's minor compared to what I've been dealing with. Right now, I wholeheartedly, and without reservation, recommend TextMaker. BTW, I'll be buying the Windows version, too!
This is what I have been looking for. Almost every feature that I need is there. My suggestions..... when I connect a mouse, it does not show a pointer, just a text selection tool which does not even select text using a mouse. Could you therefore add a mouse pointer when a mouse is connected and the ability to select text using a mouse. Again, I would love to see an option of having a full screen when typing a document....sort of an autohide feature to hide the rest of the top menu when I do not need it.
This has every feature I could ever hope for in a phone app! My dream for quite a while has been to be able to produce a professional business letter on my phone and print directly to wireless laser printer.....Done!
Wow this is heads and shoulders above the competition.. Any tutorials or books to teach me how to make and format ebooks for kindle direct publishing.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Program is good for mobile and light work. I'd like to see ability to set the page size greater than 22" x 22" inches.
Good interface, works well. Using this on a phablet, the screen is a bit crowded `but OK. Impressed by its ability to print via the HP printer app with less fuss than usual. Much better than WPS Office, which I was using before and which was increasingly annoying. On a full-size tablet, a combination of the pro version of this app and the free Hacker's Keyboard would be a winner, almost exactly like using LibreOffice with a physical keyboard on a laptop.
Shortcut Keys can be configured in Textmaker! So I turn off menu-toolbars and use the tablet full-screen. My small bundle comprise of a microsoft wedge bluetooth keyboard, a Lenovo Yoga Tab with LTE connection, Textmaker & a 6 foot USB charging cable. Textmaker HD has greatly enhanced the tablet! The ability to work with .odt files is very important to me. Am very satisfied. Thanks!
EXCELLENT ........can now open old Pocket Word docs (.pwd & .psw) and the original soft page maker docs from my HP Jornada!!!! and it can safe as HTML! good stuff ????
I've been using this for sometime and it has been very reliable on my Samsung S2 tablet and on my S6 phone even though says for tablets. I use the spreadsheet app more but this has been almost as good (also using Softmaker Office on my PC). Handles things like embedded images better than other competitors. Only issue I found on latest is with images in table cells in Word doc.
From the perspective of a Linux user who normally uses Libre Office, and having tried a number of other Android word processors, I would have to say that TextMaker Office HD is your best option. If you want to use ODT document format, MS WORD must first convert it via the cloud---a possible security risk. Kingsoft doesn't even recognize ODT. Further, TextMaker was the only Android Office Suite to preserve my font choice of Georgia (the preferred font for e-books). Based on its handling of the ODT file format, its own (TMV), DOC and DOCX (and a variety of others) I find it to be the most functional of any competing "tablet" wordprocessor. The downsides: I don't mind the interface not being Material Design based (but it does look dated and out of place on Android -- still in the Windows XP aesthetic). I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for its (what should be) easily remedied clunkiness. On the other hand, if functionality matters more to you than aesthetics, then you'll appreciate its dated familiarity. Saving files to DOC vs. ODT: When saving to ODT (and opening the file in Libre) one will see a "text boundary" that is not visible when saving to DOC. Not sure yet if this matters in any way, but it probably indicates that the devs have taken greater care with DOC rather than ODT. Textmaker HDis by far and way the most flexible and functional Wordprocessor for those not locked into Micriosoft Word.
It has an interface identical to a PC office suites with full office suite functions like libre office/open office or Microsoft office it is exactly ideal for docs on the go thank you I'm glad to have bought this xoxo ^^
Just opened and it have surprised me with its new beautiful look
Perfect for my needs!
Good, solid app
If only it supported the writing of equations. And the user interface is not appropriate for mobile devices as it looks like an old fashioned PC UI, a blast from the past.
Aside from being downright beautiful and highly intuitive, it has word/char/etc. count, inline spell check, auto text that works, saving to txt (and many others), AND the media keys on my RCA Maven's keyboard actually work, meaning no need for a foot pedal. Before finding this, I spent nearly two days installing/uninstalling every other other big name word processor and text editor out here. NONE works as well for my purposes. You really need to try this! Money well spent. Sincere thanks to the dev's.
I'd love to be able to insert lines in between sections of text without having to add a page break.
I'm a person fairly tolerant of apps and their quirks, especially good apps for mobile OSs. I really like this app. I really love the UI and features - **BUT**.... Crashes in this condition and lost work: 1) Connected to mobile WiFi hotspot 2) LTE/4G connection dropped for a minute or two 3) Was working from Evernote There is either no auto-saved version, or, the last time it offered to re-open the auto-saved version the document it opened only had the number 4. Which admittedly is kind of funny, but nonetheless I lost an entire page of work. I do try to save every 5 minutes or so but forgot to do so. Still, I shouldn't have to save every 5 minutes or so - most modern word processors have a relatively functional auto-save features. I emailed support yesterday but so far no response. ************************ ********Update: I did receive a standard response from SoftMaker saying they would let the developers know future. In the meantime I've had to finally bite the bullet and use Google Docs since it's the only way I can really do word processing in the cloud without buying a subscription to something like MS Office.
It is a very good app. Like it!
I've really been enjoying this app. I only tried the big name's product a week before I was so annoyed with it that I started searching and found yours. I actually have your whole suite and I love them all, especially PlanMaker. I've been using them now for six months and couldn't be happier. I've enjoyed the great customization and abilities of TextMaker for Android and rarely need to find myself on a PC anymore for word processing. I also would like to thank you, a thousand times thank you, for discovering how and implementing the ability to write files to the SD card what with Android's big change in that region. It really made my day when I saw that update come through. Thanks much, and thanks for your great products.
I paid for this app and I am a bit disappointed. It does not open documents directly from Fx file explorer. Instead it opens a blank file. Do not know if it is a bug or a problem in my settings. It is possible to open the file using the included file explorer. Fidelity with word formating is OK. I do not use it much. Instead, I use Google doc that is much faster on an android Samsung tablet. Since it is free do not bother to pay for this app or at least try it seriously before purchasing it.
Unfortunate the developer has refused two requests for information about adding fonts and printing. Otherwise I would've given 5/5
UPDATED 7/1/2016. Absolutely brilliant that the developers have given us access to save to SD card. Certainly keeping up with the times. This app does everything the devs say it does and is just like using MS office. The formatting etc. is so good and so easy to access. It has the best instruction manual of any computer program I have ever used. You access it via Tools, Help menu and it downloads. Take note of what devs say here that it is for tablets, NOT phones and if you put it on your phone and it does not work then don't be abusive. 10 out of 10 devs.
Typed a paper on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 for hours. Saved it as a Microsoft 2007-2016 docx. It saved but could not be opened by the computers in the library at college. The file corrupted and I want a refund.
Great App. Has every capability of Microsoft Office that I use on Word / Text and PowerPoint / Presentations on Lap Tops. Countless more features on their Tablet Version than the Android version of Microsoft Office and for a very low cost. Good Customer Support.
Awesome SW! Does everything well!
This is phenomenal!
This one was truly made for tablet and finally, finally allows us High Res users to view, edit and safe our Office documents PC style ! Even the PDF export works w/o a hitch. @Gilles, if you call this "wasted money" and claim "can't trust them", simply because you got problems accessing the external SD card, complain to Google about it - and then get yourself an Etch-a-Sketch! That is an Android limitation, and got nothing to do with the app software.
software now useless other apps can write to sd. wasted money. Can't be trusted.
Thank You Softmaker for giving me the only completely visually accessible word processing app out there. If like me you are a low vision user, you will appreciate the ability to adapt this app to what you need. Well worth every penny for me.
Good, solid app
This is the only Word Processor app that I have found that looks and works just like a real Word Processor that you'd use on your computer. It is reminiscent of older versions of MS Word before Microsoft mucked it up with the ribbon interface, so is very easy to navigate through options and to find what you are looking for without needing to go online. You can also consult the comprehensive PDF manual which is included if you get stuck. The only minor gripe that I have is that the the selected Language shows as "English (United" for both British (United Kingdom) and US English, so it isn't clear which language is actually in use. It would be preferable to use the more normal abbreviations of "English (UK)" and "English (US)" to clearly indicate the language being used . There also doesn't seem to be the same availability of Hunspell dictionaries for other variants of English such as Australian/Canadian/Indian etc. which are available for the desktop version of TextMaker. Despite this it remains one very desirable app and I recommend that you try it. (The trial version available gives you ample opportunity to try out everything.)

I used to love this and would like to continue doing so. However, lately (perhaps since Android 7.1, perhaps since your last update) the app hangs about every other time I try to exit it. If I force stop the app everything seems fine, but the next time I exit there's again a 50/50 chance that it hangs.
